If so, where will you be going?

I might consider coming back. Left three years ago in despair at what the Torys had turned Britain into after just 6 years.

StoutDrinker2019 · 21/11/2019 20:01

If the Tories win we will move to Scotland but we were planning that anyway. It will speed us along a bit though! People have such short memories, it was a labour PM who brought in the NHS (Attlee) and the biggest shake up in welfare support in history. The country was thriving. We've never had a real chance since then to prove that economic distribution policies can work. And I do hope you are right @TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince! Am I am a business owner and yes I will pay more bloody taxes if I need to. But then I am not a self serving individual narcissist. I am a socialist, a humanist and proud of it.

Pomley · 21/11/2019 20:01

But there's loads of free stuff Dragon! It'll be great, and who needs aspiration anyway. Also who needs tax money, as most of it will be escaping overseas.

Ferretyone · 21/11/2019 20:01

Corbyn will probably be controlled by the rest of the party and will not have a long stay as leader I predict. I really hope [pray?] for a hung parliament so that we can get some sensible left/centre policies

@oliwki

AgeLikeWine · 21/11/2019 20:02

I really don’t think even the most rabid Corbyn-hater will be particularly worried. They certainly won’t be making plans to leave the country. If opinion polls mean anything at all, Labour are going to be absolutely smashed in this election.

The hard left won’t care about that, of course, as long as they can maintain control of Labour and continue to obsess about ideology and Palestine.

CendrillonSings · 21/11/2019 20:03

Corbyn will probably be controlled by the rest of the party and will not have a long stay as leader I predict.

Most of the rest of his party is just as extreme as he is, so no luck there. Tom Watson’s left, and the moderates have given up the ghost.

Echobelly · 21/11/2019 20:04

I should add that as a Jew I am far more worried about right wing populism than left-wing populism.

Tory or coalition gov probably = Brexit, generally more likely to lead to increasing shift to the right and nutters getting in. Muslims more and more demonised, including by people pretending to care about Jews, which actually puts Jews in more danger by creating a more intolerant society and distrust of people 'Not Like Us'

Labour, for all their failings, are unlikely to create a more intolerant society - whereas the Tories are already doing so.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 21/11/2019 20:05

‘Without exception every one has an exit plan’

Good riddance. Bye bye

Davros · 21/11/2019 20:06

Umm No I wouldn’t be leaving. Whoever wins, the UK will not be a bad country. Most of us should feel very privileged to live here so many worse countries exist.
Agree 100%
Eeeee I remember all this talk of leaving if Maggie got in. No-one did. The country went through various political cycles and continues to do so. It's still my home and the place I want to live. Toughen up

PelvicFloorTrauma · 21/11/2019 20:09

Switzerland

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 21/11/2019 20:11

I think England is already a bad country

shiningstar2 · 21/11/2019 20:13

No ...I won't be leaving if Corbyn gets in.

Vanhi · 21/11/2019 20:14

If Labour get in I'll happily stay put. If the Tories get in (sadly quite likely, fuck knows why) I would rather move. The problem is I'm not sure where to or who will have me. If Scotland leaves the UK and remains in the EU that would be ideal. Unfortunately I don't speak a second language and since I'm pushing 50 I'm not sure how many other places I could move to. Australia doesn't appeal. America has Trump and even if he goes, it's still the country that elected Trump. Canada might be a possibility.

God I don't want to be in an England that's pro-Brexit and pro-Tory. It's such a hate-filled, nasty place.

Dusty01 · 21/11/2019 20:15

I will definitely consider leaving the Uk if Boris/Tories get in on 13th. Not sure where I’d go. But I am terrified of the state our country will be in after another five years of the Tories.

I imagine the UK will become a dictatorship of sorts under the New Look Tory party.

Andcake · 21/11/2019 20:16

No - I’m hoping for a hung parliament to create a lab - lib pact. I’m voting about as best chance to beat a Tory in my constituency.
I wish I could leave under Torys 😞

I’m sick of privileged white men like Boris and Prince Andrew’s lack of empathy

Oliversmumsarmy · 21/11/2019 20:16

All those saying good riddance. Will you be picking up the tab for the £140 billion Labour want to spend.

MaMaMaMySharona · 21/11/2019 20:16

I would throw the biggest party of my life if labour got in next month. I have friends who work in social services who are at their wits end trying to help families who have entirely lost hope.

I can’t stand the idea of another 5 years of tories.

CremeEggThief · 21/11/2019 20:17

Definitely not, but I might if the Tories win.Angry

Trewser · 21/11/2019 20:18

No, because I employ people and I won't fuck them over. Unless Corbyn screws my business, in which case we'd have no immediate reason to stay.

Oliversmumsarmy · 21/11/2019 20:20

Unfortunately I don't speak a second language and since I'm pushing 50 I'm not sure how many other places I could move to

I am pushing 60 and have no fear of learning a 2nd or 3rd language.

I wouldn’t let age get in the way of learning new skills

WoollyMollyMonkey · 21/11/2019 20:20

Well I’m not sure Corbyn would be my first choice, but the alternative would be (is!) an effing nightmare! How on earth are people being taken in by that lying shit Johnson? .

Dragongirl10 · 21/11/2019 20:21

To those who scoff at wealth leaving fast in the instance of a Corbyn government, please google..wealth exodus if Corbyn wins...every paper from The Guardian to The Telegraph, to Forbes magazine and even The Mirror is reporting on this.......
To the poster who said good riddance, assuming these individuals are paying 45%tax as say a lawyer or banker on say, 1million a year...do you really want them to take all that income away ? all 500K or so..per individual.
How many bin men or nurses or teachers paying tax does there need to be to put that income into the coffers?
Money cannot go into services if there isn't enough, its very simple.

popsadaisy · 21/11/2019 20:22

Bit extreme to leave the country isn't it?!
I will be very happy if labour win defo won't be leaving the country but would happily wave anyone off who was that unhappy they felt they had to leave the country!!!! Byeeeeee 👋🏼

Dapplegrey · 21/11/2019 20:23

No? Nutters say this every election. They never do.

I remember a thread when quite a few people said they would leave if Brexit won the referendum - not sure how many did, or will if Brexit ever happens.

treepolitics · 21/11/2019 20:23

The whole choose set is a nightmare - the IFS analysis. Labour trying to do too many things and unlikely to be able to raise the tax where they say they will because companies and people adjust their behaviour when taxes change
