Inspired by the excellent thread on songs.

Mine is Titanic. Billy Zane is marrying Rose knowing he is used as a money mule to help the family - she then cheats on him, flaunts it, and he is somehow the bad guy. WTAF. If roles were reversed it was be horrendous. Just because Leo was hot doesn’t make it ok 😁

Perfect storm was based on a real event and the characters were real fishermen.

I found Dark Shadows incredibly disappointing.

It started off well, with an amusing idea with the "what would an ancient vampire do if thrown into the 21st century" but it just completely lost all sense of a plot and became increasingly nonsensical and ridiculous. By the time it ended I was glad to see the back of it!

The Yearling. If you care even a little about animals do NOT watch this.

BIG - if the sexes were reversed it would be considered very perverse

permanentlyexhaustedpigeon · 15/11/2019 13:28

Picture Perfect - again if the sexes were reversed there would be outrage!
(career-minded girl is asked to bring a partner to a colleague's wedding, picks up wedding photographer and passes him off as her partner, treats him like shite off her shoe and has a lightbulb moment that he's 'a catch' by the end. Which of course, because he's just a dumb guy and she's a Clever But Vulnerable Career Gal, he accepts with alacrity).
Sexist, classist crap.

I did giggle my way through the end scene of Titanic though. "Er, Rose, you have a nice voice and all and I understand your need to be winsomely looking up at the sky but YOU'RE TAKING UP THE WHOLE BLOODY DOOR!"

@Vilanelle I totally agree about Big. I remember enjoying it as a kid but rewatched it a couple of years ago and was completely creeped out. I couldn't believe that anyone had thought it was ok to have a mainstream family film where a grown woman has sex with a 12 year old boy.

VanyaHargreeves · 15/11/2019 23:58

I've just remember Blended

The cultural imperialism/casual racism for such a recent film is quite shocking

Last night I watched Always Be My Maybe which I'd heard great things about, but it was like a reverse Grease, everything the man liked about his life, he had to sacrifice to be with her, down to his clothes. Grim.

Nocturnal Animals. Just weird and horrible.

I like the Amy Adams Isla Fisher look a like casting but that's about it.

VanyaHargreeves · 16/11/2019 00:39

Oh I loved Nocturnal Animals

The bit at the end, when you see her fully realise the number her ex has pulled on her with the book.

I thought it was great, weird, an awful first 20 mins, but great
