I honestly don't understand why anyone who cares about anyone other than themselves would vote Tory.

The guardian?! Absolutely awful news source And yes - I vote Tory, and surprise, I care about people too. Shock horror 🤷🏻‍♀️

ilovetofu · 15/11/2019 22:58

165% increase in homelessness since Tories took power:

The Guardian backed the Lib Dem’s in the last election.

underneaththeash · 15/11/2019 23:07

Because of the labour leader maybe? Who is not only an anti-semite will also bankrupt the country in a few months and need seven years of austerity to get out of it again.......

Superfoodie123 · 15/11/2019 23:08

F the Tories and the selfish island they live on!

Walkingdeadfangirl · 15/11/2019 23:08

I love this country, I do not know how any one would want to destroy it by voting for Corbyn.

@ilovetofu that article you've linked from the independent related to falling line expectancy in Scotland, who are pretty independent (and more left-wing) than the rest of the UK......

I think you are politiking rather than actual posting something to have a debate.

granny24 · 15/11/2019 23:15

If you vote Conservative, you don't care about anyone else, especially those who are poorer or more disadvantaged than you. it's of independent sources have proved that tens of thousands of people have died because of the policies you support. You justify this by saying loony lefty to policies that would not raise an eyebrow in those notoriously communist countries such as Norway and Denmark. Most of you display such ignorance of social history and economics I despair.

ssd · 15/11/2019 23:15

I agree op. You only have to look at todays headlines , the NHS is consistently not making its targets. So what do we do, vote in more of the same... Yes please

ilovetofu · 15/11/2019 23:17

Just making the point that there are other sources highlighting the current Tory shitshow... not just the Guardian folks...

Op, did you watch question time last week when it came to Glasgow? Put the tories right back in their place.

JimmyGrimble · 15/11/2019 23:19

Still no concerns about what Baroness Warsi had to say? And the racist mansplaining that ensued from Conservative HQ? Nothing to say about them taking money from the Russians? Naah. Thought not.

JimmyGrimble · 15/11/2019 23:25

And as if most Tory voters give a shiny shit about anti semitism.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 15/11/2019 23:45

People are going to fucking food banks and Labour want to spend billions not on getting rid of the welfare cuts but on giving people free broadband. Why the hell - HOW the hell - could anyone vote for them? I couldn't care less how many opinion pieces are linked to and it doesn't matter what the Tories have done. Labour will not do a single thing about any of it. They'll keep the cuts because they'd rather give freebies to the rich. (and no, I won't be voting for the Tories either)

Episcomama · 15/11/2019 23:48

@VanyaHargreeves The problem began with the Ref @angemorange the GBP should never have been asked a question that elected representatives already existed to answer and were far more qualified to answer - we've been in chaos since

I completely agree.

motherheroic · 15/11/2019 23:56

So it seems that those voting Tory are
of the 'every man for themselves' mentality.

If the Tories win you better pray there isn't an event that leaves you disabled/homeless/mentally ill.

Whattodoabout · 15/11/2019 23:59

I overheard a conversation between two elderly men yesterday in which one said ‘I don’t know how anyone who has an ounce of empathy can vote for the Tories. They’re killing people, they always do. They’re not a party for the working man, they’re a party for the elite.’

I completely agreed and wanted to tell him but felt bad for earwigging Grin.

CendrillonSings · 16/11/2019 00:02

Amazing that the conversation you overheard is word-for-word what every Labour supporter posts on Mumsnet. What a coincidence!

crosstalk · 16/11/2019 00:13

Do research PFI which the Labour Party went into in a big way It meant hospitals and schools were built on the never never loaned by private companies which demanded extortionate amounts back and closed the wards that were built and crippled some schools. But it kept it off the government books for a while. I'm not sure if you remember Iraq and the lies that took us into the 2nd invasion? Or who introduced university fees? I am not voting for them since they can't clear out their antisemitic stable and I'm not keen on any party like the LibDems who are happy to ignore women's rights and safety. And I agree about the sheer ignorance of the Tories about the impact of some of their policies. So which way should I vote

BritWifeinUSA · 16/11/2019 00:18

Depends on your priorities I guess. Broadband or lower taxes. You pays your money and you takes your choices.

Mayborn · 16/11/2019 00:33

So serious question for labour voters, are you prepared to pay more to deliver Labour’s policies if (when) the real wealth creators leave the country because of Corbyn, taking with them taxes and jobs? It’s a very real possibility, we’d be taken ever closer toward his utopia that the gap between high and low earners narrows, but sadly it would not be because low earners begin to earn more. It would be because all the high earners leave and there no incentive for companies to pay the levels they used to. So the low earners would stay and tax on everyone would increase proportionately in order to plug the gap from the people and jobs who leave.
