Just that really and, inspired by another thread, why do so many people dislike him?

OP posts:
Dongdingdong · 01/11/2019 22:36

In some ways yes, but only because he desperately wants to stay in power and to do that he needs to ensure he remains popular with voters.

So I don’t think he’d sell off the NHS for example, because it would clearly be a massive own goal, terrible for Britain and people would (quite rightly) go ballistic.

I also don’t think he actively wants no deal for the same reason.

Boris wants to be popular - people who have some insight into his character often say he’s a politician who wants to be liked, unlike Margaret Thatcher for example who was a real conviction politician.

ddl1 · 01/11/2019 22:40

No, he is totally untrustworthy, and such a liar that I'm surprised that his nose isn't a mile long by now!

Downton57 · 01/11/2019 22:42

NHS staff clearly feel that the NHS is safe in his hands, going by his reception at Addenbrookes.

Bibybob · 01/11/2019 22:46

So why is there all the Boris worship ? I don’t get it .

dinosaurcookie · 01/11/2019 22:50

No. He's only interested in keeping his rich chums richer. As an NHS employee I think he and the party he represents are the biggest single threat we face. Free health care should be available to all.

CendrillonSings · 01/11/2019 22:51

Maybe start (yet) another thread about how shit Corbyn is cendrillon

Maybe check the far-left loon Labour have put up against Boris as their candidate for Prime Minister! Grin

holycrumpets · 01/11/2019 22:54

Nope. No way. Ex Tory voter here.

Bibybob · 01/11/2019 22:54

rainingallday What are your worries about Corbyn . ? I find the truth hard to find !
My guess is that he is a principled man but somehow it seems that his promises can’t be met ( at least not in the short term
/ this cultural climate ) in this economy .. am concerned that labour broke the economy before but I do wish that some of his aims and his principles came could actually be achieved .

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 01/11/2019 22:55

oh I can’t be arsed to do that cendrillon Grin

applecatchers36 · 01/11/2019 22:56

He believes his own hype. Incredibly entitled archaic white male with racist misogynistic narcissistic character ( who does this sound like?)
No integrity would bend position for his own popularity (Brexit), unfaithful, persistent philandering menace to women ( see recent police involvement regarding domestic incident and? Number of children acknowledged / known? Also American pole dancer/ American Entrepreneur on government payroll.Oh and let's not dwell on the scapegoating of LFB walking into a burning building to save lives, whilst ignoring his outrageous cuts to London Fire service & Tory council flammable cheap building cladding (nothing to see here!)
So guess the answer OP!

Paintedmaypole · 01/11/2019 23:02

Grin @applecatchers. Strange that his exit from Addenbrokes hospital was not on any TV channel and only seen on social media. I wonder whether it would have been on the news if it had happened to any other party leader....just wondering.

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 01/11/2019 23:10

Corbyn is inflexible, doesn't listen to those who don't agree with him and is an ineffectual leader

Nothing in this statement is trie. He’s gone with his majority of the party on issues that he personally didn’t agree with. He has also beaten two votes to oust him and increased Labour Party support more than any other politician ever.

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 01/11/2019 23:11

True

safariboot · 01/11/2019 23:14

Hell no.

I did think he might make a half-decent Prime Minister if he didn't fuck up Brexit. His unlawful prorogation of Parliament pretty quickly proved he's a terrible PM.

VaperCut · 01/11/2019 23:16

Nope. He's a narcissistic twunt who has zero respect for women, minorities and people in general who are not in the top % rich category.

Corbyn has his faults no doubt about it but for a person to be fully aware of BJ's colouful past (and present) and to still say he's as bad as Corbyn is just fucking ridiculous. The man has no moral compass.

FiddlesticksAkimbo · 01/11/2019 23:29

Voted YANBU because the question was whether you are being unreasonable to ask. But then you changed the question!

