This one ->

www.itv.com/news/2019-11-27/jeremy-corbyn-says-uncensored-documents-show-nhs-is-part-of-toxic-post-brexit-trade-talks-with-us/

I had already decided to vote for the conservatives, mainly because I couldn't bring myself to vote for any of the others who seem hell bent on gleefully ripping up womens rights. I've always voted so abstaining/spoiling wasn't an option.

But after reading/watching the above I think I am going to switch to voting labour. We are a disabled family, and could never afford to pay for healthcare (and I doubt insurance would touch us with a barge pole).

I don't like Momentum/Corbyn really but I'd rather complain and fight for my right to a single sex ward than not be able to use one at all

Re: brexit I voted remain in the last referendum but to be honest just have fatigue about the whole thing, so I'm not basing my vote on any of that. (Though seems a second vote isn't that terrible an idea).

Just posting because I can't see anything on here about this yet and I've gone from feeling quietly confident that Conservatives would win to feeling nervous about it now. Anyone else?

Think about what your life has been life during the past 9 years. You say you are a disabled family - how much help do you get because of this? How much community care, etc? (which you've paid for via your taxes so are entitled to). If the current social care/benefits/health system continued and your conditions got worse how would this affect your quality of life?

The legislations and regulations that the current government have put in place target the disadvantaged in society. That will not change - they are not going to suddenly become the "caring" party overnight. If the conservatives win they will continue with austerity, they will have no reason to put into place any of their manifesto promises.

All we hear from the current government is how they're going to put more money into schools, more into the NHS, more into the police, etc. Why haven't they already done this? Why wait for a general election to announce all this? And who is responsible for it being like this?

I wouldn't base my vote on the attitude of one local politician - I would look at the whole party and what the impact of the current government has been whilst they've been in charge - and whether you are happy with that.

monstiebags · 28/11/2019 17:47

You are not being unreasonable you are being brainwashed. Free movement of people from all over the world with no control whatsoever will put such a strain not he NHS that it will be on its knees more certainly than if America tried to muscle in. There will be no trade deal that makes the NHS even more expensive - we can't afford it now. come to your senses - Corbin's plans to tax us out of existence will be a lot worse.

BoobsInHiding · 28/11/2019 17:52

I’m voting labour
Always voted conservative previously. No more as we have suffered as a family under them and locally things are in tatters especially anything to do with the nhs and it’ll only get worse. So many here relying on foodbanks too
Time to wake up

keffie12 · 28/11/2019 17:55

Besides the NHS debacle, do you want a primeminister who is a pathological liar, a philandering cheat with 5 children he admits too. 1 was by an affair. There are another 2 where one was an abortion, Johnson forced her into and another a miscarriage all the results of an affair. These and the rest below are all proven researchable facts.

He was also sacked from two jobs for his continuous lieing. Your disabled you say? I can't believe you will vote Tory after the 9 years of hell they have put the disabled and vulnerable though with the vilification of the disabled, cuts to benefits and services to pay for the bankers greed of 2008.

The Tories of this generation are not for the average person. Johnson only went leave adsl a career move. He didnt expect to win. He didnt want too. The man is a.mysogonist, a narcissistic and is out of the same ilk as Donald Trump.

Dont even get me going on the car crash of Brexit. I am a remainer. I am actively involved in the campaigning to get another vote etc. We will be all worse off if Brexit is allowed to happen. Brexit is for the elite and right wing greed to turn this country into a tax haven. Yes I can write a book on this and yes my background is politics.

We are finished as a country it the Tories get in. We will be turned into a vassal state of Trump's America and the NHS will be sold off bit by bit.

I am very glad you have asked about this on here because from what you have said you clearly dont know much about whats going on.

This election is about principles before personalities. The simple way to explain tactical voting is this:

1/ If you live in a Tory held seat, you vote for the party who came second in your seat in the 2017 referendum. Easily checkable through Google.

2/ If your in a Lsbour/Lib Dem whomever else seat you vote for them.

3/ If its Labour, hold your nose, breathe and just do it. Its for the good of the country. Many, many of us are doing the same.

4/ BTW alot of what you read about JC is not necessarily correct. It's either lies or twisted truth. This is done by the extreme right wing media who dont want a labour government because they will lose alot of money through it.

If you wish to know anymore you can personal message me if you wish

DuckWillow · 28/11/2019 17:56

I’d say that OP ....YANBU . It’s fine to change who you wish to vote for.

I’d say the same to anyone. ..but at the very least make sure you vote for someone.

Personally I am finding the smears from both Tory and Labour wearisome now and I’ve largely stopped paying any attention to either side.

I think there’s some issues with this NHS one but I’ve read fairly widely behind the story and it’s only likely to be a huge issue if we want trade deals with the US who in turn want everything including the NHS on the table for discussion about what they get from it all. Obviously with Brexit it may well be a huge issue.

simiisme · 28/11/2019 17:57

YANBU.
As far as I'm concerned, keeping the NHS is the single most important thing.
My husband's uncle, who lives in the USA, is still paying off the medical bills of his partner who died 5 years ago. He managed (just) to avoid selling the house.

