Hey lovelies,

So I'm a lurker, first time posting as I feel like I'm in a bit of a mental pickle.

Basically, I met this wonderful guy, there's a long distance issue but we text daily and FaceTime when life doesn't get in the way. I was meant to be in Manchester for work but the conference was cancelled and we decided I should still come through and he'd drive up and we would meet for the first time. It's almost halfway for both of us.

Now, I'm panicking. It's next Friday, the 22nd. I have recently lost 50lbs and still see myself as the size 22 unlovable woman. I mean I'm a size 16, still have a mum tum and although I do generally feel better about my self image- this has my head spinning as I really like him.

We enjoy the same things and get on well. I've sent photos of myself, but they are all those kinda I'm posed and good angles and brilliant light type... I'm worried what he will think of me when he sees me properly.

There's an age gap and I understand that I'm just being incredibly insecure - just need opinions- should I go? Should I cancel? How can I fake the confidence of one of those effortless women?! 😂

Just read the whole thread - has made my day already! Smile

Citygirl2019 · 23/11/2019 08:01

What a lovely outcome. So pleased you had a good night. I look forward to reading your update after coffee.

groovergirl · 23/11/2019 08:24

I've just read the whole thread too, and am beaming ear to ear!

You've clearly bowled him over, you luscious wench. And how sweet of you to update your MN cheer squad during the date, and as you rush off to breakfast Brew

misunderstoodjustice · 23/11/2019 09:04

@groovergirl I've never been described as a luscious wrench before however, I love it!! 😂 its all good, we've had enough coffee to put our hangovers on the back burner for a while.

Apparently he has a surprise now so, this may technically be the longest first date (despite sleep) I've heard of 😂

ChasingRainbows19 · 23/11/2019 11:43

What a lovely thread this has become. Hope it continues for you.

Serenity45 · 23/11/2019 11:50

Lovely lovely thread OP thanks for updating me and DH definitely kissed on the first date

I found out down the line that my now DH had texted his mate that I had 'good thighage' on our first date. After I'd spent ages sweating and fretting over different outfits. Sounds like you've met a good one Smile

HerrenaHarridan · 23/11/2019 12:20

Hurrah!!

Very happy for you op!

Keep rocking it! All of you!

Stop underselling your fabulous self and start channelling some of the unwarranted confidence that thoroughly disappointing men demonstrate when sending dick pics!

Myshitisreal · 23/11/2019 12:29

Breakfast 🤯 amazing 😁 dying to know what the surprise was. So glad this went so nicely

mamasma · 23/11/2019 12:31

Just read this whole thread-Love it!!

You looked stunning OP glad it went so well, sitting eagerly waiting for an update xx

misunderstoodjustice · 23/11/2019 12:33

Right so we are both on our way home now, so I can give a run down, so basically he came by, we had (one too many) drinks, he wouldn't let me pay for anything which actually annoyed me- and the night ended early hours with a kiss.

He'd asked me for breakfast and as he knows my love of coffee was waiting in the hotel lobby with 2 huge coffees. When we first started talking I'd mentioned how I wanted to go walk around this old theatre, the back offices and such (i did my degree in drama) - well when I had gone off to the loo last night he had made arrangements with one of his friends that work there to let us in.

I went full geeky, awkward and we kissed. Right at the end, he gave me a mix CD- he's a music geek and yeah...

It was nice but yeah- he read my nervousness as soon as I walked in the bar- he wasn't in the slightest - I'm not sure how to read him, so you never know- there may be a second date or we could have peaked this morning 😂 I mean I did go full geek 🤓

HerrenaHarridan · 23/11/2019 12:41

Awwwwww

Beautiful! It’s ok to be nervous. He should be giving you butterflies!

I am so happy you had a lovely time. You deserve it!

Myshitisreal · 23/11/2019 12:51

😍 That is so sweet ♥ love it! Geek out all you like, if he's for you, he won't go by you 😁😁😁

ShagMeRiggins · 23/11/2019 12:54

Grin great thread

BlueJava · 23/11/2019 12:58

So pleased you went @misunderstoodjustice I came back to check this morning! :)

grosseconnasse · 23/11/2019 13:33

Oh wow OP, that all sounds amazing!

Having a passion for something, or as you call it going full geek, is incredibly attractive. I've dated men into some really geeky stuff but their knowledge and passion for their specialist subject is very sexy, so don't worry about geeking out! I bet it made him like you even more! And he clearly likes you a lot anyway, to arrange a private backstage tour for you Grin

AnneKipanki · 23/11/2019 14:11

Hey ! Geek out ... that is who you are .

AnneKipanki · 23/11/2019 14:12

Fantastic surprise!

DaisyDreaming · 23/11/2019 14:27

If you were still a size 22 we would all say go, if you were a 44 we would say go too! I bet he has insecurities about his body too but he clearly likes you for being you. Will you reject him if you find he has some man boobs going on? If he likes you he won’t care that you have a mum tum!

ChasingRainbows19 · 23/11/2019 21:10

@DaisyDreaming read the thread the dates already been and gone.
