To ask how people 'accidentally' get pregnant?

Butterflyone12e · 31/10/2019 16:15

I honestly do wonder how people say they fell pregnant by accident. Of course I can understand the horrific situation if sexual abuse/rape was involved but do people honestly fall accidentally pregnant?

I'm 33 years of age and have never fallen pregnant because I've not wanted to fall pregnant.

I wondered what peoples stories are. I really disagree with terminations (again unless medial or abuse).

Why are people not allowed an opinion on abortion?? If the OP doesn't agree with it then she should be allowed to say that

Because it's a deliberate goady thread with views on abortion thrown in for good measure to give a certain impression of what the OP is getting at. Sneary in fact.

Let's hope your coil doesn't fail you eh OP?

stucknoue · 31/10/2019 16:57

I've had the pill fail twice, once because I got food poisoning (we abstained after me throwing up but the midwife explained that sperm can stay alive for longer than you think) the other time I don't know how, the dr had changed the brand the cycle before

PortiaCastis · 31/10/2019 16:58

Blimey who are you doing a survey or article for
Stop being a CF and gleaning info

sue51 · 31/10/2019 16:58

I got pregnant with a coil. DD2 became pregnant while on the pill. These things happen.

sorrythisusernameisinuse · 31/10/2019 16:59

we used a condom- it tore. I took the MAP straight away. It didn't work. Hence, accidental pregnancy. Had an abortion, was 6 years ago, dont regret the abortion but still a hard thing to go through. Luckily my bf now husband was completely supportive. Just bad luck 🤷🏼‍♀️

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 31/10/2019 16:59

A friend (who won't have abortions) has put her life at risk several times after a very traumatic, nearly lethal, planned pregnancy. She's got pregnant several times since despite using a variety of contraceptives - they have all failed. She has now had an hysterectomy but she is enjoying her large family.

Aridane · 31/10/2019 16:59

OP are you going to reply to anyone or have you had enough of being a goady fucker today?

Has ha - OP being called a goady fucker because she didn't post again within the 1st seven minutes of her first post Grin

frazzledasarock · 31/10/2019 16:59

Friend had a coil.

She got pregnant.

Ariela · 31/10/2019 16:59

I was VERY regular pill taker, yet still got pregnant. The only thing we could think of was that around the time of conception we had been in France and I'd eaten a seafood dish that had mildly disagreed with me. I wasn't sick, nor did I have diarrhea, just slightly loose bowels for a day or two.

newnameagainagain · 31/10/2019 17:00

I can see lots and lots of human error stories here and only a few genuinely sound 'accidental' and maybe if women were more aware of their bodies and cycles etc then these user error accidents' would be even less.

I get it's emotive.

I come from a background where babies out of wedlock is frowned on so maybe that influences my extreme caution

Walnutwhipster · 31/10/2019 17:00

I have a close friend currently pregnant nine years after being stabilised.

TwistinMyMelon · 31/10/2019 17:01

Oh ffs not this again. I got pregnant with my dd at age 28. I was using reliable contraception. I had previously been in a ltr where we took a few risks in hindsight but it never happened. Sometimes it just happens. Bully for you that you've never got pregnant accidentally, but you do know you're only one person right?

Accidental pregnancies happen sometimes no method of contraception is 100% effective and it doesn't promise to be.

Walnutwhipster · 31/10/2019 17:01

Damn autocorrect! Sterilised!

Teateaandmoretea · 31/10/2019 17:02

Why are people not allowed an opinion on abortion?? If the OP doesn't agree with it then she should be allowed to say that

You are allowed to disagree and therefore not have one yourself. You are not allowed to enforce your views on other women as per is our law and that of any sane country. HTH.

Whuut · 31/10/2019 17:02

My dad had a vasectomy, few years later had a child. I didn't even know that was possible til then.

BoggiesBonnieBelle · 31/10/2019 17:02

How do all the incredibly fertile people know they are incredibly fertile and not just normal, if all it takes is one sperm and no contraception is 100%?

I had my hormone levels checked in my late 30s and was told that my levels were unusually high; usually there's a bit of a decrease after 35, but either mine hadn't started to decrease, or had been even higher earlier. The doctor cheerfully told me that I'd probably not go through the menopause till my mid to late fifties.

Aridane · 31/10/2019 17:03

There will be contraceptive failure - but let's face it, there are more 'accidental' pregnancies than there are contraceptive failures (going on the statistics for contraceptive failure where the failure is due to the contraception rather than user error)

DustyMaiden · 31/10/2019 17:03

I have been pregnant 17 times every form of contraception has failed. I even got pregnant when I was pregnant.

Pukeworthy · 31/10/2019 17:04

I have never been 'caught up in the moment', but ive had a condom imperceptibly 'fail', no break, everything seemed normal, but et viola, baby!

beelzeboob · 31/10/2019 17:05

I’m a walking talking contraceptive failure!
My mum has the coil in and was 37 when she conceived me and my sister.

GrapefruitGin · 31/10/2019 17:06

I know this may sound blunt but the reason you haven’t been pregnant before may not be down to your choice - until you start ‘trying’, you don’t know if you’re able to get pregnant. I’ve always used contraception yet it failed me on one occasion.

mummmy2017 · 31/10/2019 17:07

Too much hot sex, after he came home to surprise me....

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 31/10/2019 17:07

@SnowJon really? No contraception is listed as over 99% effective. So 1 woman in 100 will fall pregnant. How many users are there on this site alone? Let's assume it's a million. So that's 10,000 accidents for starters.

Because if something isn't done intentionally then it is, by nature, accidental.

Duh.
