Bare bum in dressing room , AIBU.

I take DS to swimming. I got the times wrong turned up for the wrong lesson. I decide to go back to the changing room to wait. I find it hard to breath in the pool area, 30 minutes is ok, an hour and I can feel my asthma begin to act up.

There is a dad there getting his daughters dressed (fine) he was in the pool and he's down to his underwear.

Another dad arrives with his son, him and my DS are in the same lesson.

Anyways dad of daughters decides to get dressed... he drops his pants and is stark naked in front of his daughters. He is also by the door so if another parent was coming in their child would have walked into his penis! And it wasn't less than a minute because he was drying himself as well 🤢...

There are cubicles. He could have used a towel as well.

Why would and adult choose to get naked in a dressing room at a swim lesson for children with strangers around.

AIBU to find it bizarre?

His bum was also hairy and unattractive 🤢.

It's also clearly a place completely cut off from the rest of the world, where the quaint changing room and public toilet etiquette of the rest of the world is unknown and unsuspected.

GlamGiraffe · 28/11/2019 04:41

@JoannaObrien
Unfortunately my husband is afflicted with the same lack of fashion expertise and when (just to prove the point), I allowed him to select clothes for me to try on, even he realised the full on prostitute/Christmas cracker combination looks weren't really cutting it. I find that as with anything showing him pre selected options to choose is a very good idea, hes then always impressed he makes such good choices. It makes him feel good😉.

TomPinch · 28/11/2019 04:41

It's a very, very long way from anywhere.

TomPinch · 28/11/2019 04:43

@GlamGiraffe

But did you model them in the men's?

Trebla · 28/11/2019 04:45

Erm I'm in NZ and no the OP is not typical.

Trebla · 28/11/2019 04:47

it's a very, very long way from anywhere

This however is true Grin

TomPinch · 28/11/2019 04:48

There's also a lack of 'family' changing areas in NZ (or at least there was when my kids were younger).

notthemum · 28/11/2019 05:24

Christ on a bike. Just read the child is 2.
I don't know of any company that would let a two year old swim without a parent,
If you can't bear to wait in the allocated changing area (although personally I would not let a two year old swim without me being there) sit in your car
Oh my, it's raining, it's the UK. It does that. Get a fucking brolly for God's sake.
How wonderful to have lived in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the tropics, how odd that these places allow females to just sit in the male changing rooms.
How very odd that people don't get changed under their towels here.
Why the fuck wouldn't you have asked your OH about the changing rooms before going in there and ogling some poor blokes arse ?
I change my previous opinion. YANBU, just really fucking mental

rowrowrowyaboat · 28/11/2019 06:14

The entitlement and selfishness from you is astounding. You can not use the mens toilets/changing rooms, your needs do not trump mens.
Im starting to think that maybe your on the spectrum, a complete idiot or incredibly narcissistic because this behaviour/thought process is so tunnel vision its unreal.....or maybe its just not real 🤷‍♀️

Also, it doesn't matter you couldn't see his face, when u saw his arse that was your queue to leave......not watch.

rowrowrowyaboat · 28/11/2019 06:16

*cue

my2bundles · 28/11/2019 06:26

Spoke to a friend in Australia. She confirmed that woman do not, I repeat DONOT use male changing rooms when supervising son's. Also no self respecting swim school teachers 2 year olds without parental supervision IN the pool. OP stop bleating cultural differences.

my2bundles · 28/11/2019 06:32

You have however given my Australian friend a good laugh at your obvious ignorance.

homeishere · 28/11/2019 06:38

Shit like this actually gets me angry.

Just because a man gets naked when getting changed, in a men’s changing room, does not mean he is child sex offender.

The naked body is natural. Makes no difference the age or gender of the children present.

My husband walks naked around our 2 & 4 year old girls. And they him, obviously.

Elodie2019 · 28/11/2019 06:41

You sit around for half an hour in the male changing rooms and are put out because a man gets naked in there? Are you joking?

As for I've also never been in a changing room with women walking around naked... they usually have a towel on.
Oh haha... really?! Must be just our local swimming pool then. Plenty of naked women showering/dressing out in the open there.
(Never seen a random bloke sat waiting in the ladies strangely enough)

NewPapaGuinea · 28/11/2019 06:44

This story is BS. Even if it’s true, it’s BS.

Rombocious · 28/11/2019 06:58

@TomPinch

"And in NZ it's appropriate for a mother to take her son into the men's toilets, ditto fathers & daughters, leastways it was when my children were younger."

Lived in NZ all my life. Been to tons of public swimming pools. Never ever seen an adult women in the men''s changing room and if a man went into yhe women's with his daughter there'd probably be a riot.

Winesalot · 28/11/2019 07:10

Ahhhh ! @TomPinch! I wondered about that but then she said there was no public pools at all where she grew up only private. I did think there would be public pools in the warmer parts of NZ, just like in Australia.

And now Trebla has come through and said ‘not typical’.

HeresMe · 28/11/2019 07:16

As a man when I use a male changing room, I wrap a towel round me from the shower to the changing area but then you would see my arse as I finish drying and get dressed.

I've been to Australia it works same as here.

If I was the swimming baths I would ban you permanently from the premises, for your behaviour as it's frankly unacceptable.

You are eithier a pervert or a idiot which is it?

HeresMe · 28/11/2019 07:30

Oh and you keep saying you didn't want to go outside in the rain, I'm sure it isn't just the changing rooms then directly outside, there will be a waiting area.

JoannaObrien · 28/11/2019 07:33

I wonder when the OP will add to this thread again. I am really laughing about some of the comments on here. Grin

AnneKipanki · 28/11/2019 07:34

The spoof thread has been deleted. The reason... it is not Friday.

LolaSmiles · 28/11/2019 07:46

This was a brilliant thread.

Man gets changed in male changing area Grin

Trebla · 28/11/2019 07:47

Mum to 4 boys. We go to swimming lessons every Saturday. Smallest gets changed by side of the pool with me (3) just in case family change is full and the two bigger ones need to get themselves changed in the men's. At no point would I go into the men's with my boys, let alone fully clothed without them. Surf life saving at the beach is a bit more of a free for all but quite frankly no one cares or looks...

TomPinch · 28/11/2019 08:04

@Rombocious

Yeah- That's not normal but I never said it was.

spacepyramid · 28/11/2019 08:18

*@spacepyramid

That dad and his son are always in there... as I have also said. His son and mine do the same class. But it's still empty...*

Only in your head.

As for NZ, it's news to me - I don't think I've ever seen a parent of the opposite sex come in the changing room with their child. Good job really, I don't want anybody looking at my bum, hairy or not.
