Are the conservatives really this popular?

Listening to statistician on BBC who reckons the conservatives are head in all polls and will win a majority on election day.

I know only two people voting conservative (mil and dm). Who are all the other conservative voters??

Are the conservatives really going to win the election so easily?

If so...I'm very very sad Sad Wine

I'm not sitting here all night arguing with the far left/liberal left who are just determined to argue and chuck straw man bollocks about.

Any sensible and logical person knows Corbyn is a liability, Labour are shit with him as leader, and no WAY will they win the election on 12th December.

Let's just hope they are thrashed by the Conservatives, and it will mean the end of Corbyn.

Good luck to you daydreamers and wishful thinkers on here who think Labour/Corbyn are doing well. You'll need it.

But when Conservatives thrash Labour next week, remember to blame CORBYN, not the people who voted Conservative. That's CORBYN - C-O-R-B-Y-N. Comprehende?

Goodnight. My bed calls. Some of us have work tomorrow. Ain't got time/can't be arsed to argue with the obstinate, the hard of thinking, the deluded, and the obtuse. (Some with all 4 of those qualities!)

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 02/12/2019 23:18

Well I shall respond to whatever post I want to it’s a public forum

party membership means fuck all when it comes to an election - but do keep on with Corbyn’s drivel that he repeats over and over again

safariboot · 02/12/2019 23:18

The "shy Tory" has been a thing for decades. Pollsters are well aware of it and attempt to account for it.

I'm not particularly impressed by Labour either. They're too statist for my liking, and I've been unimpressed by their conduct in Parliament around Brexit. I agree with what George Osborne once said, "In opposition, you move to the centre. In government, you move the centre." - Corbyn's Labour has done the exact opposite.

Hottap · 02/12/2019 23:21

I live in a safe Tory seat and I never see a Tory poster or meet anyone who admits to voting for them!

Velveteenfruitbowl · 02/12/2019 23:23

Where we live pretty much everyone who will vote will most likely vote conservative. No university and it’s an expensive area so everyone more or less who lives here has worked hard to earn money, many with good careers but also a very high rate of small business owners who would be badly hit be Labour’s policies. In general it’s a fairly even mix but the Labour Party is so extreme this election that it’s not really an option for the kind of people that live here.

user1471448556 · 02/12/2019 23:24

Just watched Dispatches on C4. This is what happens after 9 years of the Tories. Universal Credit and Food Banks. ‘I’m alright, jack’ mentality prevails in the UK it seems, if people still want the current shower in government.

Oysterbabe · 02/12/2019 23:27

I don't know many people who are voting Labour. I won't be mainly because I think they are pro-brexit and I would be a lot poorer if they got in. I'm not exactly living on caviar as it is.

ArseDarkly · 02/12/2019 23:29

Bit of a joke to deride others for repeating themselves enthusiasm when you are on here 24/7 spouting the same tired stuff over and over

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 02/12/2019 23:33

Yes I think they're massively popular this time.

I work for the NHS, within my department there are only 2 who are voting labour

I haven't asked everyone obviously, but enough.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 02/12/2019 23:34

Are you Corbyn ?

Grin Grin

I’ve been at work today - this is actually relaxing for me

everythingisginandroses · 02/12/2019 23:38

I went to work too. Do you want a fucking medal? Biscuit

ArseDarkly · 02/12/2019 23:41

Are you Corbyn
Wow CCHQ are so witty, so sharp with the comeback, it's awe-inspiring! Biscuit

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 02/12/2019 23:42

no I would rather a pay rise

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 02/12/2019 23:44

Thanks

Now back to party membership how does this impact an election ?

ArseDarkly · 02/12/2019 23:47

I expect Boris has promised you a pay-rise after all your hard work on here hasn't he? Wouldn't hold your breath though, he has a bit of a difficult relationship with the truth

Stuckinarut81 · 02/12/2019 23:48

I wouldn’t put too much faith in the polls.

