Yesterday I took delivery of a new handheld cordless mini vacuum and I couldn’t wait for it to charge up so I could go and Hoover my skirting boards without having to drag the massive big Dyson around the house! I was so excited I was going round the house last night looking for things to Hoover up! My husband called me sad but I was so happy!

I also love buying anything new for the kitchen. I bough a multi bladed herb cutter the other day and oh it gave me such pleasure to use it on some parsley for dinner!

When I was at uni I used to love buying matching stationary which some people might think is a bit sad.

I am a married 33-year-old mother of one and this is my life now Grin

What are your nerdy/sad/uncool things in life that bring you excitement/joy?

Getting a poo in cloth nappies where it's just flops right into the toilet off the liner 🙈

momtoboys · 08/11/2019 19:22

Election day. I get ridiculously excited for Election Day. A friend was teasing me about it the other day and said it was like the Super Bowl for nerds!

showmethegin · 08/11/2019 19:23

Me and DP nearly had a physical wrestle trying to be the first one to use our first Dyson, was the first time we realised we were grown ups and joyously boring; wonderful!

Teachtrinity · 08/11/2019 19:29

I’ve just bought a carpet shampooing machine and I literally ran home from work tonight so I could try it out! So excited 😆 I also love reading and collecting maps, especially old ones oh and old photos and pictures of my city. I also love bridges 🤪

MrOnionsBumperRoller · 08/11/2019 19:30

Heaps of things but the absolute most tragic by far is my stone train obsession; the trains which travel from the local quarries to London and back. Oh and seaside architecture, specialist subject piers and cliff lifts though also partial to a lighthouse, promenade, beach huts etc Grin

MrOnionsBumperRoller · 08/11/2019 19:32

Teachtrinity with a piddly dog my carpet cleaner is more like a family member. Massive love for him.

BigTrombone · 08/11/2019 19:35

Planning my holiday in Istanbul; I go by train.

FelicisNox · 08/11/2019 19:35

I love:

Buying kitchen gadgets
Finding a new fragrance in Zoflora
Getting 50% off with my Tastecard

And I nearly expired with joy when my Shark hoover arrived. Best. Hoover. Ever!

Nearly47 · 08/11/2019 19:38

Massive parabolic antennas ! Those that capture signal from space and satellites. I find them beautiful.

Nearly47 · 08/11/2019 19:39

Forgot books. Love books. Tried kindle but not the same.

Crochetymum · 08/11/2019 19:43

I love stationary, wool, fabric, sewing stuff, making loads of tat (someone in my house says 😠😂) like bunting, wall hangings, cross stitch etc. I've got so many crochet blankets, about 3 per bed, but you know it's getting cold again. Ooh hair bobbles, clips and scrunchies for my daughter too. I've got a right collection of them, I mean she has...
Also when I've been shopping, putting it all away on my own, taking everything out of the packets -the chocolate bars, dog food etc, so that I can bin/recycle as soon as possible, stack it all nicely in the cupboards.
We're all different and it great to see what please others 😬😬.

spookysamhainwitch · 08/11/2019 19:43

I get excited about ringforts. I spend my evenings googling where they are and imagining how people lived.

I told my teenage daughter today and she called me a super nerd.

Easy see why I'm single 😂

NigesFakeWalkingStick · 08/11/2019 19:46

Crochet
Bullet Journalling
Colouring Books
History of things like royal families, presidents, last 24 hours of celebrity life, unsolved murders, mysteries etc

Worst of all, as a teen, I used to write fanfic Grin

Middersweekly · 08/11/2019 19:47

I recently bought a 2in1 vacuum cleaner that mops or wet cleans the floors at the same time as hoovering. Essentially meaning you only have to do it once! Ive also got a hand held cordless Hoover that I do the stairs with. I love both!
I also just bought one of those steam handheld ironers so basically we don’t have to even get the ironing board out again!
I admit that makes me a very very sad individual and I should really just stop buying cleaning things! 🤣

NigesFakeWalkingStick · 08/11/2019 19:48

Oh fuck I forgot - air crash investigation. I've watched every single episode at least once. I not the crash, it's why and how it happened. I probably know more about a crash likelihood than pilots. And instinctively now know when something is going wrong when flying Hmm

Catsinthecupboard · 08/11/2019 19:49

DH comes home every night and heads straight to the burner to see how much fuel was used each day. Dd gave him a little cloth book with attached pen. (We supplement our heat with burning wood from trees that have fallen on our property.)

Idk if it's nerdy or new age, but I've become an essential oil advocate. I have several good books and if someone has a minor problem, i create a "potion."

It saved much money bc every fall our dog has severe skin allergies and gets hotspots. No vet visits so far and I use it on my psoriasis too! Also have made bug repellent that's safe and works better than anything I've ever used.

Books. Books. Books. Yarn. Yarn. Yarn

Latin.
Not the music, or the dancing.

Jellybeansincognito · 08/11/2019 19:54

@NigesFakeWalkingStick I feel the same about air crash investigation.

I really want to go to japan but I’m not sure I can stomach the flight anymore 😅

vincentsleftear · 08/11/2019 19:56

Stationery, fountain pens and inks, bookmarks.
Also crocheting, wool shops and learning Welsh (just started).

NoHummus · 08/11/2019 20:00

@BigTrombone Would you mind sharing the route you take? I have always wanted to go to Istanbul by train!

MummyMayo1988 · 08/11/2019 20:07

ClapHandsAndSaveTheFairies · 08/11/2019 20:07

As a teen I moved on to foreign ones (whatever-to-English etc).

Purpletigers · 08/11/2019 20:18
