And don’t I bloody regret it. Currently trying to make the inner glass clear again whist I wait for the cleaning stuff to work on the inside.

Haven’t cleaned the oven once since we moved in May. How often do you normally clean your oven?

Always seems like such a big job.

Cleaned it yesterday for the first time since we moved in nearly a year ago. The oven is pyrolytic too so we really don’t have an excuse for such laziness!

Oly4 · 16/11/2019 15:27

Barely ever.
Only when glass looks really grubby.
And of co the the high temps kill bugs.. which is why we’re all still alive!

ActualHornist · 16/11/2019 15:28

Can’t remember. It’s DH’s responsibility and he’s a lazy shite so I suspect not for a couple of years.

WaddIelikeapenguin · 16/11/2019 15:29

Cleaning the oven was part of late pregnancy nesting for me... youngest is 4 Grin

Pussinboots25 · 16/11/2019 15:30

Not often enough, I dread cleaning the oven. We moved into our house and the oven was left (only a year old) and it was vile. It got cleaned then and I kind of keep on top of it but it’s no where near clean. Maybe I should pay for someone to professionally clean it Grin

kitk · 16/11/2019 15:30

@Newernewist I use a bit of kitchen spray with bleach but I reckon it'd work without

Renoirsdancer · 16/11/2019 15:36

You've just reminded me to book the oven cleaner to come before Christmas, I hate doing it myself and I'm crap at it anyway so it's worth every penny of £35!

ainsisoisje · 16/11/2019 15:37

Used Oven pride moving out of rental house and the oven looked better than when I moved in. £1 from the pound shop and cleans like a dream.

PixieDustt · 16/11/2019 15:49

Every week

PegasusReturns · 16/11/2019 15:49

I have pyrolytic ovens but you still need to take out the metal racks and clean those separately which is pretty tedious.

I get a man in to clean mine every 6mths and wipe up spills as I go. I'm a bit horrified that some people haven't cleaned them for years!

icecreamsundae32 · 16/11/2019 15:50

Every couple of months. I use "Elbow grease" spray and it's so easy! Literally spray, leave for 5 mins and then wipe! Used to use oven pride but hate the smell. Also have used steam cleaner attachment and that's pretty good too.

reginafelangee · 16/11/2019 15:51

My husband cleaned ours a few weeks ago.

I am pretty sure its the first time its been cleaned since we bought the house in 2013.

cheesenpickles · 16/11/2019 15:53

The man is coming this week to clean both of mine AND replace a bulb. No way am I mucking about with oven cleaner, that stuff is corrosive.

Strugglingtodomybest · 16/11/2019 16:00

I do mine once a year maybe.

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/11/2019 16:02

I wipe it after every use with a soapy e cloth.

It would smell if I didn’t. Like next doors gas bbq that they never clean and stinks of rancid grease every time they use it 🤢

theconstantinoplegardener · 16/11/2019 16:03

I usually clean mine right before my mother-in-law's annual visit.

Honeyroar · 16/11/2019 16:12

@Troopers lane How did you blow it up by cleaning it?😆 laughing with you, not at you, it's just the sort of thing I'd do!!

GinisLife · 16/11/2019 16:17

Mines booked in for first week of December. Brand new 2 years ago. Never cleaned it. Having a new kitchen though and the Oven position will change so visitors will be able to see it's dirty 😂

I'm booking a man to come and do it right after I'm done with all the messy Christmas and New Year cooking.

ChristmasFluff · 16/11/2019 16:35

I think I might win the 'dirty oven' contest.

I got a man in to clean it recently, and I calculated I hadn't cleaned it for 15 years.

Yes, it was minging. I have no excuse except I don't like cleaning ovens and I live a busy life.

No regrets.

Cornettoninja · 16/11/2019 16:41

I put in an oven liner when it was new and have only had to clean the liner

I find those good for catching the muck that otherwise welds itself to the bottom but food still steams and spits in the oven, the racks, sides, roof and door still need doing. You see it more with glass doors.

I dunno, maybe we’re just unusually messy cooks.

SweetPetrichor · 16/11/2019 16:42

Ours has never been cleaned in all the time we've lived here...so 4 years. It looks fine, if I spill something inside it I wipe it up, but I can't be bothered with deep cleaning.

BatEaredFox · 16/11/2019 16:43

Three years since mine was cleaned. no plans to do it anytime soon

I'm still alive...

ElusiveOrangeTwirl · 16/11/2019 16:44

DankGraveGhouls wow your dad is Mr Muscle, so cool.
