BOYCOTT CADBURYS

Most of us buy too many products containing palm oil. It is difficult to work out what is palm oil free, so, for all of you feeling guilty about buying products made with palm oil I would suggest this simple action plan...
DO NOT BUY ANYTHING MADE BY CADBURYS.
There are so many other chocolate bars that you can buy so it really shouldn't be too painful.

And the fires to clear terrain for the further deforestation cause smog with all ensuing problems across the region.

So why are all the attempts to sell palm oil as a good thing? Because there is money to be made out of it.

EntropyRising · 04/11/2019 20:46

You seem to view everyone who doesn't support an unqualified palm oil boycott as some kind of corporate shill.

I care pretty deeply about deforestation - if you have some better information, please do share. The people of SE Asia are not going to simply evaporate, they have to make a living.

Babdoc · 04/11/2019 20:49

I haven’t read the whole thread, but was relieved, when I checked up, to find that Guylian chocolates are completely palm oil free.

PhilSwagielka · 04/11/2019 21:04

Which chocolate bars don't use it?

StrangeLookingParasite · 04/11/2019 21:37

You should try what the US thinks is chocolate! Cadburys is nectar of the gods by comparison!

US chocolate tastes like vomit. (Butyric acid)

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 04/11/2019 21:47

The people of SE Asia are not going to simply evaporate, they have to make a living.

For now. Relying on a planet damaging monoculture is shortsighted and damaging. Also, the people of SE Asia make a pittance compared to what the corporations using them make.

WaterAndTrees · 04/11/2019 21:55

I haven’t eaten Cadbury’s for about 20 years. Awful tasting chocolate substitute. But that applies to most major chocolate brands.

rosesarered9 · 04/11/2019 22:23

Which chocolate bars don't use it?
Lindt

Deforestation has already occurred in the Western world, with huge mono culture fields of wheat, rapeseed, potatoes

I've seen notices in service station toilets, requesting to text to buy a box of seeds to save our bees

Why the hell, should we be dictating to other countries what to do, when we have already chopped our trees down !

TheMagpie · 05/11/2019 04:09

I take it you're vegan and avoid other brands that use Palm Oil as well?

0thers1de0fthew0rld · 05/11/2019 04:59

I've visited Asia, Borneo, the orangutans & other amazing places (some still on the to visit list)

I've seen the palm, rubber plantations, rice fields

I love animals & nature

Mankind has a huge impact on the planet !

What about all the living things that you can't see under the sea, that live in the oceans. It's not just cuddly orangutans that are threatened

Don't eat the chocolate ?

But people will still grow rice, chop the trees for firewood, building or exporting

Western versus developing countries

They sell chocolate in Asia too...

CAG12 · 05/11/2019 07:04

@whatpasswordtochoose im a massive environmentalist

Not buying products with palm oil in them is the wrong way to go about this. Borneo is the largest producer of palm oil. Their palm oil sales drop, they clear more rain forest to plant and farm other types of crop

You need to buy products with a sustainable palm oil source and logo. These palm oil farmers farm their one bit of land, and dont clear any natural habitat.

Please dont boycott all palm oil products. Itll just make the situation worse

SoupDragon · 05/11/2019 07:16

Why the hell, should we be dictating to other countries what to do, when we have already chopped our trees down !

Yeah, let the planet go to hell. Who gives a shit?

🙄

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 05/11/2019 07:20

Aldi caramel chocolate is amazing. Galaxy and Cadbury are disgusting now.

CAG12 · 05/11/2019 07:28

@whatpasswordtochoose also dont leave MN forever, theres some good stuff on here.

You just need to explain yourself better. You cant shout 'BOYCOTT CADBURYS' and expect everyone to fall in line. People want to make educated decisions.

user1471504234 · 05/11/2019 07:29

I did boycott Cadbury’s for this very reason... until they brought out DarkMilk. Now I boycott it all except DarkMilk Blush

NewName73 · 05/11/2019 08:10

Can someone post a link to RSPO products please.

cannycat20 · 05/11/2019 11:40

There are some products listed at rspo.org/members/trademark/trademark-products-gallery but there may well be more which don't actually use the trademark.

It's all got so complex lately that I seriously am thinking about resorting to a diet of oatmeal and water. (And even then, most of the oatmeal will probably have to come from Ireland or Scotland....)

SerenDippitty · 05/11/2019 11:45

We only buy 85% cocoa dark chocolate. It’s very good for you, and an anti inflammatory which is good for my arthritis. There’s no palm oil in it at least not the co op one we usually buy.

FizzyIce · 05/11/2019 12:01

Cadbury’s is awful now anyway

PulpPixie · 05/11/2019 12:08

I love the taste of palm oil

WaterAndTrees · 05/11/2019 18:52

Try:
Montezumas
Cocoloco
Booja booja

All amazing, organic and palm oil free.

0thers1de0fthew0rld · 06/11/2019 01:55

Dictating to other countries...

Western countries grow huge fields of mono crops
Do why aren't developed countries allowed to ?

It's not 'our land'

Why not look at your local environment first at how to improve it ?
Rather than trying to dictate to other countries
Try reading about the history of Borneo, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam etc ?

gebruikersnaam · 06/11/2019 02:10

Have boycotted Cadbury ages ago because it tastes like trash — buy something like Divine or Booja Booja instead. Your palate will thank you for it!
