Inspired by the excellent thread on songs.

Mine is Titanic. Billy Zane is marrying Rose knowing he is used as a money mule to help the family - she then cheats on him, flaunts it, and he is somehow the bad guy. WTAF. If roles were reversed it was be horrendous. Just because Leo was hot doesn’t make it ok 😁

Gosh yes @NotTonightJosepheen people RAVE about it and the boyfriend is a misogynistic arsehole and her friends are bitter and jealous and their behaviour is completely normalised and she should naturally give up her goals to appease them

Puffinhead · 06/11/2019 21:54

The Holiday- with Jude Law, Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz. What a load of tosh. Thankfully I didn’t pay to see it (it was just on tv).

f00k · 06/11/2019 21:57

Magnolia. Oscar-nominated steaming pile of shit with raining frogs at the end.

Silver Linings Playbook. Yawn.

DobbyLovesSocks · 06/11/2019 21:58

The Good Shepherd - 3 hrs of my life I'll never get back

Remember me - really good until last 10 minutes and then ruined

Cant remember name of it but one with Keanu Reeves and about numbers. Turned out in the end it was about aliens. Bloody ridiculous

f00k · 06/11/2019 22:00

Completely agree @Puffinhead. Watched it a few years ago after it was constantly recommended here on the best Christmas movies threads. What a load of shit.

goose1964 · 06/11/2019 22:01

Life of Pi just a load of bollocks

@DobbyLovesSocks I’d forgotten about The Good Shepherd! I remember seeing it at the cinema and turning to my friend after what felt like 4 hours, but was only half way through, and almost crying is it going to finish soon?

MolyHolyGuacamole · 06/11/2019 22:06

@DobbyLovesSocks do you mean The Matrix 😂 biro agree it's awful

MolyHolyGuacamole · 06/11/2019 22:07

@The80sweregreat 'the woman in Pretty Woman' lol Julia Roberts? I didn't even waste my time on watching it, the premise alone was dreadful.

But Fly Away Home is one of my favourite movies, I still cry when I watch it

hammeringinmyhead · 06/11/2019 22:07

The Revenant. I have never been so bored.

I was incredibly disappointed in both Hereditary and Midsommar. Too long, too quirky, and not even really horror despite the marketing.

The worst film I have ever seen though is Sucker Punch, a Zack Snyder fantasy about a girl in an institution who imagines it's a brothel and she is a superhero to escape reality.

Areyoufree · 06/11/2019 22:08

@NotTonightJosepheen. I was going to say The Devil Wears Prada as well. Woman expected to apologise for prioritising her career.

Also Eagle Eye. If I had to watch Shia Leboef make his puppy dog eyes at the camera one more time, I swear I would have travelled to Hollywood, knocked on his door, and slapped him across his stupid face.

Lovetunnocks · 06/11/2019 22:10

There's no happy ending with a sex worker and the man who's paying to rent her vagina for the week.

This. Exactly. Pretty Woman. It boggles me. Only the other day a FB friend posted that she was having a pamper-spoily movie night with her 13 year old DD and the centre piece of which was going to be introducing her daughter to Pretty FUCKING Woman.

Why? WHY?????

I did read somewhere that the original script was much, much darker. I wish they'd made that version instead.

MyIncapableOne · 06/11/2019 22:11

@ Corneliawildthing 😂 Did I miss anything??

It was after that film I stopped paying attention to Rotten Tomatoes tomatometre. It got something like 98%...!!

DobbyLovesSocks · 06/11/2019 22:15

@MolyHolyGuacamole no. This was a different film. I seem to recall his son getting something out of a time capsule

Potnoodledoo · 06/11/2019 22:15

Bridesmaids and MBFGW are awful. Not funny and shite.

VanyaHargreeves · 06/11/2019 22:15

Originally Pretty Woman was supposed to end in a really dark way with Vivienne on a bus to Disneyland with her prostitute friend with what was left of the money

Test audiences didn't like it so they changed it

PhilSwagielka · 06/11/2019 22:16

I hated Love Actually, apart from the Bill Nighy plot, the bit with the porn stars, and the one with Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson, which was genuinely sad. Laura Linney's character irritated the fuck out of me.

Corneliawildthing · 06/11/2019 22:20

MyIncapableOne No you didn't miss anything. I had totally switched off so I don't even know what the rest of the film was about. I was probably wondering what to have from the breakfast buffet in the morning or what I was going to buy at the shops!!

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 06/11/2019 22:29

For me it would have to be Superbad. I spent the whole film waiting for something to happen, but it just seemed to be a script full of bad language that didn't go anywhere. Maybe I missed something, because it got rave reviews.

And I ALWAYS fall asleep watching the films based on Tolkein. I've never seen one all the way through. God they're boring.

MintyMabel · 06/11/2019 22:33

@sweetsaltypopcorn That’s the one! I raged all the way through it!

Braveheart - terrible accent and they portrayed the battle of Stirling bridge without the bridge.

@RaptorInaPorkPieHat, that, and the fact they painted his face in a way that was 1000 years too late, wore kilts 300 years too early, and named the film after an entirely different Scottish Character.

My favourite quote was from Billy Connolly commenting on them having an Australian lead character - every other Scotsman who could talk and walk upright was in it but they didn’t think there was one left who could play the lead.

@mintymable not RTWT so don't know if it's been mentioned but I think you're talking about Lake Placid.

Potnoodledoo · 06/11/2019 22:38

Horror films.I love them, but they just change them will nilly.Just so they can have a sequel

Event Horizon is revered on here and its crap. And not at all frightening.

TheSandman · 06/11/2019 22:38

The Harry Potter Films. Not just the terrible acting, being on the big screen really highlights how awful and two dimensional all the book characters are.

I am so with you on that one.

Grease I loath too but Grease 2 is even worse! And Grease does have Stockard Channing in it and she is, as Moose Malloy put it, "As cute as lace pants."

The One That Really Pissed Me Off more than any other film ever - and I go out of my way to watch what a lot of people consider 'bad' films - is Southland Tales. Which, despite having a phenomenally interesting cast including The Rock (also cute as lace pants), is an overcooked overlong incomprehensible unwatchable mess. I have seen it four times now. The theatrical release, and the never officially released - but bootlegged - 'Cannes Cut'. It is SHITE! High Quality expensive shite. But SHITE! And I liked Waterworld!