SuperSue77 · 28/11/2019 17:59

YANBU - whatever it takes to stop you voting Conservative is worthwhile. They are making this country dangerous for the vulnerable and less wellness off and it’s evil. I voted Conservative in the past and now feel totally ashamed for having done so but I will never do so again. There were some fairly decent Conservative MPs but they have jumped ship and left behind a higher concentration of hard right wing callous individuals, mostly out for themselves. And if it’s women's rights you’re worried about, just see the latest news article in which Johnson’s thoughts about single mums are voiced. It is horrific that this man has been allowed anywhere near government let alone running the thing.

Borderterrierpuppy · 28/11/2019 17:59

Yanbu
I could not bear to live in a society where what you earn would dictate your healthcare treatment.

egontoste · 28/11/2019 18:00

I wouldn't vote for the fucking tories in a million years anyway.

Bubble2019 · 28/11/2019 18:01

🙄🙄🙄😴😴😴

Happygirl79 · 28/11/2019 18:06

I intended to vote Conservative even though my instinct says he is an egotistical fool but now will be voting Labour and I can't stand Corbyn either
Its one hell of a choice to make
One fool or another
Can't NOT vote in conscience

Bubble2019 · 28/11/2019 18:06

We had a vote and chose to leave. You parade yourself On here as an expert when the truth really is you just can’t accept the result of the referendum.

Zenith123 · 28/11/2019 18:08

Please don't vote conservative. They have totally destroyed this country over the last 9 years, and their cherry on the cake was the EU referendum, this has divided the nation, and has already cost billions. The Tories forced austerity upon us, this has changed nothing except make poor people poorer. We have increased homeless because the Tories won't build social housing, and all this has done is create millionaire landlords. The Tories are going to sell the NHS to Trump! Please don't vote for them!! In all honesty if you are considering voting for that lieing bunch of hypocrites you are hugely misinformed about the world. What have the Tories ever done for women? At least Labour are going to give women their lost state pension back!! I'm sorry folks but please wake up!! If you're not a millionaire the Tories will rip you to shreds.

Stooshie8 · 28/11/2019 18:09

Well done for falling for Labour's bullshit. Best wishes to your DCs, if you vote labour in, as they will be paying off the huge bills they intend to run up.

MustardScreams · 28/11/2019 18:14

Boring! Haven’t you got another sound bite you can blather on about? Labour will ruin the economy! Yawn. They won’t btw.

At least they’re not killing people needlessly with their fucking disgusting policies. But hey! Who cares about actual lives when you’re a Tory.

BiBiBirdie · 28/11/2019 18:15

They've already sold off everything else: Royal Mail, water, railways, even schools have been sold off to form Academies
They can and they will sell off our wonderful, under appreciated by Tory toffs, envy of the world NHS, I am 100% sure of it.
And people will die because they cannot afford it, to add to the deaths they have already caused through massive cuts and taking away of benefits.
I have a mate in the US who considered moving here permanently because she has had to declare herself bankrupt due to being diagnosed with an ongoing illness and not being able to pay for her medications.

Icantreachthepretzels · 28/11/2019 18:17

comparethetacticals.com/

friendly reminder that depending on where you live voting labour might not be the best way to avoid a tory majority.
If you want to protect the NHS, get rid of austerity and Universal credit and prevent a crippling hard brexit - with the potential for no deal at the end of 2020 (end of transition period - an extension will have to be asked for before June because that is when the EU decide their next seven year budget, and Boris will not ask for it before then as most people will not recognise the danger, so he will be under no pressure to do so) please click on the above link and scroll down to your constituency to find the most sensible way to vote

We don't have particularly brilliant choices but the tories are far more harmful than any of the other possibilities. Please vote tactically to keep a tory out, rather than waste a vote on a non-tory candidate who can't possibly win in your constituency. Your tactical vote will be balanced out by someone else voting tactically for your preferred party somewhere else - where they do stand a chance of winning.
Tactical voting is the best way to avoid a tory majority - if you don't support them, please vote smart.

And if you're in Uxbridge and South Ruislip - you know what you need to do!

babooshkamybush · 28/11/2019 18:22

@Lifecraft

"There are 2 ways to kill off the NHS. You can sell it off, like the Conservatives will do. Or you can crash the economy, so you cannot afford to fund it, which is what Labour will do. So all we need to do is choose how we want the NHS ruined"

This - exactly this

Xenia · 28/11/2019 18:26

The first post sounds like a bit of a planted one to help the Labour cause!

Of course you should vote Conservative. Have you read those documents? I have - they say nothing like the spin Labour are putting on them.

Xenia · 28/11/2019 18:27

The conservatives have no intention of selling off the NHS.

Mangapps · 28/11/2019 18:28

OverUnderSidewaysDown · 28/11/2019 18:28

YANBU. It’s not just the NHS itself, it’s the deals that will be done with US pharmaceuticals which will lead to big increases in what we pay for medication.

Alsohuman · 28/11/2019 18:28

The IFS, after analysing all three main parties’ spending plans, has concluded that the cost of a no deal Brexit would exceed Labour’s manifesto plans by quite a margin.

DdraigGoch · 28/11/2019 18:28

Have any of you actually read the documents in question? They read rather differently to the picture Mr Corbyn is trying to paint.

Angelil · 28/11/2019 18:34

YANBU but i think the quotation of US healthcare models across this thread is naive. Just look at other privatised models of healthcare (e.g. France, the Netherlands) and you’ll see that they have far better outcomes than the U.K. or US systems.

I am not voting Labour or Tory btw. I think as long as people keep treating this as a 2-party system then that is what we will continue to get.
