It’s ‘best of a bad bunch’ in my case but there are three threads petrified of BJ/Tories so wondered if any MN Tories would like to gather here!

@GlitchStitch

Agree that the narrative of low income= Lab voter, high income= Tory voter is tiresome. Very similar to sweeping assumptions made during Brexit referendum.

FWIW I have two disabled children on DLA but we are a higher tax rate Labour voting family. I guess between us we confound expectations!

Chattybum · 25/11/2019 11:00

To be honest, although I have been looking into countries that may accept me as a political refugee should Corbyn and the gang get in, on balance how likely do most think it is? I'm feeling quietly confident for a Conservative majority personally.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 25/11/2019 11:01

@Trewser I apologise for thinking of others. I know it is not a widely accepted tory trait”

Didn’t take long for the mask to slip huh? Hmm

Also absolute GrinGrinGrin at the labour devotees quoting Orwell here, the irony is just too delicious.

I've switched between Tory and Labour in past elections. Definitely Tory this time as I can't vote for a Corbyn/Momentum alliance - it would bankrupt the country and I despise Corbyn for his "flip-flopping" and sitting on the fence. He's the worst Labour leady I can remember, even worse than Foot and Kinnock - Labour's left just never learn that they're not wanted. If only we had a moderate/centralist Labour and leader they'd walk it.

Alsohuman · 25/11/2019 11:04

Which part of ‘to invite Conservative voters to gather here’ is hard to comprehend? What’s with the compulsion to gatecrash?

There will be many people reading without posting still looking for information on which to base their views. Incorrect information needs to be challenged. Only someone with no confidence in their opinion would object to challenge. Do you object to elections and think the Tories should govern by right?

Kazzyhoward · 25/11/2019 11:05

Scary though Corbyn is, there is no one scarier than McDonnell.

There's Diane Abbott - her in any position of authority really IS scary.

BovaryX · 25/11/2019 11:06

Chatty, I am not sure. I have seen a couple of opinion polls citing a significant Conservative majority, but that can be very misleading. I think the Conservative strategy is to woo traditional Labour voters who are pro Brexit in the West Midlands and North West. Will that work? Dunno. Could be a hung parliament with SNP or Lib Dems....

Chattybum · 25/11/2019 11:06

There are many threads to read if someone is looking for a balance of views.

ginghamstarfish · 25/11/2019 11:07

Where I live it is either SNP or Conservative .... so Conservative then.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 25/11/2019 11:07

@Alsohuman I don't think anybody has an issue with anybody who hasn't formed and opinion or is genuinely interested in people's views, or even correcting mistakes.

The issue is the blatant Labour voters who are posting to tell us we hate the poor and ill.

EntropyRising · 25/11/2019 11:08

I don't think Abbott has completely drunk the kool aid, I'm still far more terrified of McDonnell.

OUR WOULD-BE CHANCELLOR.

Kazzyhoward · 25/11/2019 11:08

Re the NHS, yes, it needs reform. For those who admire the US system, though, I suggest you look at it in more detail.

It's not a binary choice of UK versus US. There are dozens of other developed countries with far better health systems than either UK or US. It's just lazy to assume the alternative is the US system.

woolie34 · 25/11/2019 11:08

For those who say they are on universal credit, with those with disabilities then I don't want to argue with you. I just genuinely hope whatever choice you make works out for you. Its incredibly hard,my partner has seen people at their lowest with lack of funding, and universal credit and wouldn't wish that on anyone. I'm not using this to persuade anyone. I just do hope if tories get in that I am wrong and it works out. I live in a city where over the last 10 years the homelessness on my highstreet has gone from 1 maybe to at least 10 every time I go down there. So many surgeries have closed its impossible to get a doctors appointment, even for a child, when they usually have preference. I live near a bridge that every few weeks has someone jump from it, everytime I hear a helicopter over my house I get a knot in my stomach knowing the local news will say tommorrow that's happened. So if I have offended anyone I apologise. I don't wish to argue, I just wanted to provide a different viewpoint. If you want to hurl insults at me, if it makes you feel better that's fine. But please understand everytime a Labour supporter is passionate or questions you it's because they've seen the bad, they know someone who has suffered under this government, etc. It comes across badly sometimes, but it comes from a place of trying to do good.

EpcotForever · 25/11/2019 11:09

25, female, conservative and I even voted to leave. Shock

Applepieco · 25/11/2019 11:09

Life long Labour voter here. Unfortunately can’t vote for them whilst they have let the party be overtaken by extreme left wing momentum movement . The thought of Corbyn/Abbott is horrifying for me. I will never vote Labour again until they realign. I’m also very impressed with our long standing Conservative MP.

To be totally honest, I am very worried about the outcome of this election. I think the billions & billions spending being offered by the current Labour Party in an attempt to win votes, is very tempting to many. Despite the polls, even if they stay steady, I think we are looking at a minority Labour government, propped up by a SNP supply arrangement. I intend to go to bed at 10 pm on election night & wake up to the news. I really, really hope I’m wrong.

DuckWillow · 25/11/2019 11:09

Politically homeless but voting a Labour to hopefully reduce the Tory majority locally.

A shame as I like our Tory MP but I can’t let the injustices this Govt have presided over go.

When I am not fighting to help people appeal unjust PIP decisions I will look again but all the while vulnerable people suffer I will fight their corner. That means a vote for Labour locally who are the only ones who can reduce the Tory majority.

Chattybum · 25/11/2019 11:09

@BovaryX I agree and put very little faith in polls. I just think there is a significant, silent majority that are fed up of having their views quashed and invalidated by the a loud minority on the left. I hope common sense will prevail.

EntropyRising · 25/11/2019 11:10

It's not a binary choice of UK versus US.

Of course it's not. The US system is entirely fucked, they'd have to first unpick their lobbying problem to get to the heart of the matter, and before that, they'd have to figure out electoral reform.

Deathgrip · 25/11/2019 11:10

The issue is the blatant Labour voters who are posting to tell us we hate the poor and ill.

Actions have consequences. You can’t vote for a party whose policies have severe repercussions for the poor and ill and divorce your actions from those consequences.

scaryteacher · 25/11/2019 11:10

Hamsters Can't believe anyone calls the security of the realm ' the Defence thing'. Losing Five Eyes access would be catastrophic..nothing comes close really in terms of intelligence.

EntropyRising · 25/11/2019 11:10

woolie I thought you wished us well and left?

What's happened?

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 25/11/2019 11:11

Chattybum "I love the fact that woolie thinks she has the measure of a completely random group of individuals based on a few line of text on an anonymous forum."

I love the fact Woolie has illustrated my point absolutely perfectly Grin
She is the very essence of the holier than thou, monopoly on goodness, type I was referring to with her laughable attempts to smear anyone who doesn't follow her religion. Attitudes like hers are a key reason people get turned off Labour.

GlitchStitch · 25/11/2019 11:11

It comes across badly sometimes, but it comes from a place of trying to do good

I don't believe that labour supporter automatically=good. I've seen appalling misogyny and anti-Semitism from so called 'progressive' labour members and supporters.
