This one ->

www.itv.com/news/2019-11-27/jeremy-corbyn-says-uncensored-documents-show-nhs-is-part-of-toxic-post-brexit-trade-talks-with-us/

I had already decided to vote for the conservatives, mainly because I couldn't bring myself to vote for any of the others who seem hell bent on gleefully ripping up womens rights. I've always voted so abstaining/spoiling wasn't an option.

But after reading/watching the above I think I am going to switch to voting labour. We are a disabled family, and could never afford to pay for healthcare (and I doubt insurance would touch us with a barge pole).

I don't like Momentum/Corbyn really but I'd rather complain and fight for my right to a single sex ward than not be able to use one at all

Re: brexit I voted remain in the last referendum but to be honest just have fatigue about the whole thing, so I'm not basing my vote on any of that. (Though seems a second vote isn't that terrible an idea).

Just posting because I can't see anything on here about this yet and I've gone from feeling quietly confident that Conservatives would win to feeling nervous about it now. Anyone else?

I can’t believe what I’ve been seeing, that to vote Labour is very scary. If Labour get in, I do not want to be in this country, I’m very scared for my children and grandchildren. Boris will not sell off the NHS, those papers were all lies. The impact on voting labour is truly horrendous. Please think again for the sake of your children. Boris and the Conservatives all the way. I expect you young generation have never lived under a labour government, truly horrific.

PhilSwagielka · 28/11/2019 18:43

i wouldn't vote Conservative either and I'm dreading the thought of having to fork out thousands of pounds for healthcare. I'm far more bothered about the possibility of getting cancer, or my parents dying because they can't afford healthcare, than I am about trans women.

PhilSwagielka · 28/11/2019 18:45

@pauline9258 I have. I've lived under Tony Blair. I've also lived under the Tories. I'm not voting for them. I don't know what was horrific about him apart from the war in Iraq.

@Angelil I could live with a German-style system, but because of Trump's involvement, that's why people are worried about a US-style system.

Alez · 28/11/2019 18:50

YANBU. The Tories are the only party that can't be trusted with the NHS. I don't know that any party can necessarily fix it's problems, but I believe that they want to. I don't believe the Tories care about it at all.

I've only read 3 pages of the thread so sorry if someone else posted this www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/nov/27/us-trade-deal-nhs-investigation-brexit-drugs

It's true that the Tories are unlikely to literally sell off the NHS to the US. However, what is much more likely is that they would let US firms sell drugs to the NHS at much higher prices than today. The NHS is basically a single monopoly purchaser of drugs in this country so it gets a good price on drugs. They want to stop that. Higher prices on drugs means the NHS will be able to do less with the money it has. That means longer wait times, maybe some illnesses (or people?) not being funded through the NHS anymore. It's a dangerous slippery slope that I don't want us to go down.

Sneezewitch · 28/11/2019 18:51

@pauline9258 that’s just not true, I grew up under a Labour government and things were so much better. You’re being so naive about Johnson the man has got dollar signs for eyes. He will absolutely parcel off the NHS to Trump. You must be older than me-how will your family afford your medical care? Social care? Because I am absolutely sure that will go under a Tory government. I understand why people don’t like Corbyn but Johnson is an out-and -out liar, a cheat, and he cares absolutely not at all for ordinary people. I honestly don’t believe he cares if we live or die.

Alez · 28/11/2019 18:55

@pauline9258 of course we young generation have lived under a labour government - what do you call Blair and Brown? Under them we had the Iraq war, which just goes to show what happens when we're under the thumb of the US.

Attitude84 · 28/11/2019 18:56

Don’t vote Tory if you want to keep receiving free healthcare!!!!
Labour is the way forward!!!!

numberoneson · 28/11/2019 18:58

The Tories have stated their position on animal sentience too - they don't believe animals can feel pain or emotions (!!!!!!!!!!!) so voting for them means bad news for your health and other species: the NHS just should not be on Trump's bargaining table. Also, chlorinated chicken .. shudders .. just don't vote Tory, pleeease.

Considermesometimes · 28/11/2019 18:58

The selling of the NHS story was a complete pack of lies and a dead cat so that Corbyn could try and avoid the Jewish Labour wing's statement, and his car crash interview with Andrew Neil.

This is what he DOESN'T want you to see:

www.facebook.com/conservatives/videos/watch-the-full-andrew-neil-interview-with-jeremy-corbyn/1022243018135007/

So he filled the airwaves and news channels with a 453 page dossier that said absolutely nowhere that Boris intends to sell the NHS.

Never in a million years will ANY party ever sell the NHS or any part of it, it is fabrication of an epic scale to try and stem the tide of votes draining away from Labour.

