If so, where will you be going?

Haha. How many billionaires do you think read Mumsnet? And they always say they’ll leave and never do.

If you’re planning to leave though, you’ll have to avoid much of Northern Europe where most of the Labour manifesto has already been implemented without anything collapsing.

FizzyGreenWater · 21/11/2019 19:02

Lol.

no

although I suppose I might actually be able to afford to get the train to the airport if the railways do get re-nationalised.

tilder · 21/11/2019 19:03

People might love the idea of Corbyn. Until they have to pay for it. We can't. We would need a magic money forest.

Plus people with lots of money will leave, taking their taxes with them. As will business. Taking jobs and taxes.

Not all of course. But enough.

Extreme politics doesn't work. What makes me want to leave is that seems to be the only option. A very divided country. With 2 poor choices at the ballot box.

Grim.

cannycat20 · 21/11/2019 19:03

Definitely not. If, however, the Tories get in YET AGAIN (and they probably will, since they will do ANYTHING to make that happen including lie, cheat, dissemble, and censor, quite apart from all the greasy-palming bribes they specialise in - did you know they didn't even allow the Mirror reporter on one of their most recent BJ buses? Look it up) our plans to move north of the English/Scottish border will accelerate exponentially.

Once Scottish independence has been declared, I'll be applying to be a Scot. If we already lived in Scotland I'd be voting SNP this time round.

MT2017 · 21/11/2019 19:04

Boris and Trump - two men without a shred of common decency between them - both need to be kicked out.

BreconBeBuggered · 21/11/2019 19:06

Uh, no. I think it's unlikely anyway. I wish there were countries lining up to welcome escapees from Boris's Britain, though.

Venusflytart · 21/11/2019 19:06

I would celebrate, finally the UK would be moving away from the current neocon capitalist race to the bottom!

Littlepond · 21/11/2019 19:06

I’ll be celebrating!!

jewel1968 · 21/11/2019 19:06

Elections are lost not won.

Rockbird · 21/11/2019 19:07

Why would I? I don't want to live anywhere else. This is my home, I love living in the UK, it's where I know, where a lot of my family are and where my children were born. I'm not going to let a shit government (of any type) take all that away from me.

PuzzledObserver · 21/11/2019 19:09

Don’t be daft - this is my home. Not that I don’t daydream about living somewhere warm and relaxed, but that’s nothing to do with politics.

kjhkj · 21/11/2019 19:12

Wouldn't want to leave but the reality is that economic chaos could put DHs job in jeopardy and the most sensible thing for us to do if that did happen that case would be to look at options abroad.

However we are probably facing economic chaos whoever gets in given the stances on brexit.

Monkeynuts18 · 21/11/2019 19:14

No. I might try to leave if we end up with a hard Brexit under Boris but I suppose it will be too late by then as we (and millions of others) will probably be in negative equity.

SheSaidHummingbird · 21/11/2019 19:15

If I didn't abandon the UK in disgust when Boris became PM then nothing will.

DonkeyHotty · 21/11/2019 19:15

No way. We’ll be here celebrating the fact that there are clearly more intelligent, free thinkers in this country than we thought. If only...

TheABC · 21/11/2019 19:17

A hard Brexit would affect DH's job and my business. So we are more likely to move if the Tories get in. I also need to have a working school system and accessible healthcare, so being forced out would have some fringe benefits.

MunaZaldrizoti · 21/11/2019 19:19

If the Tories get into power again, after the horrors they have visited upon us, I am moving to Scotland and campaigning for independence.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 21/11/2019 19:19

If Corbyn doesn’t get in, l would like to flee to Scotland. Where shreds of sanity remain.

England us a horrible horrible nasty place right now. I hope a Corbyn does get elected and changes it all.

I HATE England at the moment

ChaoticKate · 21/11/2019 19:20

If I could, I would.

Corbyn will bankrupt the country. I’m not one of the richest 5% that will apparently be bankrolling everything and I would love to be able to vote for a credible liberal, fair and honest candidate. The people and companies that he will tax heavily will have the means and the motivation to flee; and flee they will. So the tax burden will roll downwards to the lower earners whilst our national debt grows ever larger. Meanwhile, those that create the wealth and drive industry in this country will have left. The state can’t employ everyone so what happens when employment goes into freefall? When corporation tax receipts fall because the rate has been hiked so much that the big companies simply leave? Where will the cash come from to fund everything?

I’m all for a fairer more compassionate politics but take it from me, voting for that man is not the way to get there.

MrsMaiselsMuff · 21/11/2019 19:20

I'll be staying.

When I next move I'm going back to a Labour constituency. My last two moves were Conservative and both MPs were (are) beyond useless, couldn't give a shit about local people and local issues. Complete contrast to the Labour seats I've lived in, where the MPs actually care and aren't scared to meet you.

MrsMaiselsMuff · 21/11/2019 19:22

The people and companies that he will tax heavily will have the means and the motivation to flee; and flee they will

Where will they flee to? Even under Labour's proposals, we still have the lowest corporation tax of all G7 countries.

CendrillonSings · 21/11/2019 19:22

Many businesses will certainly be fleeing the UK and taking their tax revenue with them. Hundreds of billions worth of liquid assets would be shifted at the touch of a button the moment a Labour victory looked like a realistic possibility.

Justanotherlurker · 21/11/2019 19:23

There will be a lot of bluster from the anonymous forum, same as in 2010, 15 and 17 how many posters here was going to move abroad if Tories won.

There will be some really mobile rich that would move if, happened in France, Valenzuela everywhere, they are rich and mobile for a reason.

Screamqueenz · 21/11/2019 19:25

Ireland.

Justanotherlurker · 21/11/2019 19:26

England us a horrible horrible nasty place right now. I hope a Corbyn does get elected and changes it all.

Yeah, Corbyn will not offer a magic wand, his manifesto is all bread and circuses.