Yougov is the most often quoted one. I’m on a lefty Facebook page and there was a thread on there saying that they’d received an invitation to take a survey about their voting intention. The first question was ‘who are you planning to vote for?’, and when they answered Labour, they got a message saying that they were not eligible to take the survey. Scores of people commented saying the same had happened to them.

So don’t believe the hype. It’s all so corrupt it’s unreal.

user1471448556 · 02/12/2019 23:51

CCHQ all over this thread with all the anti Corbyn chat. Lurkers note - You can vote tactically for Labour to stop the Brexit Tories and Corbyn will not get a majority - he will have to work with others. You might even be able to vote LD, depending on your constituency. Boris is no friend to women. He is our version of Trump.

ArseDarkly · 02/12/2019 23:54

My comment about membership was to another poster as I tried to point out, unfortunately you have obviously been programmed to jump in on any and all posts about Labour and do your tired spiel about how terrible Corbyn is yet again.

The poster I was responding to made the ridiculous comment that Labour had 'lost everything ' under Corbyn so I was pointing out the clear untruth of that.

Parkmama · 02/12/2019 23:55

Yep I'm voting conservative, and like most of the comments I'm not shouting from the rooftops about it. I whole heartedly disagreed with strategic voting, you should vote for the party that has policies you believe in. Not to sabotage a party that has policies in which you don't.

SilverySurfer · 03/12/2019 00:01

Snowjive2
I imagine a lot of people who plan to vote Conservative are keeping quiet about it because they’re ashamed. They certainly should be.

I'm loud and proud about voting for the Conservatives and don't give a fuck what a Labour bot thinks.

ArseDarkly · 03/12/2019 00:02

Usually I would agree with that parkmama but the Tories under Johnson are too toxic, they are a danger to our society so it's a civic duty to vote in whatever way will deny them a majority

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 03/12/2019 00:04

They didn’t win an election under Corbyn and they won’t win this election - Membership means fuck all no matter how many times Corbyn comes out with the numbers

Well yes I believe all parties have promised to increase NHS spending I guess this is past on to staff

I doubt I shall see a rise anytime soon

The thread evolves it moves in posters reply to other posters at times agreeing other times they don’t that’s how it works

From you posts i don’t believe you have much understanding of the Labour Party, the history within the party or of British Politics but have become enamored by Corbyn as many of his supporters are - totally blind to anything else but Corbyn’s way. Accusing me of being a what Tory insider oh please Hmm

Writersblock2 · 03/12/2019 00:29

I’m voting Tory. And I’ve been appalled at the behaviour of Labour voters online. People I’ve previously thought of as ta least decent, have come out of the woodwork to tell me I’m a c* who apparently wants to see children dead. And that was before I mentioned I was voting Tory - just that I wasn’t voting Labour.

I was a remain voter. I’ve voted Labour, Tory and even (bizarre to me now) Greens in the past.

Graphista · 03/12/2019 00:31

Very few people I know are open about voting Tory.

Most people I know who are happy to say who they're voting for are either labour or snp supporters and I find snp supporters tend to be quite vocal.

I'm going to be voting labour myself but I'm aware it's being reported tories have a lot of support, I'm not sure how accurate that is though as I don't know how the polls are being taken and how the results interpreted, also most MSM is funded/run by Tory supporters.

I acknowledge they have a lot of support and are one of the main parties BUT the last result was a minority win for them and they needed the dup to prop them up, at that time they weren't being led by Johnson who isn't universally popular even among Tory supporters and weren't being as extreme in approach/attitude to Brexit, poverty, the nhs etc

Labour lost the election but not by a huge difference it was actually really close.

So I don't think anyone can count their chickens just yet!

CendrillonSings · 03/12/2019 00:38

Well, if the polls are all MSM / Tory lies I’m sure you won’t mind sharing your own prediction for the size of the Labour majority with us! Smile
