To ask why everyone hates Corbyn?

timeaftertime79 · 31/10/2019 21:38

I’d genuinely like to see some facts and reasons as to why Corbyn is so awful that people would choose voting Tory (and people dying) over him.

Genuine reasons that are factual ... I’m wondering what information I seem to be missing that everyone else is seeing?

I hate Corbyn because he thinks that I can’t understand English irony, despite having lived here all my life.

In Corbyn’s view, Jews can never be truly English. He sees us as an other.

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 31/10/2019 22:10

Because he will throw whoever he needs to under the bus in order to stick to his 'principles'.

BertrandRussell · 31/10/2019 22:11

I hate Corbyn because he thinks that I can’t understand English irony, despite having lived here all my life.“
Sorry??

VanyaHargreeves · 31/10/2019 22:14

Oh I'd never vote Tory OP. But I can both be all "Fuck The Tories" and yet at the same time not have to love/be objective about Corbyn

CleverLoginName · 31/10/2019 22:14

Anti Jewish
Terrorist sympathiser
Anti capitalist
Anti small businesses
Ditherer
Stubborn
Bigoted
And more

The longer he stays leader the better so labour won't get back in and spend all our money from the magic money tree

timeaftertime79 · 31/10/2019 22:16

That’s not what I’ve seen Vanya - I’m in no way saying everyone will but I have seen SO many people say they’re voting Tory purely because they don’t like Corbyn and that’s what I don’t get.

OP posts:
BertrandRussell · 31/10/2019 22:16

“ The longer he stays leader the better so labour won't get back in and spend all our money from the magic money tree”
The irony of this following recent statements by the Prime Minister is breathtaking!!

AnnieTotach · 31/10/2019 22:16

Because of things like this:

Whatdayisit2 · 31/10/2019 22:16

Because he'll increase taxes massively and therefore doesn't offer a very good alternative to Boris nobhead

Ziraphale · 31/10/2019 22:17

I won't vote Tory, ever, unless by some miracle we end up thwarting Brexit and eventually get a moderate pro European Conservative party lead by some like Rory Stewart.

I was actually really impressed with Corbyn in the last election campaign and I voted Labour. But I'm a hardcore remainer, married to an EU citizen and for me, the issues now with Corbyn and Labour as a whole are that they failed to consolidate their position on Brexit and have been trying to court the best of both worlds. They've been playing both sides of the fence and I think they've lost votes from both sides in failing to take a clear stance.

Their recent half hearted backing for a second referendum has come too little, too late. Corbyn is a blatant Euroskeptic and they just want to sit on the fence all day and it's not going to fly.

So I'll vote LibDem. I don't agree with them on everything but since we can't get a second referendum right now then I'll treat this as a proxy and at least LibDem have a clear policy on what is absolutely the defining issue of our time.

BertrandRussell · 31/10/2019 22:17

“ Because he'll increase taxes massively”

Why do you think this?

ViaSacra · 31/10/2019 22:18

@BertrandRussell

I’m fairly sure the pp is referring to the antisemitic tropes Corbyn used against two Jewish audience members at a talk he gave several years ago.

He said that they couldn’t understand English irony, despite having lived here probably all their lives.

He claims he wasn’t been antisemitic because he was referring to two Jews, rather than Jewish people as a whole; but using antisemitic tropes is always antisemitism no matter how many Jews you direct it at...

Accusing Jewish people of failing to assimilate into the country they live in and are citizens of is antisemitism of the highest order.

AnnieTotach · 31/10/2019 22:19

And this:

Mistlewoeandwhine · 31/10/2019 22:19

He’s great.

holidays987 · 31/10/2019 22:21

Labour will get in where I live, they always do! I have always voted labour previously, probably won't this time.

I don't want JC as PM. I feel he has divided the party, remained close with MPs I believe are detrimental to the success of the party (not been tough enough to oust deadwood, basically) not supported Remain, his views and policies are too far left including his idea of banning private education and his ideas on inheritance. I'd also be very worried that he would be too soft on immigration. I'd prefer a more central-left gov & a more united party. Currently labour look like a bunch of misfits flung together with very little common ground, stable plans / ideas, or any ability at all to assert authority.

AnnieTotach · 31/10/2019 22:22

And this

Mistlewoeandwhine · 31/10/2019 22:22

And as for terrorist sympathiser - he won an award for talking to nationalist terrorists in NI and helping to bring about peace and the GFA.
The Tories on the other hand are currently funding Saudi warfare which is killing innocent children and are erstwhile friends of thugs like Pinochet.

Mistlewoeandwhine · 31/10/2019 22:23

Their manifesto was costed out and would significantly improve ordinary people’s lives. Under the Tories, our lives will become worse. 120,000 people have already died due to austerity.

ViaSacra · 31/10/2019 22:25

@Mistlewoeandwhine

Corbyn accepted £10,000 to appear on Iranian state TV. You know, the TV channel of that regime that hangs gay people, imprisons women who don’t cover their hair whenever they go outside, holds British nationals hostage, supported Assad in the Syrian civil war, allowing him to slaughter hundreds of thousands of his own people...

DrDreReturns · 31/10/2019 22:26

I was going to say what @ViaSacra said in reply to @BertrandRussell - that, along with his opaque position on Brexit, is why I won't vote for him.
And I don't read the Daily Mail or vote Tory.

VanyaHargreeves · 31/10/2019 22:28

@timeaftertime79

In this day and age a lot of what sways people is how someone comes across in rhe media

One of Corbyn's biggest problems I think for those voters who don't have a lot of particularly detailed knowledge is a lack of charisma and a lack of statesmanship qualities. He comes across like your mates Dad the retired Geography teacher not a leader of a G8 country

Boris Johnson on the other hand is a very clever man from a very privileged background who has always benefited from a media portrayal of "Loveable Buffoon. Top Lad. Banter" which doesn't match a more sinister reality.

GameofPhones · 31/10/2019 22:30

It's not true that everyone hates him. That's a myth put about by the media, and people who don't want to see their taxes rise.

BertrandRussell · 31/10/2019 22:31

And we’re back with the “If you are opposed to the actions of the Israeli government, you’re anti Semitic” trope again. I’m out.

Pixxie7 · 31/10/2019 22:32

I really don’t know, I think Corbyn acts as a gentleman and tries to keep the peace. He is a true labour representative, not like Blair and his new labour.
Although some of his policies seem a bit out there, but Boris has a proven history of being a liar, he is setting himself up for his next job in the states. Jo Swinson doesn’t respect democracy
