I went into my local shop this morning and the female shop assistant was wearing a Xmas jumper. Not unusual for the time of year you might think. A black jumper with pretty red and green sparkly bits including bells.
But underneath the design were the words in big gold letters, 'Gingle Bells'.
I said nothing because I know the woman and didn't want to spoil her day. But really, this is right up there with redundant apostrophes and other language crimes.
Still wish I'd said something now Xmas Confused.

After being out until the early hours at our small Christmas party, drinking copious amounts of gin, (followed by a few bottles of moet), I found this thread both hilarious and nauseating at first this morning... How many times did I need to read the word gin whilst feeling a bit delicate? Xmas Grin I came back tonight to see if the OP had returned, and I believe that she has, with a name change, and has missed another joke... Classic comedy gold... But of course that "tends to happen when you've a first in English".

It's rather an obscure joke, especially to those of us who don't drink gin.

Derbee · 08/12/2019 03:48

Oh my goodness, the thought that @calmama could be the OP, brings me so much pleasure 😂😂

Ginthis is a Sunday morning classic! What a great bunch MN are ( when in full wit mode!) Xmas Grin

This thread is brilliant. The poor op so caught up in their own snobbery they failed to see they’d missed the joke. Dear god there is nothing intelligent about lauding your supposed intellectualism over people. It’s moronic tbh. Thank you for the subsequent comments Grin

SecretsInSpitalfield · 08/12/2019 11:24

I feel kind of sorry for the OP. She obviously made a mistake. If it was me l would’ve said ‘oh thank you for pointing it out! Thank goodness I didn’t comment on the jumper! I’m such an idiot! 🤐😀’

OP probably isn’t like that and she went on the defence because her pride was hurt and that made it worse!

OP- lighten up. Don’t take this too seriously. And you don’t need to name change either. Have a lovely Sunday. 💕

Elodie2019 · 08/12/2019 11:30

Why would the OP come back and say 'Ooops, silly me, missed that'!
when she could make herself look silly twice!

spanglydangly · 08/12/2019 12:02

It's rather an obscure joke, especially to those of us who don't drink gin.

It really isn't! Also OP is a gin drinker!

I can't beGIN to tell you what a TONIC this thread has proved to be.

Missed puns and misfiring sock-puppetry. What a joy!

Xmas Smile
