To wish I could be a SAHM

There is no way that this will ever happen. Even going part time is not an option.

But ah to not have to be charging around at 5:30 in the morning. To get home in the daylight. To see my child’s teacher. To not have to be cramming everything into the weekends. To attend baby and toddler groups with youngest and have ‘mum friends.’

Won’t happen.

Nice to think about though.

Being a SAHP is overrated. Yes, it can be lovely and it is a privilege to be able to be at home, but it is hard in other ways. I find it incredibly lonely, am fed up of only having a 3 year old for company and wish I could go back to work, but nursery costs, logistics and a career break means it is very difficult to find a job, let alone one that allows any sort of balance. Being a mum is a tough gig either way 🤷🏼‍♀️

I've just gone back to work 4 days and I am finding one thing stellar - we happened to do through blind luck an excellent childminder on our road. It makes drop off and pick up so easy, as we can literally see each other's houses. Really worth considering proximity to where you live as a huge bonus, jt really makes a difference.

That, and batch cooking meals so I just defrost dinner the night before and put it in the oven / pot on the days I work. Then just down time in the evenings.
