I honestly don't understand why anyone who cares about anyone other than themselves would vote Tory.

Tory is best for us and our family, everyone ha to look out for themselves.

Seriously? And that doesn't keep you awake at night? It sounds like Lord of the Flies. Definitely not like a decent and civilised British person or even a Christian. What has gone wrong with this country?

Boysey45 · 15/11/2019 20:25

Its not just about me and my family though is it?

CendrillonSings · 15/11/2019 20:27

Definitely not like a decent and civilised British person or even a Christian. What has gone wrong with this country?

So to be decent I have to vote for the party of antisemitism and socialism? Thanks, but I’ll pass!

XingMing · 15/11/2019 20:30

People do their best looking out for their families and close friends. Rather less well when they aim to please everyone. Big time pleasers (most politicians) just fail because they try to be everything to everybody, and it doesn't please anyone.

InsertFunnyUsername · 15/11/2019 20:31

Maybe that's it. Tories make it clear they look out for themselves and people like them, that attracts the voters who hold the same values. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a hippy dippy wants everything for free type person. I just think it might be good for me and my family currently but if shit were to hit the fan, me or DP unable to work what sort of government do I want in power? Certainly not the one who blames the ill, the unfortunate or the beaten down by the system for their situation. It could easily be me, or my DD if I were too die tomorrow. We are one bad event away from being at the bottom of the pile, I learnt that lesson when I was a teen and will never forget it.

cardibach · 15/11/2019 20:32

I haven’t read the full thread as the ‘Labour will bankrupt us as usual’ posters were winding me up. This is just not true.

I honestly don't understand why anyone who cares about anyone other than themselves would vote Tory.
Alsohuman · 15/11/2019 20:35

for an aged, fat population, which is the NHS's real crisis. Stop taking cakes to work.

The aged fat population are the least of our worries, their diabetes, a heart attack or stroke will probably carry them off. The ageing population we need to worry about are the ones who live to a ripe old age, physically fit but away with the fairies. Dementia is the ticking time bomb.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 15/11/2019 20:36

The only real way to stop the Tories from winning the election is to vote labour (in England) voting Green (as I shall do) or Libdems is wasted if the the only intention is to stop the Tories winning but that is not why I vote

I’ve never believed voting labour meant I am morally superior like so many seem to

And voting for this shame of a Labour Party no one can claim the moral high ground it’s laughable to think you possibly do

Mistlewoeandwhine · 15/11/2019 20:39

Boris could not even say how many children he has today on TV. He is a truly unethical human being. Corbyn sincerely wants to improve the lives of ordinary people.

Wilberforce1 · 15/11/2019 20:41

Yes seriously. I will vote for what is best for us and I make no apologies for not voting for the arsehole poster boy for antisemitism. Oh but wait maybe I will just for the free broadband 🤔

HelloCheeky · 15/11/2019 20:41

So to be decent I have to vote for the party of antisemitism and socialism? Thanks, but I’ll pass!

No, but you could decide not to vote for the Tory party ?

XingMing · 15/11/2019 20:42

Yes, I'd have to add the demented to the equation. DMIL is there already and working out what's best for her needs is a constant challenge, but she's 90 and won't go on forever. Age we can do nothing about, but fat (and pre diabetic or type 2 diabetic) at 15 or 55, is a big issue. Obesity and its complications absorbs 10% of the NHS budget and workload.

JusticeForSandra · 15/11/2019 20:42

Most of us would love a 4 day week, a higher salary, less tax, better NHS with no waiting time, the cure for all cancer and world peace.
If I did believe that Labour would deliver all of this and more, I would vote for them. I'd be happy to retire tomorrow if I could too!

I don't believe any of their promise is realistic and sustainable though. So why on earth should I vote for a party who is talking utter nonsense?

XingMing · 15/11/2019 20:43

Hate me for fat-shaming.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 15/11/2019 20:44

Corbyn wants to seriously improve the lives of ordinary people

Yes fails to tackle the awful and frightening anti Semitism in his own party and has actively ignored it

Hmm
Alsohuman · 15/11/2019 20:46

Yes, I'd have to add the demented to the equation

Those are people living with dementia. People. I hope your husband has greater compassion than you.

Oliversmumsarmy · 15/11/2019 20:47

Corbyn sincerely wants to improve the lives of ordinary people

I am an ordinary person.

He wants to put me out of business.

Corbyn is from the 70s era and wants us to return there whilst leaving the bill at the door of the rich.

But the rich can afford a ticket out of here and the bill will be passed down to the middle and poor incomes to pay.

I left school and started a job in the 70s

My very basic rate tax was 33.3%

Reducing someone’s income by 13% would bankrupt a lot of people

VeryGenuinequestions · 15/11/2019 20:49

Corybn won't help anyone. He will cripple this country.

VeryGenuinequestions · 15/11/2019 20:51

Enthusiasm,

Jewish people clearly don't fall into ordinary people category. Corybn and his fellow comrades have a specific list of people they believe need their help.

FelicityFartypants · 15/11/2019 21:04

Wilberforce1

"Tory is best for us and our family, everyone ha to look out for themselves."

How exactly? Are you saying that you aren't prepared to contribute to a safety net/welfare state for those who due to illness or disability cannot look out for themselves? Like I said. It might very well include you and yours. And quite frankly, based on your attitude, I want to say I hope it does. But I won't because I don't wish anybody ill. But you might learn something.

Are you really that ignorant? And judgemental? I hope life never bites you on the arse.

BackInTime · 15/11/2019 21:13

@Alsohuman PIL believe that BBC is full of lefties who are always painting the Tories in a bad light. If I point out how things have deteriorated since their austerity measures they will quote the Daily Fail - immigrants, benefit scroungers, EU laws etc. Jeremy Corbyn is a crazy evil communist who's going to make them pay more tax (they can well afford it) but Boris cheats, bluffs, lies repeatedly, has closer links to Russian than most 'commie lefties', Trump, Steve Bannon but it's ok because he's posh and he's a Tory. He even lied to the Queen FFS!

XingMing · 15/11/2019 21:14

DMIL is too far gone in her dementia to care. FWIW, I do much more than her son (my DH) who can't bear to deal with it. But DSIL bears the brunt of it, and I feel shitty about that.

BustedDreams · 15/11/2019 21:15

I totally agree with @crispysausagerolls! We are a democracy. Or rather we were! Bloody Brexit is proving otherwise.

Bluntness100 · 15/11/2019 21:19

I will be voting Tory. Happy to stand up and say it.

However I don't understand why anyone who cared about the country would vote labour.

See we can all come up with ways to insult people who vote for any party. It's not exactly big or clever.

KTheGrey · 15/11/2019 21:20

@HelloCheeky
Nearly a direct quote from "An Inspector Calls", as well. Grin
