It’s ‘best of a bad bunch’ in my case but there are three threads petrified of BJ/Tories so wondered if any MN Tories would like to gather here!

Like others on this thread I am happy to have a political debate but when people suggest Tories are all heartless bastards who don’t care if poor people die, it’s clear that no debate is possible.

It’s the same as calling leavers thick and xenophobic (I am a remainer).

People just shut down and walk away from from the insults and ad hominem attacks. It’s an echo chamber which doesn’t change anyone’s viewpoint.

Goddessofgrowth · 25/11/2019 10:31

Woolie hang on, you think the people posting here have learning difficulties? Or have I totally misunderstood.

Thinking about it, Labour voters do tend to get more upset at the thought of a Conservative government than vice versa. I suppose because Labour voters are more likely to be reliant on the government.

@ChazsBrilliantAttitude to be honest, I would be happy to pay the money now though I earn half of what they suggest to, if it meant we could try it. But then they say you only get wealth by never giving any away.

Chattybum · 25/11/2019 10:32

@woolie34 he isn't liasing though is he. Before he became leader of labour he was an MP for a Islington North. Not really high flying international relations is it.

EntropyRising · 25/11/2019 10:33

Tory voter here. I don't understand why the Tories have decided to go on a spending spree (must be election time, eh?) but I'd sooner throw myself off a cliff than vote for any of the alternatives, particularly Corbyn.

ArthurtheCatsHumanSlave · 25/11/2019 10:33

woolie34 Re: the NHS and privitisation. You purport to research your stance, but actually you are just trotting out the Labour party propoganda. The NHS will not be privatised. Regardless of who wins the election, do you honestly think that in a parliamentary democracy full privitisation of the NHS will ever be allowed? Do you really think that even within the Tory party there would be a majority of MP's that would vote for that?

Here's a link for you:
www.longtermplan.nhs.uk/

Download the plan and read it. It was created following input from ALL interested parties. Doctors, nurses, patient groups, NHS managers, and was CROSS PARTY.

Another link if you want independent analyses:
www.kingsfund.org.uk/topics/nhs-long-term-plan

So much work behind the scenes in Parliament is now done cross party, particularly on the NHS and Social Care. I wish people knew this. Behind the bluster of the leaders of all parties, MP's and Lords work quite hard at getting a consensus. Also see that most Hospital Trusts and CCG's are run by Doctors and Nurses. Look at your local hospital board. Mine in certainly packed full of current or ex clinicians. The majority I know are voting Tory.

Trewser · 25/11/2019 10:34

Yes its a shame Labour didnt suggest taxing everyone more, that i could have got on board with. Everyone. All earners.

Bobbybobbins · 25/11/2019 10:34

@Goddessofgrowth

Yes possibly. I am scared!

TheDarkPassenger · 25/11/2019 10:34

Me and my family were labour through and through including campaigning. This year I don’t see anything from them other than throwing strops about the NHS, shouting at people for not voting because of corbyn and stupid boz memes.
The are not doing well at convincing people!

I’ll be voting Tory most likely, our mp is standard and has been labour for years but I struggle to count what she’s done until recently where she’s exploded on Facebook pretending she’s been looking after people all year long. I don’t think labour will be a sure thing here anymore!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 25/11/2019 10:35

woolie
I give plenty away and I am lucky to be able to do so, but people can’t hide from the fact that the NHS needs reform (not privatisation in my view) and throwing more money at it is only part of the solution.

EntropyRising · 25/11/2019 10:36

Like others on this thread I am happy to have a political debate but when people suggest Tories are all heartless bastards who don’t care if poor people die, it’s clear that no debate is possible.

MN threads have gone entirely pearshaped. The usual way to approach Conservative voters is as follows:
-thick as shit
-turkeys voting for Christmas
-ignorant
-disgusting

I think those account for maybe 95%.

Woolie hang on, you think the people posting here have learning difficulties? Or have I totally misunderstood.

I believe so. I suggest ignoring her.

NewNameGuy · 25/11/2019 10:36

35 year old Tory voter here

bellinisurge · 25/11/2019 10:36

"I have yet to find anything legitimately scary about corbyn,"
It's probably really hard to see with your eyes covered. And hard to hear with your ears covered.
The "la la la" tune you are singing probably cheers you up though.
No I am not voting Tory but if you can't see why people don't like Corbyn, you need to find a different bubble to live in.

woolie34 · 25/11/2019 10:37

@Goddessofgrowth no but I'm saying if the answers are, "I have enough money and I like it that way" then fair enough, good luck to you. If you say "I'm disabled and have no money but I think Jeremy corbyn is a nazi" then I'd like to think someone has been offered and alternative before they drive themselves off a political cliff. I have no ill will towards tory voters. Who knows, if I had more money and less life experience maybe I would be voting tory too.

EntropyRising · 25/11/2019 10:38

woolie34 Re: the NHS and privitisation. You purport to research your stance, but actually you are just trotting out the Labour party propoganda. The NHS will not be privatised. But Trump!
But our precious NHS!
But secret meetings!

It doesn't matter how many times you repeat this, it will fall upon deaf ears. Corbyn has made this the central plank of his platform.

Chattybum · 25/11/2019 10:39

@EntropyRising I agree. There is always one gate crasher who arrives late and has no problem hoovering up the remnants of the buffet Hmm Ignore!

Goddessofgrowth · 25/11/2019 10:39

If someone has a disability and no money but still makes the decision to vote Tory, woolie then that’s the decision they will make.

OP posts:
BovaryX · 25/11/2019 10:39

I suggest ignoring her

An excellent piece of advice. Because otherwise, what was intended to be a space specifically for Conservative voters will be totally dominated by someone hurling vacuous cliches and tedious insults

Goddessofgrowth · 25/11/2019 10:40

Yes, where were we?

Does anyone think there’s a chance of (another) hung parliament?

OP posts:
woolie34 · 25/11/2019 10:40

Not sure why people are suggesting I think tory voters have learning difficulties, but you evidencing the tory ability to have selective reading is hilarious. Not sure why you would be upset if it were that way anyway, maybe your lack of regard for those with learning difficulties is showing.

woolie34 · 25/11/2019 10:41

@Goddessofgrowth yes it is. Once again my apologies for having compassion for others

Deathgrip · 25/11/2019 10:41

particularly like the bringing back bursaries for nursing degrees, more for policing

You mean like promising 20k new police when they’ve already laid off 21k?

Or promising 50k new nurses but including in that 19k nurses we already have because they would have left under their current policies?

Have you people read 1984? I can’t believe this is fooling anyone.

I’ve just seen a Tory ad which says “let’s get Brexit done and fund the NHS”. Fool me once, Boris... is it 2016 again? Remember how quickly those promises were repealed after the referendum?

Seeing the number of people here who claim to be lifelong labour voters who’ve flipped to tory is sickening. You think Corbyn is terrifying yet are turning a blind eye to the actual harm this government has been doing for a decade. I hope you feel ashamed of what will be done in your name.

I will leave to your smug back slapping. I hope you get a shock in a few weeks time but one thing the tories have done very well is gross misdirection on an industrial scale.

Statistically some of you will lose your family income, health etc in the next five years. Best of luck to you.

Goddessofgrowth · 25/11/2019 10:42

1984, by that well known tory writer Grin

BovaryX · 25/11/2019 10:43

Goddess, I don’t know. But the idea of the Lib Dems as king maker is a sobering thought Halloween Hmm

Chattybum · 25/11/2019 10:43

Oh dear another gatecrasher, who the hell is manning the door around here?
