Thought it might be fun, posting here for traffic.
What do you get for free or at a very small cost that others pay for?
This is supposed to be fun by the way...
For example
I never pay for yoga classes (family member is the teacher)
I never pay for stationary or printing (get them from work)
I never pay full price for Fatface or Debenhams purchases as I have good friends working there.

What are your freebies?

Over 60 holidays, both UK and worldwide

(I home exchange)

Bluewavescrashing · 29/11/2019 18:36

Brand new car on lease every 6 months. Tax and insurance paid. DH gets the same but also a fuel card. He also gets private health insurance for all of us.

CantspellWontspell · 29/11/2019 18:36

I go to a free yoga class put on by the doctors surgery and my DH gets bog rolls from work but that's it.

Gemma2019 · 29/11/2019 18:44

We get free broadband, home phone and family mobile phone contracts through DH's job. I get a free gym, free counselling, Pilates and yoga and heavily subsidised restaurant through work. Oh and free parking thanks to a blue badge - about the only perk of having a severely disabled child!

LifeofClimb · 29/11/2019 18:47

If it's the stationery company I used to work for, hello OP! Grin [wave]

It was amazing how many senior and junior managers used to send memos about the stationAry company (!). However, they don't take well to criticism of their spelling and grammar...

Freebiefriday · 29/11/2019 18:51

@LifeofClimb 🤣🤣 we literally have a running joke about that!! I’m laughing at the fact I did it too!! I didn’t even realise until the pp pointed it out...oops!!

Haven't you looked at NHS discounts on the Intranet? Café Rouge give 20% discount

Yes I know there are lots of discounts, but that's not free which I think was the question. 100% discount would be ace! But if it were in a cafe - maybe not as I am already overweight and have very little self control!

MadeFrom100percentPears · 29/11/2019 19:09

Free, really nice meals at work. Love not having to take a packed lunch!

73Sunglasslover · 29/11/2019 19:11

Sorry, question was free or very small cost. NHS discounts are great but you are still paying over 80% normally and they're on treats rather than essentials most of the time.

Stamps (DF is a postman - he gets sheets of them every Christmas)
Cinema (DH is friends with the management)
Chinese (again, DH is friendly with the management. We pay £2 each for a £15 per person all-you-can-eat buffet)
Nandos (DH again... Decent discount)
McDonald's drinks (DH...)
M&S (DSister works there - gets a discount)
Printing (stolen from work!)

reefedsail · 29/11/2019 19:13

We live in a nice 4 bed rent free and pay only a third of Independent school fees.

SpinySue · 29/11/2019 19:20

Electrical work - dad is and electrician. Rewired my house for £250 just the cost of the materials!

Hilton hotel - sister works there so I can use her family discount, get it even cheaper if i go with her.

Christmas dinner and drinks - oh's work gives everyone £100 voucher for m&s or waitrose so we use that to buy everything.

moobar · 29/11/2019 19:26

My husband owns a plumbing company and a building company.

He spends a lot at the merchants, he is currently doing my mum a downstairs loo and utility (for free) and the merchants have given him most of the bits for it free.

He also gets points (like clubcard points) for every ideal boiler he installs and saves them up every year and trades them in at Christmas. We have just got £1,000 om a prepaid mastercard.

His merchants also give vouchers at Christmas depending on what you spend, they will be giving us £500 love2shop vouchers next week.

I work in a preschool, we get nothing, in fact we buy resources for work!

MistyCloud · 29/11/2019 20:06

@Keepitup

Misty a good way to remember it is that there's an E in stationery for envelopes. Smile

Thank you. Smile

WellTidy · 29/11/2019 20:09

I can’t think of anything I get for free or at a very low cost. Clearly know the wrong people 😀

thecatneuterer · 29/11/2019 20:10

Two 'bag for life's full of raw chicken every week (so heavy I can barely lift each bag) ... and I'm vegan. My local kebab place gives me their off cuts for cat food.
