I went into my local shop this morning and the female shop assistant was wearing a Xmas jumper. Not unusual for the time of year you might think. A black jumper with pretty red and green sparkly bits including bells.
But underneath the design were the words in big gold letters, 'Gingle Bells'.
I said nothing because I know the woman and didn't want to spoil her day. But really, this is right up there with redundant apostrophes and other language crimes.
Still wish I'd said something now Xmas Confused.

This thread has been a real tonic.

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 06/12/2019 16:49

I was going to write something really sincere about schadenfreude being so ugly, no need to kick a woman when she’s down etc etc ..... but some of these replies are just Grin

Doesn’t take much towel me laugh!!

Croprotationinthe14thcentury · 06/12/2019 16:57

fedup21 · 06/12/2019 17:13

Tends to happen when you've a first in English (not a boast, just to counter the implication I'm thick).grin

Oh, this has got to go in Classics.

I haven’t seen a post where the poster has been so blissfully unaware of themselves in quite some time!

fedup21 · 06/12/2019 17:17

But really, this is right up there with redundant apostrophes and other language crimes.

Still chuckling at this. Even my ten year old would have got this joke, and she doesn’t even have a GCSE in English yet, let alone a FIRST!

DingDongSchadenfreudeOnHigh · 06/12/2019 19:28

I was going to write something really sincere about schadenfreude being so ugly,

It's not my fault salmons I was making a face and the wind changed . . .

. . . my mother warned me, but I didn't listen Sad

Witchend · 06/12/2019 19:43

I got a first in the egg and spoon race when I was 6. And that, my friends, is a boast.
So did I! The only time I got first on sports' day.

Actually they could only find 7 "eggs" so gave me, as number 8 in line, a bean bag instead to go on my spoon. I had kind of an unfair advantage.
I still won. Grin

ButtercupGirI · 06/12/2019 19:44

I don't understand English jokes half of the time (not my first language) but no way I will pretend... people definitely can tell when you didn't get it! It just becomes really really awkward!

Derbee · 06/12/2019 19:51

OP, where are you?? Come and tell us more about your shenanigins

rosegoldivy · 06/12/2019 19:56

Op will be treading gin*gerly now and I doubt will come back.

Also not to brag either, but I've got a 1st. As in passed my driving test 1st time.... And remember no gin when driving.

spanglydangly · 06/12/2019 19:59

I don't think we will be seeing you again OP!

thistimelastweek · 06/12/2019 20:01

I'm guessing the OP won't be back agin.

ChristmasFairyDogsOfThigh · 06/12/2019 20:08

I wonder if the OP ever imagined when she started this thread originally, how discouraging people would be and how the ragging would continue.

Rumnraisin · 06/12/2019 20:34
