This one ->

www.itv.com/news/2019-11-27/jeremy-corbyn-says-uncensored-documents-show-nhs-is-part-of-toxic-post-brexit-trade-talks-with-us/

I had already decided to vote for the conservatives, mainly because I couldn't bring myself to vote for any of the others who seem hell bent on gleefully ripping up womens rights. I've always voted so abstaining/spoiling wasn't an option.

But after reading/watching the above I think I am going to switch to voting labour. We are a disabled family, and could never afford to pay for healthcare (and I doubt insurance would touch us with a barge pole).

I don't like Momentum/Corbyn really but I'd rather complain and fight for my right to a single sex ward than not be able to use one at all

Re: brexit I voted remain in the last referendum but to be honest just have fatigue about the whole thing, so I'm not basing my vote on any of that. (Though seems a second vote isn't that terrible an idea).

Just posting because I can't see anything on here about this yet and I've gone from feeling quietly confident that Conservatives would win to feeling nervous about it now. Anyone else?

sme There will be many many more children in poverty once Corbyn crashes the economy!! It is because I care about those children that I am not going to vote for him!

We can not afford a four day week for everyone
We can not afford to nationalise huge multinationals
We can not afford extended maternity leave AND nursery places for all children over two. We don't have that many nurseries!
We can not afford to scrap trident in today's world of NK and China etc.
We can not afford to see all of our most successful countries up and leave the UK.

This is going to an absolute nightmare if it happens.

You will not help people in poverty by spending trillions in a scatter gun approach buying up useless companies for no good reason, and landing us in even more debt, and leaving an even bigger deficit for our children to pay off indefinitely. It is outrageous to say that this will help those in poverty, it really won't!

Deathgrip · 27/11/2019 14:57

YANBU at all. And it seems some sections of the press are doing their utmost to minimise this.

I apologise if someone has already posted it, but this appears to be (not yet verified) the documents. They make for absolutely terrifying reading and frankly the NHS is the least of it. Now we know why BJ is so keen on getting no deal through. If that happens we are absolutely screwed.

Are you an economist? Because large numbers of them fundamentally disagree.

Corbyn’s spending plans are not extreme compared to our current spend or that of other European countries. Nor are his other policies, many of which work very well in affluent EU countries.

Your fears have been deliberately placed but they are out of sync with reality.

Considermesometimes · 27/11/2019 15:00

paddy Perhaps if you actually read the policies you would feel more alarmed than you do now. I suspect many on here simply do not fully understand the consequences of handing the keys to Momentum. They do not have the first idea clearly. If they did, they would be very scared indeed.

I despair at the collective stupidity of people who actually believe this stuff.

Indeed. I can’t believe anyone can look at this and trust Boris bloody Johnson, but here we are.

I’ve read both manifestos, and the letter of support from the economists above - are you more qualified than all 160+ of them, who call their policies a sensible response to our current economic situation?

Samcro · 27/11/2019 15:02

i can never understand why anyone who cares about disabled people would ever vote tory.

HyacynthBucket · 27/11/2019 15:03

There is an idea going around that I read in the Times this week that the Tories have been running down the NHS as a prelude to privatising it.

@ShouldIStayOrShouldIRun

The Tories have a long history of selling off public enterprises to the private sector, and already have form with aspects of the NHS.

Piecemeal NHS privatisation is entirely in keeping with both their ideology and their prior actions.

What's the point in JC holding up redacted papers. We need to read the actual documents ourselves to.be informed of any plans.

PaddyF0dder · 27/11/2019 15:06

@Considermesometimes

You literally used the phrase “end of life as we know it”.

Come on. That’s just silly. It’s ok to climb down from that one.

Lifecraft · 27/11/2019 15:08

i can never understand why anyone who cares about disabled people would ever vote tory.

Some disabled people vote tory. There are also wealthy disabled people.

Considermesometimes · 27/11/2019 15:08

death There is not a country ON EARTH that has a spending plan such as Corbyn's, much less the EU! The spending predictions he has provided led experts to believe it is not even possible to spend that much money so quickly. We don't even have the infrastructure to accommodate it. It is beyond ridiculous that anyone would vote to do this. We don't need to own the post office nor the utilities do we?!!

If you were here in 2010 after Labour plunged us into a deep recession, you may remember that Labour handed over the treasury box with a note, and it said there was no money left.

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/may/09/liam-byrne-apology-letter-there-is-no-money-labour-general-election

IF Labour win this time, after they have crashed the economy on an epic scale - the next peachy note coming from Labour will be an IOW to the tune of trillions. Fantastic. Can't wait. Lucky us hey!! Confused

BrendasUmbrella · 27/11/2019 15:08

Tbh I'm surprised that a disabled family would even think of voting for the Conservatives. Is there another party that has a more naked hatred for disabled people?

Sakura7 · 27/11/2019 15:08

YANBU, if you rely on the NHS then the obvious choice is Labour.

Deathgrip · 27/11/2019 15:09

RunningAway does your child have SEN? Have you been through the EHCP process? Are they at a state school? Are you reliant on the NHS?

If the answer is yes to those and you still vote Tory then I would really love to understand why. I have two disabled children and despite the fact that we personally would be financially worse off under Labour, the abhorrent way my children have been treated by the current system under this government is utterly unforgivable.

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 27/11/2019 15:10

Yanbu at all. I find it interesting that this has apparently come as a surprise to so many people though...the Tories have been stealth destroying the NHS for years.

I’ve got a horrible horrible feeling that BJ will still be PM come the 12th December. Absolute tragedy.

BrendasUmbrella · 27/11/2019 15:10

You're willfully choosing to forget that it was a global recession that began in the States, there was nothing we could have done to avoid it.

And the Tories who got in nearly a decade ago with promises to close the deficit outspent Labour's entire last tenure in one term, and the deficit has continued to widen year on year.

Considermesometimes · 27/11/2019 15:12

death You are a paid up Momentum supporter with bells on it, but nowhere will you find this level of spending anywhere on the entire planet. Seriously, get your facts straight. You are misleading everyone with your posts.

EducatingArti · 27/11/2019 15:12

Many economists support Corbyn's plans and the most recent Conservative governments raised the notional debt far far mor than previous Labour ones.

kateandme · 27/11/2019 15:14

ive seen family in the US crippled simply because of how their health system works.and they would otherwsie be doing ok.literally devastated them as a family.and they cant now afford to come home.so are stuck in a no win cycle.
and people in the uk i know couldnt even do what they do to get by.becaue there isnt the other things like more slogging jobs, loans, money moving. to cover it.he is literally trucking 24/7 all over America to the point of falling over.there will literally be thousands of deaths if the uk went the same way.
it scares the shit out of me.

Considermesometimes · 27/11/2019 15:14

brenda We were so ill prepared for the financial crash, because Labour had spent so much and we were already in so much debt! Other countries rode out the crisis, because they were more frugal.

If we have learnt nothing else, we need to learn that only a strong economy can provide a healthy well invested NHS, there is no other way no money tree at the end of the garden! We need to understand the basics. If we want schools and hospitals that are well funded then we need to avoid a full on recession - why is this not obvious??

GingerPCatt · 27/11/2019 15:15

If the NHS figures into your vote, have a look at The Kings Fund. The King's Fund is an independent charity working to improve health and care in England. They’ve released statements looking at the various manifestos. www.kingsfund.org.uk/
