How are you voting in December?

Apologies if there’s already a thread on this - I did look and couldn’t find one.

So now it’s been confirmed that we’re having a GE in December, how are you voting? And what are your predictions on the results?

I’ve seen quite a few posts on here over the past couple months from people saying they wouldn’t vote now as they are politically homeless - wondering if these people still feel that way?

I’m voting labour - albeit in a very safe Tory area (so feel very much as though my vote doesn’t count). Reasons being I would never vote Tory and I don’t like a lot of what the Lim Dems have said recently. I also couldn’t bring myself not to vote at all.

Conservative and I think the conservatives will win. After the election I hope the country can reunite again as we’ve had such a politically toxic year.
I literally lol'd at this. Tories split the country. So let's vote Tory and hope the country can reunite again. It's going to take a generation to get over the divisions caused by Cameron, May and Johnson.

Cuddlysnowleopard · 30/10/2019 08:11

@BonnesVacances I'm on exactly the same position, maybe the same constituency.

I have always switched between Labour and Lib Dem, but I really like our instiutency MP. He's extremely good on local stuff, and has helped me out too.

If he stands as an independent, he gets my vote. If he regains the whip (and I don't really understand why he hasn't), then I might vote for him. I'm not voting for some random Tory replacement.

Lib Dem and Labour - too much dithering. I'm getting too old for that, my business and I need some certainty now.

Cuddlysnowleopard · 30/10/2019 08:12

Too many autocorrects! Constituency, ffs!

Symptomless · 30/10/2019 08:12

I should stop being surprised that so many are supporting austerity and Brexit.

motueka03 · 30/10/2019 08:13

Genuine question but those of you who say you have voted labour all your life and are now voting tory, why aren’t you going Lib Dem? Confused
Labour- party of workers rights
Tories- party of millionaire tax dodgers

Lib Dem’s- somewhere in between!!!

AmIThough · 30/10/2019 08:13

I can't get my head around how anyone would think they're going to represent them in any way.

We are classed as a high earning family (we earn outside of the limit of any government support including CB) in a working class area. I'm returning to work from maternity leave in a few months.

Many of my low earning friends can go back part time because universal credit tops up their earnings so they're actually better off than they were before AND can spend that extra time with their children.

I need to go back full time for us to maintain the same standard of living (which is fine because that's the way it should be - you should financially support your family off your own back IMO). After paying for childcare, we will have less spare cash a month than many of those working part time.

Whilst I agree that those genuinely in need shouldn't have to lose out on government support, it'll benefit us personally to lower the tax that higher earners have to pay.

GREATAUNT1 · 30/10/2019 08:13

Jeremy Corbyn.

NerdyCurvyInkedandPervy · 30/10/2019 08:13

Labour.

I think it'll be tight, but i think labour will win.

I could never bring myself to vote for the Cuntservatives. I can't understand why anyone would.

AlexaShutUp · 30/10/2019 08:13

My concern is so many people are only going to vote based on their opinion of Brexit. However the plus side of that is that many people will vote Lib Dem rather than Labour.

I'm not concerned about people voting on the basis of Brexit. It's the biggest issue we currently face as a nation (apart from climate change) and if we vote Boris back in, it will have implications for decades. A hard Brexit poses major threats to our economy, to public services and the welfare state, to the environment, to the war on terror and to peace in Northern Ireland. To me, it seems an absolute no-brainer that people would vote on the basis of this issue. Unless, of course, they have their head firmly buried in the sand.

As for Labour losing out to the lib dems, it's possible. The lib dems have certainly made their position very clear, and that can only work in their favour. However, I think most people who vote on the basis of Brexit alone will have the sense to vote tactically for the best local option to keep Boris out.

IVflytrap · 30/10/2019 08:13

Can't vote Lib Dem because they're pro austerity even after it has been proven to have significantly shrunk the UK's economy over the last 9 years, and also I think the poor and disabled have had enough now.

