If so, where will you be going?

ffs so many people 'threatened' to leave after the 1st brexit departure date are they STILL here ?

treepolitics · 21/11/2019 20:49

Things can always get worse though, can’t they? Corbyn driving a lot of small businesses to the wall isn’t going to make a bad situation better.

Corbyn doesn’t take sensible advice, that’s what terrifies me, the mainstream economist that tried to work with him gave up

Trewser · 21/11/2019 20:51

And he hates business, so won't give a shit if businesses close. All the more employees for the super state!

ZaZathecat · 21/11/2019 20:52

No it would encourage me to stay.

Petrichor11 · 21/11/2019 20:53

Would love it if all the Boris Johnson fans left the country if Labour was elected! Especially if they take the giant cockwomble with them.

Trewser · 21/11/2019 20:56

Well Labour won't get in, because their manifesto is nuts. Shame, because we could have done with a more centrist Labour party. I miss the Blair years.

KnowBetterDoBetter · 21/11/2019 20:56

We would leave as having been in business all my life, and never avoided any tax ever, l am not willing to see my secure retirement eaten away by Corbyn's ludicrous unsustainable spending and aggresive taxation on the 'secure but not exceptionally wealthy' people like myself.

Fuck the starving kids, disabled people committing suicide due to benefit cuts, the teachers & nurses using food banks and the pensioners freezing to death - if it means you have a couple of hundred less pounds to pay into your secure retirement fund?

FoamingAtTheUterus · 21/11/2019 20:59

Well I've not fled under the hell that is the Tories. So no. 💁🏻‍♀️

CendrillonSings · 21/11/2019 20:59

Would love it if all the Boris Johnson fans left the country if Labour was elected!

Then who would be left to pay Corbyn’s insane taxes? You? Grin

Icantreachthepretzels · 21/11/2019 21:01

Yes - I'll definitely be running away from this:

twitter.com/jeremycorbyn/status/1197533872310947846

who would want any of that? Hmm

The labour manifesto is fully costed. They already have a plan for how to pay for it all.

Perhaps some companies will leave (although corporation tax would still be lower than it was under Thatcher and lower than it is in the other G7 countries so...) But the fact is Tory austerity has caused 100 000 needless deaths, caused use of food banks to sky rocket by 1000% and seen a massive increase in homelessness and child poverty and still has managed to increase the national debt. Add in the fact that their 2017 manifesto was not costed, we do not know if their 2019 one will be and - even if it is - it won't be taking into account the giant sucking black void that is the hard brexit they will force on us and ... yeah, I'm willing to take the gamble that under labour some companies might leave.

Pomegranatepompom · 21/11/2019 21:01

Both are awful, I don't want to fund Jeremys magic money tree though. I wish there was a more palatable middle ground, libs dems with a different leader, a different labour leader even.

There will be no point in working long hours, working in stressful jobs.

TheFuckingDogs · 21/11/2019 21:02

Also this argument about the wealthy companies leaving and the tax being passed to middle then lower level companies is bullshit - most of Europe has tax systems similar to what Corbyn is proposing - is Germany crippled? Are the Scandinavians wondering around fighting each other for the last loaf of bread? No.

nonsenceagain · 21/11/2019 21:03

Business exodus if Labour win? Do you have any idea how much business has already left because of Brexit uncertainty and how many more will leave if the Tories force through a no deal Brexit? The Tories are the 'fuck business' party, remember?

KnowBetterDoBetter · 21/11/2019 21:03

*Oh no, how awful, a fair country with well funded public services. Run, run to lands were only the rich have a good standard of living, and we can have slave labour, exploit the poor and let ill people die so they will no longer burden society.

That bastard Corbyn.*

This. I'm sure that there must be some kind hearted people who vote for the tories for other reasons bar the fact that they give literally no shits for anybody else, but this is the overarching rhetoric coming from them. And to think that they keep winning elections, and are very likely to win the next one - because the majority of people in our society hold these views?! It's terrifying.

TheMidasTouch · 21/11/2019 21:04

No. What a strange idea.

Do you think it's rational to move abroad when a particular political party comes to power? Do you move back when a different party gets in? You do realise that you can't just up and decide to live in a country of your choice don't you?

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 21/11/2019 21:05

I’d happily pay Corbyn’s ‘insane’ taxes.

I’d prefer to live in a country that looks after its young, it’s old and it’s sick. That’s the measure of a civilised humane society,

Not one that’s screws them all like now

Alsohuman · 21/11/2019 21:05

Corbyn hates business and enterprise, without which Britain will suffer badly. I wish you could all see that.

Johnson “Fuck business”.

Oliversmumsarmy · 21/11/2019 21:09

Also this argument about the wealthy companies leaving and the tax being passed to middle then lower level companies is bullshit - most of Europe has tax systems similar to what Corbyn is proposing

But what he proposes and who ends up paying are 2 different things.

You cannot compare it to other EU countries because no one knows who is going to be taxed.

I don’t think Labour stand a chance of getting in.

Whatever the opinion polls say I would add a few more points on the Tory lead.

Oliversmumsarmy · 21/11/2019 21:10

Do you think it's rational to move abroad when a particular political party comes to power? Do you move back when a different party gets in? You do realise that you can't just up and decide to live in a country of your choice don't you

You can if you have enough money.

nonsenceagain · 21/11/2019 21:11

I don't think they will either. But I will vote for them because I believe in fairness and decency, and yes, I'm a higher tax payer and very happy to pay more.

Binkybix · 21/11/2019 21:11

As it happens I’m leaving for a bit anyway... partly driven by being sick to the back teeth of Brexit.

Spain Dh has to stay because he has cancer so will commute. My income will be decimated

Is your DH having to stay because he needs to use the NHS?

FriedasCarLoad · 21/11/2019 21:14

No. It’s usually rather silly people who threaten to flounce out of the country after the opposing side wins, whether Kinnock, Brexit, or Corbyn.

Same sort of people who assume that those who disagree with them must be brainwashed, stupid, uninformed, economically illiterate, greedy, entitled, etc. Wink

Angela9 · 21/11/2019 21:14

Another conservative term of austerity might just kill me, so whatever way I feel a bit marooned on this island where people hate people like me for daring to be people like me. Poor, sick, single mothers, we are here literally just to line The pockets of newspaper columnists Y'know

littlepaddypaws · 21/11/2019 21:14

whoever gets in, they won't do anything they are promising now, it's just to get into power. the country has been royally fucked over by labour and conservative in the past that's not going to change.

Justanotherlurker · 21/11/2019 21:15

The labour manifesto is fully costed. They already have a plan for how to pay for it all.

Is that you Dianne Abbot?

Shows you have no understanding of even the first 2 weeks of an economics class.

The Labour manifesto has not been fully costed at all, they conveniently missed out the price of nationalisation, they couldn't even get the real numbers of how much on going costs of internet infrastructure costs.

It is costed for those who like to work of the back of a fag packet, and those who are easily led.
