It seems like the stories about the old silver fox are ramping up. Feel like there's more mileage in this one that we know...

One thing that has become much clearer in all of this is his extremely close friendship with Holly. It always struck me as odd and not very grown-up how they acted like besties on and off screen. Of course, we now know she is his “gay best friend” and neither her husband not his wife has any cause for concern. It kind of adds up and I feel a bit daft for not realising sooner.

Did anyone else notice how thin he is?

SpokeTooSoon · 09/02/2020 09:34

Sorry, I think I mean the other way round, don’t I?

ManonBlackbeak · 09/02/2020 09:39

The Mirror and Star are dropping massive hints that all’s not what it seems. The Mirror yesterday with the story that the Steph is actually very hurt and the Star has similar today.

ssd · 09/02/2020 09:39

I like fern britton. Did she lose her job because of PS? I didn't know that.

SpokeTooSoon · 09/02/2020 09:43

She discovered he was being paid a lot more than her. There was bad feeling. After she’d left there was some party she wasn’t invited to - or maybe it was a special edition of the programme to mark an anniversary I’m not sure. She definitely alluded to it darkly and dramatically on some social media or other.

I used to work at ITV. The day-time people are all drama queens.

ssd · 09/02/2020 09:44

OK, thanks.

Hairydilemma · 09/02/2020 10:41

The thing I find a bit of a PR fail is why did Holly explicitly ask whether it was his choice or something he was being forced into?

As it’s increasingly looking like the latter, which makes him look like a liar. She could just not have asked the question.

othervoicesotherrooms · 09/02/2020 10:41

Did anyone else notice how thin he is?

Yes. He looked tiny.

Lifeisgenerallyfun · 09/02/2020 11:00

@Hairydilemma I suspect the fall out from this hasn’t exactly gone to plan. He was expecting all cuddles and “isn’t he brave” hence him portraying the victim needing support. The Sun piece adds to the poor me facade he’s building.

He’s obviously so used to controlling everything and everybody round him he was arrogant enough to think this could all remain hidden like it has done for years by gagging the press. Basically he thought he was being clever and smarter than everyone else. People are good at seeing liars, I suspect that’s why holly was forced to read the statement rather than him having the balls to do it himself.

Maybe she doesn't want to be complicit with his lies?

Hairydilemma · 09/02/2020 11:13

Testing she might not, but I don’t imagine it was down to her, it would have been PS’s and/or ITV’s PR people who decided what questions were asked and how they were answered.

Life, I’m sure that’s probably true.

Sarcelle · 09/02/2020 11:24

This thread will get deleted like all the others.

I did not realise that Rochelle Humes is managed by one of Philip's daughters - PP has stated that. Rochelle was the one Philip wanted to present with him, when Amanda Holden thought she had it. But he wanted one of his daughter's presenters. You can see why Amanda would be peed off if that were the case. Perhaps other stuff has happened which is why Ruth is fed up with him. Nothing to do with a runner. More about the king throwing his weight around.

There is an incestuous thing going on with regard to working arrangements on ITV. Ant n Dec, Pip Schofield, Holly all managed by the same team. I think maybe Steven Mulhearn is too. Holly's husband is a tv producer I think? Ant now goes out with a woman who worked for his management company. Dec is married to Ant/Decs manager. Holly goes on holiday with PS family. She has also been on holiday with Rochelle and her family. They are all involved and have benefited from being in the same set. They have a stranglehold on ITV, that is why their talent pool is so small and why the same old faces do all their shows.

Sarcelle · 09/02/2020 11:35

Molly Schofield is the email contact for Rochelle....this is from YMU website - which is the new global name for James Grant Management who they all seem to be associated with.

What's happening to Phillip Schofield?
PineappleDanish · 09/02/2020 11:37

I hope the same faces appearing on ITV thing will change - exclusive contracts which say they can't appear on other stations. I was surprised to see Rochelle and her husband on that BBC "guess the tune" game show, and even more surprised that the BBC inflicted Holly on us on Christmas Eve. But to be fair the same could be said about the BBC - people like Alex Jones, Matt Baker, Graham Norton and Dan Walker are everywhere and never on ITV. I don't really watch ITV any more as so much of their stuff is such dross.

I also think it's fairly clear that Schofield was about to be outed by a kiss and tell, probably in today's papers. So had no choice but to get in ahead of it on Friday. He's also probably done a deal with the Sun to squash the kiss and tell if he delivers several "soul searching" interviews over the next six months.

PineappleDanish · 09/02/2020 11:43

Jack Madeley is another email contact on the YMU website - is that Richard and Judy's son???? He's the email contact for Richard and Judy, Molly Schofield is the contact for Phillip.

Anyone would think that nepotism was a thing.

Sarcelle · 09/02/2020 11:47

Looking at that YMU site shows just how wide the reach is. Talk about nepotism. Jack Madely comes up as the contact for a few people including Richard and Judy, so even if they are not on screen or trying to make a name for themselves like Chloe Madely, they are behind the scenes benefitting from their relatives influence. (I have not looked Jack up, but I have heard them referencing Jack their son, so I assume they are one and the same person).

Molly Schofield is the contact for Phil, Rochelle and her husband and Davinia Macall.

I wonder how a normal person with no connections can get a foothold in the entertainment world. Perhaps tweet a famous celeb and get them to follow you on Twitter!!!

Sarcelle · 09/02/2020 11:48

@PineappleDanish Great minds....

PineappleDanish · 09/02/2020 11:49

Madeley is a fairly unusual surname. It's probably fair to assume it's their son.

Hairydilemma · 09/02/2020 11:51

Pineapple I was just looking at that website after Sarcelle’s original comment - crazy isn’t it?! Like the home for famous offspring interns.

Sarcelle · 09/02/2020 11:59

The opportunities to work in the entertainment industry are limited, either in production or as talent. But even more limited when you take nepotism into account.

In a similar vein a lot of actors have been to Eton and other top public schools. That is because a lot of funding for people from less rarified backgrounds has been cut, so the talent pool in the acting world for those coming through, is skewed towards a certain sector of the population.

CaptainButtock · 09/02/2020 12:03

How anyone gives a flying fuck who PS fancies is utterly beyond me...(with the exception of his wife I suppose!)

I’ve heard that it was an open secret at the beeb and someone forced his hand by threatening to go public. Motivated by his being an insufferable wanker.

Sarcelle · 09/02/2020 12:03

The global reach of YMU is huge. They have great leverage with the media. Could offer them all sorts of exclusives for the 100s of celebs they have on their books in exchange for keeping other stuff out of the papers.

If the stories about the real reason Pip came out are true, I hope the other party is being looked after, or at least paid a lot of money. Not because I think that threatening to expose something in the papers should be rewarded, more that his life is going to be crap for a long time, and he can forget doing anything in the entertainment world.

PineappleDanish · 09/02/2020 12:11

Indeed. Career over for that young man. We'll never know whether he got a hefty pay-off. You'd hope so.

Lifeisgenerallyfun · 09/02/2020 12:12

Had to google who Rochelle humes is- first thing that came up was her sister on love island (don’t watch it).

It’s like some 16th century royal court!
