OH and I were going to dtd this afternoon so I quietly said we'd better do it now, he looked puzzled so DD1 who must have overheard said 'because my friend's coming over soon'. She knows what goes on when we go to our bedroom and never comments but I'd have been mortified at that age if my parents disappeared to their bedroom for you-know-what! How do others go about it?

When they’re awake and up/about in the day, I wouldn’t do it. I would never say anything in their earshot either, but my kids are only 10 and 12 so knowing we were having sex would be totally inappropriate.

I'm not sure why it was necessary to discuss it but it's a valid question and has been hampering our sex life for a while now.

I don't think many parents trot off for a day time quickie when their kids are in the house unless the kids are napping toddlers and it's the only opportunity they get. If your DD is old enough to understand what you're doing, why can't you do it at night?

There was a thread on here a while ago where many, many posters talked about how disturbed and creeped out they were by their parents' deliberate indiscretion about sex when they were kids and how it has affected them quite badly in some cases.

There is no way I could have sex knowing my DD was awake downstairs fully aware of what I was up to it would put me right off and turns my stomach a bit thinking about it.
I think it's one thing having your kids accidentally hear you at night because that can't always be avoided and is unintentional but to sneak off in the day making it obviously to the kids you're shagging upstairs (bleurgh).

I wouldn't dream of doing it if I know they were awake. In fact we almost never do it when the older one is in the house. The younger one sleeps more soundly and her bedroom is further from ours, but even then, I am inhibited. I enjoy it much more when they're both out.

I remember hearing my parents growing up and they would sometimes go for a lie down yuk .
I know we all do it but you know discreetly.
I've a grown up dd and will wait till she's not in or will have a early night if she's downstairs . I honestly wouldn't want anyone to hear .

We have teenage dses and maned to have sex without them knowing. Either in the morning whilst they are asleep or when they are out.

We would not obviously go and have sex with our dses knowing that's not appropriate at all.
