If so, where will you be going?

Please LOOK at the Conservative manifesto and see what they are offering for public services - it is incredibly generous and they are able to offer what they are offering because they have fiscally viable policies. High taxpayers are willing to pay for it because it’s fair. They will leave if it isn’t and making people pay more than half their salary in tax is NOT FAIR.

Equality of opportunity, not outcome - why is that controversial?

Dusty01 · 21/11/2019 21:47

Have the Conservatives released their manifesto yet? I thought it was due to come out on Sunday.

Trewser · 21/11/2019 21:47

Solihooley you've made my point rather well. A bit of tax here, a bit if tax there, not really hurting anyone except the super rich? How on earth is thst going to raise 82 billion 🤣🤣🤣

Justanotherlurker · 21/11/2019 21:48

If Labour win I will be hosting a party (more of a lunch with a bottle of wine) to celebrate the end of nearly 10 years of austerity, people struggling to make ends meet, privatisation, and closet racism.

Best laugh I've had since reading Labours manifesto.

The level of critical thinking you espouse is something to behold as why the MN meme of anyone center right is just easily led by tabloid headlines and lack of critical thinking is outright shite.

I personally want Corbyn to win so that we can go through another cycle of not true labour once real world politics get involved.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 21/11/2019 21:49

No, don't be ridiculous.

However if Johnson and his hard right No Deal cabal get in, they will trash this country and I might find I don't have enough money to live on so I might think about it then. If I can find somewhere (cheap enough ) that will have me.

FarTooMuchWashing · 21/11/2019 21:59

🤣🤣🤣 no!

Solihooley · 21/11/2019 22:03

Because rich people and companies will pay more tax? There will always be those that try to pay less and companies who go offshore (I mean most do already) but they can’t avoid it completely if they want to trade in th U.K. It’s inconceivable that they would completely cut themselves off from the U.K. market and make zero money rather than a bit less. Despite popular belief It’s getting increasingly hard to avoid personal tax without really convoluted schemes. Companies such as the big 4 that have the expertise are under a lot more scrutiny and don’t want to be seen as facilitating anything that might eventually be classed as tax evasion.

Dusty01 · 21/11/2019 22:05

Has the Conservative party released its manifesto yet?

Winterisnigh · 21/11/2019 22:06

I don't trust them even if they were honest, and their polices really could help the poor.

They are mis directed, they don't care about about everyone. Shoving more than money at the NHS won't fix it. Shoving money at schools won't help them.

There is rot and entrenchment everywhere. Get rid off that, change structures and then put money in. I don't trust them.

Trewser · 21/11/2019 22:07

82 billion pounds worth? I don't think so.

Diemme · 21/11/2019 22:09

I'm Jewish. I won't leave the country if labour get in but I will feel desperately depressed at having my suspiciouns confirmed. That antisemitism really is the last acceptable prejudice that people see no reason to be bothered by.

Alsohuman · 21/11/2019 22:12

Amazon, Google, Starbucks? I think he might.

Trewser · 21/11/2019 22:12

Diemme i had a really depressing conversation with someone on Facebook about this. They literally couldn't have cared less. Insisted the anti semitism slur was made up by the Jewish owned media. Awful.

borntobequiet · 21/11/2019 22:14

What Conservative manifesto? Have I missed it? Or is it Bozo making it up on a daily basis?

Trewser · 21/11/2019 22:14

Do you think they'll stay here after one year of having to pay 25 billion in tax? Lol.

Justanotherlurker · 21/11/2019 22:18

Because rich people and companies will pay more tax?

Which relies on a false premise of everything staying static and has no understanding of macro economics and a globalised economy, we have just spent the past 3 years discussing macro economics of brexit so to ignore those same arguments is lacking any kind of critical thinking and hoping for unicorns.

A more recent concrete example of the mobile rich moving country was our neighbours france, to think it won't happen here is just closing your eyes and tapping your heels magic thinking.

It’s inconceivable that they would completely cut themselves off from the U.K. market and make zero money rather than a bit less.

Full on brexiteer arguments, this is why labour and UK politics is a shit show.

matingmantas · 21/11/2019 22:18

I am moving either way. Brexit or Corbyn (or both!). Paid significant 6 figure tax for last 10 years. Never coming back to UK to pay so much for so little.

katiegoestoaldi · 21/11/2019 22:19

No I'd stay.

If Boris gets in I'd move to Scotland and vote for independence

Cherrysoup · 21/11/2019 22:19

Yup, said to my DH tonight that we’d have to emigrate. Who’s going to pay for the free care for old people I heard mentioned on the news tonight? How does he intend funding it?

longtimelurkerhelen · 21/11/2019 22:20

Amazon, Google, Starbucks? Do you think they'll stay here after one year of having to pay 25 billion in tax? Lol

I hope the do fuck off. The reason that Amazon is cheaper than everywhere else is because they pay little or no tax. I think it would help our other shops if they did stop undercutting every other business that do pay tax in this country.

Ed Sheeran paid more tax than Amazon? WHF Their workers have terrible conditions. What's to miss?

Diemme · 21/11/2019 22:21

Depressing but sadly not surprising trewser. The culture of proud, loud opposition to racism in any form doesn't extend to antisemitism.

Alsohuman · 21/11/2019 22:21

Do you think they'll stay here after one year of having to pay 25 billion in tax? Lol.

Lol as much as you like. Of course they will, they’ll still be making a profit. Just like they do in all the European countries with corporation tax at similar levels to the Labour proposals. Which are akin to Thatcher’s by the way.

Oliversmumsarmy · 21/11/2019 22:22

Selling our world revered NHS for a US trade deal? Insane. I could go on. You get the picture

Where does it say this.

JeffreeStar · 21/11/2019 22:23

Yup I’d leave! He wants all my families hard earned money. To give it to lazy buggers who want everything for nothing.

Justanotherlurker · 21/11/2019 22:25

Amazon, Google, Starbucks? I think he might.

The lack of of critical thinking on this thread is becoming hilarious.

Amazon EU Headquarters are in Luxembourg

Google are in Dublin

Both in the obviously 'right wing' EU, if you think it's a simplistic solution it would have already been done, its a grey area where you will no doubt trip yourself up, Corbyn cannot wave a magic wand over this.

The level of stupidity on MN is getting worse year by year.