DoubleTweenQueen · 01/11/2019 23:36

I don’t trust him. I have no reason to trust him.
He got an 11th hour deal. The Tory Brexiters lauding it as a miracle as the backstop was removed when all were saying it couldn’t be done. I though it was because he agreed to a ‘solution’ Theresa May had said during her negotiations was unacceptable? Now it’s a genius solution? I don’t buy it.
Plus, interesting his ‘new deal’ is TM’s deal (that he baulked at originally) with a few notable changes. Why has mention of environmental and workers protections been removed? Specifically?
Then, MPs vote for a second reading, but not to his timeframe - they would like to have time to read it and scrutinise it. Maybe make amendments. So then he pulls it, and cals the opposition names until they cave and agree to a GE.
He has treated the House with arrogance, contempt and hostility. How is that finding a workable consensus? Bringing people together? Where is the transparency and leadership?
He has a questionable employment track record & personal history. Is awkward with people. Cannot or will not sensibly and knowledgeably answer a straight question. If he comes out of this GE with an increased majority, that will be the final nail for me. I don’t recognise this place anymore. The Government front bench are a joke. The last 3.5 years have been a disaster, and it will continue for a lifetime.

DoubleTweenQueen · 01/11/2019 23:38

I need a drink.......:D

DoubleTweenQueen · 01/11/2019 23:40

And the staff at Addenbrookes are fantastic and do an amazing job, all things considered.

caringcarer · 01/11/2019 23:40

I quite like him, and trust him as much as any politician can be trusted. I don't trust MP's like Grieve who stand on manifest to to leave then do everything they can to stop us leaving.

NachoFries · 02/11/2019 05:21

Boris Johnson has been known to be an abusive liar and philanderer in his personal life but for some reason some people find his public image of a blustering buffoon quite charismatic.

He lied about not wanting to be PM when he was the mayor of London, he lied about Brexit, he even wrote two letters - one for Remain and the other for Brexit and he clearly chose the latter as he’s an astute politician when it suits him - not to mention the fact that he has so far spent £100 million on the Brexit campaign and his financial backers are also under investigation as following cross-party claims that unnamed individuals stand to benefit from the prime minister’s willingness to pursue a no-deal Brexit.

For all Corbyn’s fault’s, he is nothing like Boris Johnson. And if Labour rallied around their party leader instead of the constant backstabbing and self-imploding when they could have gone after the Conservative party after Brexit means that Labour isn’t stable. He has won how many leadership elections? I just think he’s poorly advised and relies on his principles and an honest man but honest people don’t often make good politicians.

Almost a year after the Tories won the election, they introduced the Fixed-Term Parliaments Act so we are essentially stuck with a party for 5 years unless there is a vote of no confidence etc. So much as I want the Tories to fix their mess, I don’t want them in power for any longer.

I’d be happy with a Lib Dem/Labour/Green coalition.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 02/11/2019 05:37

It's interesting that almost everyone here is saying that they woulmtrust Johnson and yet the polls are putting the Tories way ahead of Labour. I know MN tends to be left wing but there are Tory voters on here and they are not coming forward to defend BJ.

So I suspect there are a lot of peopl who don't trust him but will vote Tory anyway Confused

Jocasta2018 · 02/11/2019 06:25

No. Next question!

Kyvia · 02/11/2019 06:38

So I suspect there are a lot of peopl who don't trust him but will vote Tory anyway

Yup. Because this is what politics has become. No good options.

Fatshedra · 02/11/2019 06:52

I don't know why people think he would have got the latest deal through. Not without huge changes to satisfy the many factions - the good ol' lefty BBC banging on about BJ lied / broke a promise/ whatever critical thing else they can think of - when to me it just seems that Labour were going to arse about / SNP wanted an election as they think if they get enough seats in they can get and win another inde referendum / the ERG lot weren't happy / and Nigel's brexit party weren't either but somehow it is all BoJo's fault.

I am in a parallel universe. Bo Jo did the best he could imv.