NicLondon1 · 28/11/2019 18:58

An independent study has found that Tory's austerity measures have literally led to DEATHS:
www.independent.co.uk/news/health/tory-austerity-deaths-study-report-people-die-social-care-government-policy-a8057306.html

And particularly disabled families have been hit the hardest:
www.disabilitynewsservice.com/disabled-people-driven-to-breaking-point-by-cuts-says-un-expert/

And actually Labour's economic plans have been widely applauded:
www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/general-election-labour-economy-spending-corbyn-boris-johnson-a9218041.html

Please be aware that most of our media is owned by Oligarchs who will want to keep their taxes low in their offshore companies, and so their newspapers deliberately trash Labour/Lib Dem. Particularly The Telegraph, The Sun, The Daily Mail, Daily Express etc. It is BIASED PROPAGANDA. Even the BBC has shown to have a blatant bias towards the Tories. Don't fall for it.

YABU
Dog whistle scaremongering at its worst.

DuckWillow · 28/11/2019 19:03

I’m voting Labour simply because I am so angry with the conservatives for the past nine years.

It’s immaterial and all you Tories freaking out can stop as the prediction is a comfortable Tory majority so you’ve won anyway.

Personally I am in a safe Tory seat...I hope my current MP is elected with enough of a reduced majority to cause concern.

akkakk · 28/11/2019 19:07

a) be aware that this site is full of members who either don't talk about politics - or if they do are fairly anti-Tory - so not representative views...

b) few parties have done as much damage to the NHS as Labour with their PFI initiatives which put the NHS deep into debt for years into the future...

everythingisginandroses · 28/11/2019 19:08

YANBU. Vote Labour.

Considermesometimes · 28/11/2019 19:08

Nic The austerity was CAUSED by Labour, you are again missing this very point. Our economy crashed due to the US property crisis AND the fact we were already in so much debt!

You vote for Corbyn and guess what it will happen all over again, and then times it by a trillion given the manifesto pledges costed out by their very own experts.

You seem to not realise you are voting for the very same government that caused the last recession/depression! God help us.

Considermesometimes · 28/11/2019 19:10

I love the fact you have relentlessly quoted the independent, the Independent stopped being that years ago !!! Jeez.

MustardScreams · 28/11/2019 19:10

Bloody hell, how many more times.

AUSTERITY WAS CAUSED BY THE GLOBAL FINANCIAL CRISIS. Is that clear enough?

Considermesometimes · 28/11/2019 19:11

I do question the average IQ of some of the people on here, it reminds me why relocating overseas may not be such a bad idea.

BinkyBaa · 28/11/2019 19:12

Yanbu. Theres no point worrying about gender issues if the alternative is dying from a treatable illness and saddling your family with a huge bill for the pleasure.

everythingisginandroses · 28/11/2019 19:12

Bye the. Arse, door, way out, etc.

everythingisginandroses · 28/11/2019 19:13

Sorry, bye then @ Consider Blush

deedeegee · 28/11/2019 19:13

The NHS is already being privatised in dribs and drabs already... & will only get worse if the Tories get in. A friend told me how a wealthy friend of theirs in the USA, with health insurance got cancer and then the insurance company withdrew cover& the family eventually lost their boat, their cars and their house....😱

Considermesometimes · 28/11/2019 19:16

Mustard

Er no, it was not the financial crisis entirely, the UK were hugely in debt thanks to Blair and Brown, so we were completely exposed to the crisis when it happened. Other more frugal countries faired much better than we did because our deficit was already sky high!

You are being disingenuous to suggest otherwise. It took 11 years of a conservative government to get the country back on track, and now it is all at risk again.

Remember this:

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/may/09/liam-byrne-apology-letter-there-is-no-money-labour-general-election

Labour 's last love letter to the incoming Tories clearing up their mess:

'There is no money left'

Sums it up perfectly.

This time it will be even worse with Corbyn. I won't be hanging around to watch the economic car crash as it hits the buffers at a trillion pounds. No thanks.

You need a plan B if you are voting for Labour, one that involves moving out of the country for twenty odd years.

Alsohuman · 28/11/2019 19:18

I expect you young generation have never lived under a labour government, truly horrific

It really wasn’t. The 70s and 1997-2010 were brilliant. The last nine years have been torture, even worse than Thatcher.

Helen1224 · 28/11/2019 19:18

Labour are telling lies! Conservatives are NOT going to sell the NHS off, if they were they would have done so already. If anyone is a danger to the NHS, womens rights, minorities, and this country as a whole its Labour. Simple.
