Putting Christmas tree up today?

Opinions... Usually do it on the 1st but next weekend is a busy one. Don’t have time during the week... so thinking today or tomorrow.

Partner thinks I’m mad. Also his mum is popping over this weekend and I know she’ll offer her opinion like she does in everything but myself and DC have been poorly all week. So surely this is a good way to cheer us all up??

It’s not Christmas. Why would anyone put a tree up in November? It’s getting earlier every year.

Far too early for me we’re usually second week in December but have seen lots of people have theirs up already. Really though it’s non of our business, if you want your tree up do it.

Too early, IMO. Mine goes up about 10 days before Christmas and comes down a week or so after.

No. It’s November, have some decorum

Haha what a snobby comment!
OP do what you like, there will always be folk who say it's too early. Personally I couldnt don't care less what everyone else does.

Ours went up yesterday and I love it. I never understand the "it will spoil it, you will be fed up with it come 25th December type comments. I wouldn't do it now if I felt like that. Obviously that's people's opinions but it's not them, no-ones forcing them to put up their trees now.

Why would anyone put a tree up in November?

Because we want to.

Way too early, but each to their own.
It absolutely has to be a real tree, so two weeks before christmas is ideal for me.

I know of lots of others who have it up.. growing up my mum would always put it up beginning of November 😳 thankfully I never did the same but I do like it up by the 1st Dec. I have such a busy week for us! If we don’t get it up this weekend it won’t be until 2 weeks time and for me that feels late (for us).

We tend to take it in around New Years!

We also have an artificial tree so a dying real one isn’t a problem. I would love a real tree one year though!

It’s your house. Put it up if it makes you happy.

No, it's too early. Mine won't be going up until 15/16th. And I love Christmas.

No!! If you want cheering up go and do something special/have a treat/see some friends. In November, cheering yourself up doesn’t mean putting up a fucking Christmas tree. It’s such poor taste.

This weekend is too early.

Next weekend is too early.

Personally, I get no joy out of the tree whatsoever so it is up for the minimum amount of time. Looking at this year's calendar, will probably be weekend of 14th/15th Dec.

2 weeks time is the earliest appropriate opportunity. Do it then.

Agree sparking brook. Surely you can spare half an hour op, or put it up in 3 weeks time when it’s actually Xmas

If next weekend was too busy and I had to wait until a week into december I'd put mine up today but probably keep my curtains closed so I couldn't be judged Grin I went to buy an ikea real tree last night and on the way there I saw fully decorated houses! The real tree isn't mine. I have a fake one so it lasts the month!

And I LOVE a tree! But that’s because it’s special and only up for 2 weeks a year. I’d it went up in November all of us would be meh.

Get tree out of loft. Chuck decorations on. 45 minutes tops. Unless you have an all day putting up the tree ceremony what takes so long?

Mine is up. It's our last Christmas before our baby is due early 2020 and want to enjoy it as much as possible! Do what makes you happy.

Babybel90 · 23/11/2019 08:19

If it will make you happy then do it, you don’t have to finish it today you could start putting it up then put the final bauble on and turn the lights on next weekend so it’s not ‘officially’ up until then, it’s just a work in progress.

If you’re busy in the weekend then wait until the week after. Too early, it’s autumn!
