How are you voting in December?

Apologies if there’s already a thread on this - I did look and couldn’t find one.

So now it’s been confirmed that we’re having a GE in December, how are you voting? And what are your predictions on the results?

I’ve seen quite a few posts on here over the past couple months from people saying they wouldn’t vote now as they are politically homeless - wondering if these people still feel that way?

I’m voting labour - albeit in a very safe Tory area (so feel very much as though my vote doesn’t count). Reasons being I would never vote Tory and I don’t like a lot of what the Lim Dems have said recently. I also couldn’t bring myself not to vote at all.

You might not like Corbyn but he's a far more DECENT HUMAN BEING than Boris

Unless you're Jewish.

DrVonPatak · 31/10/2019 08:08

Libdem all the way.

isabellerossignol · 31/10/2019 08:09

Unless you're Jewish.

Or a woman

FadingStar · 31/10/2019 08:14

Lol because Johnson is any kind of friend to women!😂😂

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 31/10/2019 08:14

People are not voting on a contest of who is the more decent human being or on individual people’s circumstances (apart from their own) as under all governments people suffer and people gain

This election in particular people are voting on which party and leader can move the UK forward the vote will largely be dominated by Brexit because this is what dominates our politics and has done for the last three years the biggest question now is do we want to move forward and leave or are voters willing to drag this out for longer and a support a new government to negotiate another deal and have another vote (well aware of LD position but they don’t have a chance of getting in)

I actually think one of the most decent politicians is Ken Clarke but it would make me vote Conservative. I greatly admire that he was the only Tory MP to stand against the whip and not support Article 50 to be evoked that’s true commitment to what you feel is best for the country not for your party or political career (though aware his is near the end) shame other remain MP were not quite so committed

Trewser · 31/10/2019 08:15

I think the lib dems might do well here. I have a feeling it will be between the lib dems and the brexit party. Our moderate tory Mp lost the whip and the replacement looks dire.

FadingStar · 31/10/2019 08:16

I don’t understand how people can vote Tory either. They are a shower of shit. Other than the one poster who basically as good as admitted it’s because she doesn’t give a fuck about anyone but herself not many people have said why though.

I asked earlier what good, positive achievements for the people of this country the Tories have managed in the last nine years and what good things they will bring, especially to the most vulnerable.

Tumbleweed.

Wow - because Boris Johnson is known to really respect Muslims and women?
Seriously - get a grip!

Johnson is a proven liar, racist and sexist imbecile, who puts himself alone at the top of every agenda!

Sunshine93 · 31/10/2019 08:25

OtraCosaMariposa he has spoken up for Jewish people hundreds of times. The anti-Semitism thing is a right wing slur because if his support for Palestine. Plenty of Jewish people support labour.

sonicshoegazes · 31/10/2019 08:26

Labour in a relatively safe seat in the midlands.

Sunshine93 · 31/10/2019 08:26

@isabellerossignol

Unless you're Jewish.

Or a woman

Jeremy Corbyn respects women, he just also respects trans people. I'm not entirely convinced of the arguments for self identification but I won't fall into the trap of believing it's anti-woman.

Sunshine93 · 31/10/2019 08:27

I think some of the Corbyn smears are people wanting to justify why they are voting Tory when really it's because they don't want to pay more tax

Answerthequestion · 31/10/2019 08:28

@sunshine93 I don’t know what world you live in but he has not stood up for British Jews. Israel aside, he can think what he wants. Not only has he not stood up for British Jews he hasn’t stood up for his own Jewish MP’s. The Jewish community is tiny, most MNers have probably never met a Jew or come across more than one or two unless they live in north London, Manchester or Leeds but trust me, he is no friend to us and we are the ones who know.

Answerthequestion · 31/10/2019 08:29

Oh and virtually no Jewish people support labour any more and those who do are sticking by because they hope that they can oust Corbyn.

isabellerossignol · 31/10/2019 08:31

I'll not be voting for either party, I'm not sure if they even field candidates in my constituency. But if I were in constituency where there were a Labour candidate I couldn't support them whilst Jeremy Corbyn is in charge, due to his support of the delightful Lily Madigan. If Lily Madigan doesn't represent anti-woman, I struggle to imagine what would actually be classed as anti-woman.

pourmeanotherglass · 31/10/2019 08:31

Probably voting green in a very safe Labour seat.

HarrassedMumof3 · 31/10/2019 08:35

Labour.
My life will be hardly affected by the Tories - in fact I'll probably be better off - but I'd rather live in a society where people can live without needing food banks and schools can afford basic resources. Too many people vote in their own self interest, and to maintain their own privilege.

isabellerossignol · 31/10/2019 08:36

Lol because Johnson is any kind of friend to women

I'm not suggesting Johnson is any kind of a friend to women, just countering the suggestion that Corbyn is an all round decent bloke.

Mind you, I'd take an old fashioned misogynist like Boris Johnson over a woke sort like Corbyn any day. Boris Johnson doesn't even pretend to be decent, at least you can see what he's all about. Which is mainly himself...

Willowcat77 · 31/10/2019 08:36

How do can anyone even consider voting Tory after the revelations that they have been in secret talks with US firms to discuss selling off parts of the NHS in preparation for a post-Brexit trade deal?

Trewser · 31/10/2019 08:37

The nhs cannot continue as it is. Anyone that says it can is lying.

StoneofDestiny · 31/10/2019 08:37

The poem that Johnson allowed published about Scottish people in The Spectator when he was Editor was condemned by the
chair of the Race Equality Commission who said;
“We find this poem very offensive and the language is deeply inflammatory. It does nothing to promote race relations and undermines relations between Scotland and the rest of Britain, and our relationship with other countries.”

”Some of the language, such as ‘comprehensive extermination’ and ‘polluting our stock’, is completely and utterly unacceptable. It cannot be tolerated.”

If Jew or Muslim or Black had been inserted into the poem there would have been a national outcry! Yet this guy was chosen by Tories as ‘their best’ to be PM and they have the gall to scream about Corbyn being anti Semitic!
(Scottish Tories banned him from their conference under ‘Operation Arse’!

DoctorMarten · 31/10/2019 08:39

I can’t vote Tory or labour thanks to JC. I’ll go Libdem. If Labour had a better leader, I’d vote for her...

StoneofDestiny · 31/10/2019 08:39

Boris Johnson doesn't even pretend to be decent, at least you can see what he's all about. Which is mainly himself

Ideal as leader of the UK then 🧐

Willowcat77 · 31/10/2019 08:43

@Trewser selling our NHS to US companies is not the answer though
