Hopefully not a TAAT, but inspired by one. What's the most interesting present your child has ever asked Father Christmas?

One of mine wanted a unicorn last year

A rocket that doesn't smell of cheese Confused
probably some confusion with the moon made of cheese

a baby goat to keep in the bedroom

It doesn't sound difficult but years ago my toddler son asked for a chair for his doll. It sounded so modest, I didn't feel I could refuse. Could I find a bloody chair for a bloody doll? Could I fuck? I trawled through every fucking toy shop (pre internet) and eventually found an overpriced bloody chair - I seem to remember it was a doll sized baby chair. But whatever it was he did like it!

@Girlwithkaleidoscopehair. If only you’d wanted it in 2013

DD1 asked for a traffic light when she was 3. I made her one out of cardboard. She played with it for months.

When he was three (he's now 21) eldest son asked for a barrier?? Turned out he wanted a car park barrier like the one that went up and down at entrance to his nursery car park.
Another year he wanted a stage and a spotlight.

Oldest son out of four wanted a dirt bike for Christmas, this was 10 years ago.
He asked for 4 years in a row.
I finally could afford to put a down payment on one and then my sister was in a car accident.
She was in a medically induced come for almost a month.
Her two kids, my niece and nephew stayed with me and my children while she recovered.
My son asked me if I could get a refund back on the dirt bike so I could buy my niece and nephew Christmas.
So I did.
Bought my son the dirt bike the next Christmas.

My dc like to ask for obscure Pokémon plushies. I’m not bad at hunting down decent “fan” versions on eBay, but this year they’ve asked for a couple that no-one makes.
Last year I thought I’d surpassed myself when one dc asked for a Snorlax as big as himself- and I tracked down a Snorlax beanbag Grin

babygrootandstarlord · 29/11/2019 05:04

One year my youngest asked for an invisibility cloak. Thanks JK Rowling. Lol

BikeRunSki · 29/11/2019 05:14

Seaside rock

We live at least 60 miles from the nearest coast

BikeRunSki · 29/11/2019 05:15

One year my youngest asked for an invisibility cloak. Thanks JK Rowling. Lol

I’m finding a grey car works well.

(It’s a work car, I didn’t choose the colour).

My 2 year old has asked repeatedly for a yellow hat this year.
Picked up a builders hat in the charity shop for £1.
Hope every year is that easy

2000lightyearsaway123 · 29/11/2019 06:17

I've name changed because my sister is on here and if she see's this she will 1000% know this is me Grin.

My brother was obsessed with Thomas the tank engine and all things trains. He announced when he was about 4 that he wanted a Donegal train set for Christmas... Q frantic searching by parents to no avail. It doesn't exist! He got a Thomas the tank one and was thrilled. He's 20 now and I asked him recently if he could remember what it was and he has no idea Grin

When he was about 4 ds asked for roller boots with rockets on, a trombone and a hammer. Which tells you everything you need to know about ds.

MamaWeGotThis · 29/11/2019 07:16

@Shooturlocalmethdealer your son sounds lovely bless him and I'm glad he got his dirt bike the following year :)

MadamNoo · 29/11/2019 07:26

Ds asked for a time machine two years running. Father Christmas had to write a letter saying he was waiting for ds to grow up and invent it and then come back and leave it for himself.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 29/11/2019 07:33

@RufusthebewiIderedreindeer you just decorate the Lindt reindeer wrappers like bunnies. They are the same mould anyway

Omg 😳

A) i did not know that!

B) i did not know that (same point but so important i thought I should say it twice

C) i am gonna be checking that Christmas day...that’s fabulous

D) i was in a bit of a tizz

E) i just spent a few weeks convincing her that a reindeer would be heaps better cos santa has those

DD2 ( about 3 at the time) wanted a Barbie jigsaw.
Could we find one?
Nope- trawled round all the toy shops- not to be found! ( this was 18 years ago before internet shopping)

We bought a jigsaw and a Barbie comic. Covered the box with pink paper and the jigsaw with a picture from the comic and painstakingly cut it to the jigsaw pieces then stuck a picture on the box too.

The reaction on Christmas Day was priceless. Smile

Mine asked for a load of expensive presents when she was very small, I responded with darling that's a lot of money, to which she shouted in glee

"It's from Santa, it's free! "

Totally stumped me. 🤣

Cremebrule · 29/11/2019 07:44

This year my child has asked for Santa to help her getting better at wiping her bottom after a poo. Last year, I gave her the Boden catalogue to see if there were any clothes she’d like. She spotted a picture of a horse and asked for that instead.

bigbluebus · 29/11/2019 07:58

When DS was 6 he asked Santa for a "villa in Spain with a swimming pool" - we had been on holiday to one that Summer. We were able to get one of those letters from Santa sent to him which managed his expectations!

SantasLittleHelper2019 · 29/11/2019 08:02

Sat waiting for a hospital appointment and reading all these has brought a smile or my face.

Some of these are hilarious - and hats off to the mums and dads having to actually make the toy that can’t be found Grin

RosieLancs · 29/11/2019 08:04

Last year one of my then 9 year old kids asked for a hatchimal, a present for mummy and a home for all the homeless people.
I managed the first 2.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 29/11/2019 08:16

Seeing santaslittlehelper has reminded me about a pre Christmas about 25 years ago

We had an answer phone which dh trued putting ‘funny’ messages on

So at Christmas he decided to pretend to be santa...so all ‘ho ho ho, its santa here hope youve been good’ etc etc

We didnt know many people with children but our messages were clogged up for days with little ones lisping their way through their Christmas list

Didnt make that mistake again!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 29/11/2019 08:21

Toy numbers. She was two and wouldn't expand on what she meant. We guessed at magnetic numbers.
Christmas morning. Opened her stocking... no toy numbers. Opened her first present and burst into tears. It wasn't toy numbers. We had to root around the pile finding the right box. She was so happy. Wouldn't touch any other presents until she had properly played with them

ShatnersWig · 29/11/2019 08:23

Another here who when little asked my parents for presents. Father Christmas only brought goodies and smaller treats in stockings.

sueelleker · 29/11/2019 08:31

Not the actual gift part, but DS asked for green wrapping paper, it's not actually as easy as you'd think to find it.
I got some dark green paper from The Works this year, with "Winter Wishes" on it. (I'm not against Happy Christmas etc; I just liked the paper.)
