And don’t I bloody regret it. Currently trying to make the inner glass clear again whist I wait for the cleaning stuff to work on the inside.

Haven’t cleaned the oven once since we moved in May. How often do you normally clean your oven?

Always seems like such a big job.

I don’t have a cleaner, or any other outside help. I budget carefully for birthdays and Christmas. Heck, I budget for every weekly shop, same as most people. And included in my household budget is £50 per year for my oven to be cleaned.

He can do what I could never do. Or if I could, it would take me days. My oven is cleaned to what he describes as ‘bombproof’ . It’s immaculate. And worth every penny.

Grease, by its very nature, sticks to surfaces. No fan can make it airborne.

No, grease starts off as fat either on a joint of meat or in the bottom of a baking tray. The heat of the oven and the fan make some of that fat into aerosols that then coat the roof, sides and bottom of the oven.

We got ours in June and it wouldn't have crossed my mind to clean it yet. It's pretty much spotless! When I was living with my parents I think the thing got cleaned once in the 16 years we had it.

Once a year, pyrolytic. I hate doing it as it makes the house stink. I clean the oven liner every so often but doesn't tend to get dirty. It's the racks and the door which are a nightmare to clean but inspired by this thread I might stick them.in the dishwasher tomorrow and see how they come up.

Ovens aren’t “ covered in food”. It’s just carbonised stuff sure. can see why you need to clean them ( maybe) to keep the oven working but it’s not really a health and safety issue with regards to food.

I'm having mine done on Monday. I am soooo excited (sad) It's 4 years old and I've cleaned it myself maybe 4/5 times but ovenpride just doesn't get it 100% clean

OnTheFenceWithMostViews · 17/11/2019 00:08

Used to do once a month with the oven pride. But sinc ebeing pregnant I havent as the fumes make me sick.
So instead I use soapybwater after each use. Only a quick flick.
Then get it professionally done when I think about it maybe every 3m? Possibly longer. And will continue to do so.. Its £20 and takes 15mins.. No fumes and no fuss.

I don't think I've cleaned mine in 6 years. The shelves get put through the dishwasher occasionally though.

Aren't a lot of ovens self-cleaning nowadays?

Mistigri · 17/11/2019 07:59

I have a pyrolytic oven and I've used the pyrolytic cleaning option once in 2.5 years. It doesn't really get dirty (but I don't roast joints of meat in it).

BrightYellowDaffodil · 17/11/2019 08:15

@Heartburn888 No, none of my ovens have ever smelt.

BertieBotts · 17/11/2019 10:43

People who clean their ovens every couple of months and claim that a dirty oven smells probably have never had a dirty oven, so what would they know?
