If so, where will you be going?

No, of course not. Why on earth would I?

gemma19846 · 22/11/2019 19:32

No! We need a massive change from the Tories. Whyyyyy would anyone vote Tory when weve seen what theyve done to this country already. JC4PM 💙

Justanotherlurker · 22/11/2019 19:36

Funny, that ...

It was because of the right wing media.

BrokenBrit · 22/11/2019 19:42

Would only consider leaving if BJ and the hard right tories get in and crash us out of the EU.

I hope the Labour Party get in and transform the country for the better.

curlykaren · 22/11/2019 19:42

Did the OP ever come back?
The entire rabid right wing cadre seem to be having a night off tonight, there's actually some reasonable discussion on the boards, unhindered by the incessant ugliness that has become something of a regular feature. I wonder if they're all manning the 'factcheck' twitter feed.

You mean the thread has been nothing but momentum play book social media posts?

organise.peoplesmomentum.com/canvassing

The astroturfing is not coming from the right, the same style of comments are being promoted among discord channels.

'I earn above 80K and will never vote tory', 'I previously voted Tory... but lying and democracy...'

It is textbook astroturfing on MN at the minute.

longtimelurkerhelen · 22/11/2019 19:55

I must say I am pleasantly surprised by the number of people that will vote for Labour. I thought MN was a Tory stronghold. It does give me hope.

ari11 · 22/11/2019 19:58

No I won’t but will be considering it if blustering Boris gets in!!

Theworldisfullofgs · 22/11/2019 19:59

More likely to think about leaving if the Tories get a clear majority.

curlykaren · 22/11/2019 20:02

@Justanotherlurker feel free to search peoples names, as did I with the OP. The only posts ever made under that user name is this one.

Angela9 · 22/11/2019 20:04

@longtimelurkerhelen

Don't get too excited! Mumsnet lured me into a false sense of security that the Brexit shit show would never get voted for, weird to think there was ever a Britain in which we weren't leaving the EU it's been going on so long.

I'd love to get the conservatives out finally though. They've had around a decade, I think it's time we had a change

longtimelurkerhelen · 22/11/2019 20:08

@Angela9 Grin

If I never hear the B word again it will be too soon.

I am keeping a lid on my hope, but it is there nonetheless.

Justanotherlurker · 22/11/2019 20:57

When name changing is encouraged, it means nothing.

It's a problem on MN, it has obvious benefits, but also massive flaws. Doesn't distract from my point that obvious astroturfing is at play.

Alsohuman · 22/11/2019 21:02

Is astroturfing your word for the day to be posted ad nauseum @Justanotherlurker?

MarshmallowMuggle · 22/11/2019 21:04

Really? You think it’s “illogical” to fear that someone who has never had to do any more than play the backbench rebel his entire life, who has never negotiated a business contract or even worked for a business, might be absolutely clueless at negotiating on the world stage? Wow.

(Not that I think Johnson will do much better, frankly. I’m no lover of the current shower on either side. I had been planning to vote Lib Dem, but now I can’t stand Swanson either.)

But if you think that Corbyn is up to the job when he’s never been allowed anything more than the back benches and a safe seat until very recently, and so much of his manifesto is so woefully under costed and not worked out, that’s peculiar to me.

Justanotherlurker · 22/11/2019 21:05

I must say I am pleasantly surprised by the number of people that will vote for Labour. I thought MN was a Tory stronghold. It does give me hope.

You have a different meaning of long time lurker then, this forum was in melt down in 2017, 2015 and 2010 with multiple threads of how labour is going to win the election and everyone voting tory is just a racist rich bigot who doesn't care about the working class, until election day when there are loads of threads about people crying and moving to australia or canada because the tories wanted to restrict immigration policies.

You have missed how out of touch MN has been in the past few decade, and it isn't because it was full of Tory supporters.

Pumpkinpie1 · 22/11/2019 21:25

I actually think anyone who says they won’t vote for a party because of its leader needs their heads examining.Especially when the media is conducting a witch hunt to the likes I have never seen.No other politician gets this
The tories since 2010 have conducted the laziest arrogant government with no long term plan just short term spin They lie about everything and anyone who questions them is labelled left
It’s actually frightening
I am not normally a labour voter but I think at least labour want to make positive change.Unlike Boris & the tories who just want to sell off the nhs and bleed this country dry I want my children to have a n NHS that’s fit for purpose that’s no possible under this Story Party if a government

longtimelurkerhelen · 22/11/2019 21:36

@Justanotherlurker I'm sorry I haven't lurked long enough for you. I only started reading MN in 2018.

You seem quite aggressive. We are all just expressing our opinions. I have no doubt that there are paid agent provocateurs for all the parties but I do recognise quite a few names on this thread, but then again I haven't been here that long, so what do I know. Hmm

How about not voting for labour considering the shit show of the shadow cabinet, what mental hoops will you jump through then.

We have a shadow cabinet who has openly said they are marxist and overtly calling for violent opposition, we can ignore that one and move onto the PR guy who has been openly a russian apologist in his guardian articles or we could move furher afield to the race baiting shadow home sec who said white Scandinavian nursers can't treat BAME patients, maybe move onto the the race baiting Lammy and all that entails, and why pointing out Tower Hamlets is considered racist.

The tories since 2010 have conducted the laziest arrogant government with no long term plan just short term spin They lie about everything and anyone who questions them is labelled left

You showing you would rather kick the can down the road to future generations is not the tories having long term plan, your ignorance is obvious.

Oh we are doing the weak momentum push on social media.

To think this place isn't being astroturfed is astonishing, MNHQ needs to crack down on this shit.

midnightmisssuki · 22/11/2019 21:44

What a ridiculous thread. How easy do you think it is to move OP? Is there some magic land where you are guaranteed a job, no need for visas etc? Confused

Justanotherlurker · 22/11/2019 21:47

I'm not aggressive, you ignoring the points I raised and still try to muddy the waters highlights your posts than it does mine.

An obvious social media activist caught out is obvious.

Just name change and try again next week.

StoneofDestiny · 22/11/2019 21:50

Just what an imbecile of a PM we have,

Boris Johnson refuses to apologise for Islamophobic and homophobic comments

Boris Johnson has defended his notorious comments about “tank-topped bum boys” and Muslim women looking like “letterboxes”, saying: “I defend my right to speak out”

The prime minister faced a hostile audience over his past newspaper columns, with the accusation that he had “personally contributed” to rampant racism in Britain

But he denied they were offensive – claiming they could only be “made to seem offensive” if taken out of context

Solihooley · 22/11/2019 21:57

I Wish they’d show more of the shadow cabinet, in particular Kier Starmer, I think he's great. I haven't yet seen any answers that illustrate where people will move to and how/why they will be better off there. I’ve seen several people arguing against labour admit that taxes need to be raised for everyone to tackle inequality yet they haven’t explained why this wouldn’t lead to a ‘mass exodus’ of wealth and business. I’m still waiting for someone some to enlighten me.

SinkGirl · 22/11/2019 22:02

Oh we are doing the weak momentum push on social media.

Again, it’s the tories who have been open about paying people to sing their praises on the internet. And there are many regular posters here, myself included, using their regular usernames saying precisely the same thing.

People are dying because of this government’s policies. The country is worse off by almost every measure because of their policies. So you can spout utter nonsense as much as you like but in no universe is another tory term the best option for this country or the vast majority of people in it.

Hellofromtheotherside2020 · 22/11/2019 22:06

I already left 4 years ago. Can honestly say that I felt like I'd jumped a sinking ship.
