How are you voting in December?

Apologies if there’s already a thread on this - I did look and couldn’t find one.

So now it’s been confirmed that we’re having a GE in December, how are you voting? And what are your predictions on the results?

I’ve seen quite a few posts on here over the past couple months from people saying they wouldn’t vote now as they are politically homeless - wondering if these people still feel that way?

I’m voting labour - albeit in a very safe Tory area (so feel very much as though my vote doesn’t count). Reasons being I would never vote Tory and I don’t like a lot of what the Lim Dems have said recently. I also couldn’t bring myself not to vote at all.

OP posts:

Their position is they want a people's vote

I thought their position was that they would get a deal, a better deal than BoJo apparently, THEN have a vote, so the Eu would magically give concessions and agree to labour's deal which would then be campaigned for and against by Labour in a peoples vote?

LucileDuplessis · 31/10/2019 07:40

Trewser - exactly. If only Labour could be clearer about their Brexit position they would win support I think.

Sunshine93 · 31/10/2019 07:42

@Trewser the EU want a closer relationship and labour would want to be in the single market and customs union. The EU have clearly indicated they would back this, on several occasions.

Sunshine93 · 31/10/2019 07:42

It really is easy to understand.

TheClitterati · 31/10/2019 07:44

I usually vote Labour. But not anymore.

I think LD have a good chance of unthroning Torys here. I'll probably vote them.

They are all odious re women but I can't spoil my vote. One thing at a time I guess.

I think it will be hung Parliament. GE is going to make Brexit mess worse not better.

itsstillgood · 31/10/2019 07:44

Tory. Never, ever thought I'd be a Tory voter feel like a traitor to my roots but Labour lost my vote years ago. I did get caught up in Corbyn mania at the start and vote for them again but rose coloured specs fell off very quickly.
Lib Dems are my party for most things apart from Brexit - I believe we should leave - that is a pretty big stumbling block.
I am in safe Tory seat anyway and I have met my MP quite a few times, I like her and even though I don't agree on everything she has my respect.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 31/10/2019 07:45

Of course Brexit is going to dominate many people’s reasoning to vote for a particular party

I wish a party would actually come forward and be honest about he NHS not witter on about how wonderful it is and how it’s safe in their hands. We could look to countries like France and Germany and use their models and have a much better all round service but it’s used as a political pawn. So much if it is already privatised and has been for years it’s falling apart so much money is wasted yet all parties know this yet none will actually be honest with voters

Trewser · 31/10/2019 07:45

Jc has shown time and again that he wasn't interested in Brexit. In fact he was a staunch Leaver - he's all about the state, and having the EU telling the uk what to do didn't fit. He knows a lot of Labour heartlands voted Leave. That's why the policy is so confusing.

Also they totally piggy backed onto the Peoples Vote, was the Lib Dems who came up with that!

malificent7 · 31/10/2019 07:45

Greens...climate change is more important than Brexit.I dont do tactical voting....i vote for what i believe in.

Trewser · 31/10/2019 07:46

Couldn't agree more enthusiasm!

All desperate to stay in the EU but not admiring enough to learn from their health care systems!

Sunshine93 · 31/10/2019 07:47

It isn't confusing. Why are people confused? I don't get it.

Trewser · 31/10/2019 07:48

Because how can you seriously negotiate a better deal with the EU when all parties know its then going to a referendum?

Sotiredofthislife · 31/10/2019 07:50

Labour. Marginal seat in Conservative hands. Not keen on Corbyn as a leader but want to vote for the local candidate who is fab and has been working very hard for the good of our community for a few years now, Lib Dem’s don’t stand a chance here.

Sunshine93 · 31/10/2019 07:50

He wants to be a member of the customs union and single market but leave the EU. He isn't driving a hard bargain. The EU would prefer that so it's win win for them.

Iggly · 31/10/2019 07:50

What does it say about people who hear stories like mine, and still vote to keep their holiday, at the expense of someone else eating? Is that who people really want to be

It says a lot.

Especially as the person taking the fancy holidays won’t actually lose out by ensuring everyone has enough to eat.
We are a very rich country. There’s plenty for everyone.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 31/10/2019 07:51

LD. Here is always a pretty close toss up between Con/LD and Con only scraped in by a whisker last time. Strong Remain area so this will almost certainly be a loss for Boris.

ilovetofu · 31/10/2019 07:54

I'm in a very safe labour seat here. But I am really at a loss to see how anyone could vote Tory right now. They will continue to DESTROY our public services. It makes me sad and angry in equal measure. PLEASE. vote for anyone but them PLEASE 🙏

ilovetofu · 31/10/2019 07:55

You might not like Corbyn but he's a far more DECENT HUMAN BEING than Boris.

Iggly · 31/10/2019 07:56

I’ve just checked my local MP’s majority. It’s pretty substantial with labour getting a massive increase in 2017, but not enough.

In the past the Lib Dems have had a strong second place showing.

We’ve got quite a lot of people moving here from London so I can only hope there’s a shift away from the tories.

We need proportional representation.

MyOtherProfile · 31/10/2019 07:59

You might not like Corbyn but he's a far more DECENT HUMAN BEING than Boris.

This. With bells on.

myhandsareverycold · 31/10/2019 08:01

Conservative

malificent7 · 31/10/2019 08:02

Corbyn is a good man who has been gagged by the right wing media.
Get the Tories out.

Flowersonthewall · 31/10/2019 08:04

You might not like Corbyn but he's a far more DECENT HUMAN BEING than Boris.* *

Damn right. There was a tweet last night that I completely agreed with last night

'You don't hate Corbyn as much as you need the nhs' this needs to be plastered everywhere! I

If you are actually considering voting for the tories you are voting for a future without the nhs. Well done you

MyOtherProfile · 31/10/2019 08:04

Yes the number of lies told and believed about Corbyn is frightening. And same for the amount of lies told by Johnson.

57Varieties · 31/10/2019 08:05

I don’t understand how people can vote Tory either. They are a shower of shit. Other than the one poster who basically as good as admitted it’s because she doesn’t give a fuck about anyone but herself not many people have said why though.