The Tories are a farce, they've doubled our national debt since they got into power despite us not being in recession. Also standing to make masses amount of profit from the ruin of their own country. Rees Mogg getting his hedge fund manager to bet millions on the pound sterling failing after Brexit, and then pushing a no-deal should be considered treason. Also their unwillingness to deal with their racists. Absolute shambles.

It'll have to be Labour, despite their slow response to ousting the antisemites. At least none of them are actively betting on the destruction of the UK. A low bar, admittedly.

leckford · 30/10/2019 08:13

Spoiled ballots count for nothing, people are too busy counting to read them. I used to volunteer in a polling station

It is really better to vote for the least worse option.

I would never voted for Corbyn, Abbott and McDonell and don’t trust the Lib Dems

Libertylee · 30/10/2019 08:13

Conservative

MyOtherProfile · 30/10/2019 08:14

I’ve voted labour all my life but I will never ever vote for them when Corbyn is in charge. So I shall vote Tory with a heavy heart

I genuinely don't understand this. How on earth is lying, cheating, self serving Johnson a better bet than Corbyn? However bad JC may seem I can't see how anyone can think BJ is better. That man will ruin our country while seeking his own and his friends' profit.

IAmPrettyWisdomous · 30/10/2019 08:14

Those who constantly put down Corbyn, have you actually checked this mans voting record and seen all the work he has done? Furthermore, are you familiar with the policies he believes in?

I’m just disgusted that even after all of this mess there are people who will still vote conservative despite them causing the UK to look like an embarrassment globally. Furthermore, why would you continue to vote for a party that is so horrendous?

It’s the same old isn’t it, people don’t really care about things unless it actually bothers them. The country is a mess and more and more people are in poverty in the UK.

TheGoogleMum · 30/10/2019 08:15

Lib dems probably . It's a Labour seat currently but also a leave area so labour mp could be in trouble. I really wish there was a way to stop the conservatives remaining in power I think they're just awful for most of us and I find it upsetting when others don't see it!

motueka03 · 30/10/2019 08:15

@MyOtherProfile EXACTLY this!!! Totally agree!!

" X% are so fed up with them that they prefer to make the effort to go to the polls and tell them so"
Yes, this. Its an active thing. If these people just don't vote then the message will be about apathy.

ExecutiveFiat · 30/10/2019 08:17

Labour, despite their confused Brexit stance, I like their policies. I agree with the Lib Dem’s about revoking art 50, but that’s where it ends. They’re just yellow tories. Swinson is a megalomaniac. Would never in a million years vote Cons. . Wish I could vote for the SNP Smile Hope they obliterate the Tories in Scotland!

Wineislifex · 30/10/2019 08:17

I’ll be voting Boris, I’m from a very labour area but can’t stand Corbyn, we voted leave so let’s get the job done. You can’t have a vote and then refuse to honour the response because it’s not the one you wanted!

Stuckinarut81 · 30/10/2019 08:17

I would like to vote labour but will probably vote Lib Dem, as labour have almost a zero chance of winning in this area.

I would imagine the Tories will win overall but I hope to god they don’t. I just don’t understand how anyone who isn’t a psychopath could vote that way bearing in mind the harm they have caused to the more vulnerable members of society.

BlindAssassin1 · 30/10/2019 08:17

Labour.

I actually like Corbyn but can't stand a lot of the rest of the Labour lot. I live in a pretty safe Con seat though.

wrongside · 30/10/2019 08:17

Scottish Conservative and Unionist party

Symptomless · 30/10/2019 08:17

Unfortunately this ge, like the last one, will mainly be about Brexit. None of the other, equally real and important issues will really be considered by many.

IAmPrettyWisdomous · 30/10/2019 08:18

I’ve voted labour all my life but I will never ever vote for them when Corbyn is in charge. So I shall vote Tory with a heavy heart

And this is why the country is the state it’s in. Vote for the fucking policies! You’re not voting for Corbyn himself FFS. The ignorance is so strong.
