Just that, really. It’ s not a Christmas film. Just because it’s set at Christmas does not not make it so.
My husband disagrees with me , counter arguing that in that case, It’s A Wonderful Life isn’t a Christmas film( it most certainly is)!

Me and DH watch 30 days of night every Christmas Eve wrapping the presents. To us that's now a Christmas film (at least it has snow). Each to their own

Gremlins is definitely a Christmas film. It has Christmas music, snow, decorations, a Christmas tree...Gizmo was a Christmas present. It's a fantastic film. I remember going to see it at the pictures when it first came out.

I've never understood why it's called a Christmas film it may be set at Christmas but a Christmas tree Santa and some decorations don't make a Christmas film.
Now of course a Wonderful Life is a Christmas Film

I love Christmas, but I can't stand mawkish, sentimental crap like It's a Wonderful Life. Die Hard is definitely a Christmas film! I don't watch it every Christmas though, unlike The Box of Delights series, which is my yearly Christmas treat!

A Christmas film needs some kind of message.

But I do look forward to Holiday Inn, The Great Escape, The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins and other films that are family favourites at Christmas.

Definitely a Xmas movie. A tradition in this house and Ds1 is finally old enough to join us this year!
