Yesterday I took delivery of a new handheld cordless mini vacuum and I couldn’t wait for it to charge up so I could go and Hoover my skirting boards without having to drag the massive big Dyson around the house! I was so excited I was going round the house last night looking for things to Hoover up! My husband called me sad but I was so happy!

I also love buying anything new for the kitchen. I bough a multi bladed herb cutter the other day and oh it gave me such pleasure to use it on some parsley for dinner!

When I was at uni I used to love buying matching stationary which some people might think is a bit sad.

I am a married 33-year-old mother of one and this is my life now Grin

What are your nerdy/sad/uncool things in life that bring you excitement/joy?

I love anything to do with Egyptian, Greek, Roman and Norse mythology. I spend hours reading about it

amigababy · 08/11/2019 09:09

Duolingo.
I'm on a 400+ days streak and have 5 languages on the go!

FizzyIce · 08/11/2019 11:06

Ah yes me too @Livpool, love anything Egyptian after a few visits as a child.
Off to the Tutankhamun exhibition tonight

Bad weather!

Thunder and lightening, lashing rain, howling wind, snow and ice... especially thunder and lightning!

I can explain why, it just gives me a buzz and makes me feel alive :)

BercowsPoliticalPumpkin · 08/11/2019 11:55

@BlackInk me too! I love wild weather. It's like a primal thing that reverberates in my soul.

CravingCheese · 08/11/2019 12:02

I do love strong winds and lightning as well...
And summer rain.

And food storage containers / lunch boxes etc...

When you get a new car with the manual. I love reading it and working things out from the pictures and descriptions. My first ever was the Haynes manual for the old fiesta.
I love shopping for new cleaning products too and feel happy at the start of the month with all the shiny bottles on the shelf Grin

Fandoozle1 · 08/11/2019 12:54

I’m so glad someone else has said Kings and Queens.I call myself a history buff, and love easing about royal families but my husband has stated that I’m a tragic nerd (thanks dear!)

FenellaVelour · 08/11/2019 12:59

@anjii are you Amy Santiago from Brooklyn 99? 😁

CatsOnCatnip · 08/11/2019 13:05

Stain removers and watching various home shopping commercials about them.

Collecting marbles.

bellinisurge · 08/11/2019 13:07

I collected a load of leaves off our drive today. It was awesome. Mulch, compost, so many uses for dead leaves. I was giddy with excitement. HmmWinkConfused

KaliforniaDreamz · 08/11/2019 13:09

Marvel and DC films.
Never realised i enjoyed this stuff when a kid.
Maybe that's not that nerdy but i would've considered it so when younger.

ilovehalloween · 08/11/2019 13:09

@EoinMcLovesCakeJumper are you me???

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 08/11/2019 13:21

@ilovehalloween I don't think so, but my whole life could just be one long dream you're having. If that is the case, I apologise sincerely for how boring I usually am. I do love Halloween though!

Legomadx2 · 08/11/2019 13:25

Etymology

House prices in our area - I get a Zoopla email every day and love seeing what sells for what

pobparker · 08/11/2019 13:46

My geeky obsession is Train stations - love them- & all the activity ,people watching and looking at trains
It started when I went inter-railing many years ago armed with a Thomas Cook international timetable (pre -internet)
Airports just don't have the same attraction
I watch all the Michael Portillo , Chris Tarrant & Indian railways programmes
DH works for the Railway - so luckily I get free rail journeys

StroppyWoman · 08/11/2019 14:06

@PrivateSpidey - I have a Paddington one! It's Paddington with St Paul's in the background. I had two and I gave the second one to a homeless guy this morning when we were talking about liking them, otherwise I'd offer to post it to you.

SleepyKat · 08/11/2019 14:08

Paternoster lifts.

tillytrotter1 · 08/11/2019 15:16

I love seeing how much water comes out the air and try and guess the humidity before I switch it on.

Fluff off the little tumble drier door! I always laughed in Dinner Ladies where one of them was regretting not having saved the fluff from the tumble drier.
I have to have newspapers folded neatly, edge to edge, before I can read them, OH lets them get very disorderly.

BillywigSting · 08/11/2019 15:29

Norse and Greek mythology, in fact mythology in general. People all over the world in every time and place tell the same stories, only the names really change.

Ancient British and European history (fascinating how interconnected the world was even thousands of years ago)

Etymology

Space. I follow NASA and ESA on social media and regularly watch rocket launches and get excited by new stuff sent back by various probes etc

BillywigSting · 08/11/2019 15:33

@squeekums if you like wwe have you seen any of aew?

It's really good, Cody Rhodes has absolutely poured his heart and soul into it

IDontWantToCookTonight · 08/11/2019 15:35

Airplanes and dinosaurs.

I’m 23, female and of the typical ‘unit my makeup and hair and getting tanned and glammed’ type. So I rarely tell anyone how much I love and am obsessed with airplanes and dinosaurs.

Bohemienne · 08/11/2019 15:39

I have loads.

  1. Opera
  2. The Victorians, with occasional forays into 18th century France and medieval Italy
  3. Google Street View - I have nosed all over the world on here and am nowhere near seeing everything I want to yet
  4. Duolingo - 3 languages on the go, I do a bit of each every day
squeekums · 08/11/2019 15:41

@BillywigSting Ive been meaning to watch, i hear great things about it and especially Cody.
Vince screwed up letting him go
