How are you voting in December?

Apologies if there’s already a thread on this - I did look and couldn’t find one.

So now it’s been confirmed that we’re having a GE in December, how are you voting? And what are your predictions on the results?

I’ve seen quite a few posts on here over the past couple months from people saying they wouldn’t vote now as they are politically homeless - wondering if these people still feel that way?

I’m voting labour - albeit in a very safe Tory area (so feel very much as though my vote doesn’t count). Reasons being I would never vote Tory and I don’t like a lot of what the Lim Dems have said recently. I also couldn’t bring myself not to vote at all.

I just do not understand people who see that the Tories are utterly crap but they are so afraid of allowing another party in. They would rather wallow in muck than try to find a different way out. Who was it that said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results?

CendrillonSings · 30/10/2019 21:27

You’d have thought the lefties would have given up on socialism by now then?

FadingStar · 30/10/2019 21:30

What have the Tories done in the last nine years that has enriched our lives? What are you hoping they will do for the people of this country that will make our lives better?

Sunshine93 · 30/10/2019 21:31

@GlitchStitch

He really isn't an antisemite. That's not to say there is no antisemitism in the party or in any of the other parties.

How are you voting in December?
FrankRattlesnake · 30/10/2019 21:32

I have no idea who to vote for. I don’t think anyone represents my views...

I’m in a Tory safe seat, I don’t believe they have been a particularly positive influence. I work in government and austerity is about to hit hard (didn’t they say that was over!?!?). Services are about to get cut and first the first time in a long time there is a real threat of large scale redundancies. I work in the Home Counties, in a generally affluent area with a risk adverse organisation where finances have been managed well and very conservatively (pardon the pun). I also can’t stand Bori (although the mayor in ben and Holly is quite fun!)

I voted to leave the EU, mainly because I wanted significant reform, given that that wasn’t forthcoming my choice was to leave. Whilst my politics (generally) aligns towards the Lib Dem’s, I don’t agree with the revocation off article 50 without a further referendum.

I’m also strongly involved in the union, so some might say that I’d be interested in Labour. But I can’t get beyond Corbyn and I’m not sure he would lead us in the right direction with strength.

There will be some other marginal parties represented. I will not vote for the brexit party or farage (he is scary), beyond brexit and again revoking article 50 I am unsure of the greens wider policies.

So what on Earth do I do? I don’t know. Voting is important to me, spoiling my ballot is an option but it’s also not ideal 🤷🏼‍♀️

Can't believe people on such high salaries who trot out "where's my incentive for working hard?" Er, maybe your high salary?

Well exactly

Sunshine93 · 30/10/2019 21:34

cendrillonSings it's seems to be working quite well in Denmark and Norway for example. They have democratic socialist leaders, high rates of tax and some of the best standards of living in the world.

AllTheGoodUNsTaken · 30/10/2019 21:34

Here is a list of some of the racist, sexist and homophobic things Boris has allegedly written or said. Just for a balanced thread, you know.

GlitchStitch · 30/10/2019 21:39

We'll have to disagree on that one Sunshine93. 85% of British Jews disagree with you too.

I will be voting Labour as I always have an always will. I truly can’t fathom how anyone can vote Tory. Evil.

Coldemort · 30/10/2019 21:54

@DBML I worked hard. I went to university. I actually have worked since I was 13 (stick that in your pipe). I am also in the higher tax bracket.
Out of curiosity I checked to see how much UC I would receive if I was suddenly unable to work. It's less than £800 pcm. That is just unliveable.
My mother has a long standing medical condition which privately would have cost in excess of £1mill.
I don't think I pay enough tax. After all as a childfree person I need to subsidise your child.....
And if you're in the higher tax bracket and are struggling you really need to look at your life and check your fucking 'entitlement'.
I'm privalged that I've never needed to claim welfare, I'm healthy, I don't have children - I'm probably one of the people who claim the absolute least from the state. I am however very aware of this and don't begrudge one single penny that helps people who don't have the lovely life that I have.
So echoing previous posters, do please fuck off.

ScreamedAtTheMichelangelo · 30/10/2019 21:59

Labour. Ideally I’d vote Green and then LD but my constituency is a very marginal Labour hold (switched in 2017) and the Tories have to be voted out.

Coulddowithanap · 30/10/2019 22:00

No idea

candlefloozy · 30/10/2019 22:02

Don't trust corbyn but also don't want to
Vote Tory. So really don't know

sevencontinents · 30/10/2019 22:06

Wow DBML. Just wow. Speechless.

FoxFoxSierra · 30/10/2019 22:07

I'll be voting labour. I live in a lib dem stronghold but leave won here and there are a lot of angry brexiteers in this area so fuck knows what will happen

ExhaustedGrinch · 30/10/2019 22:07

Politically homeless.

Can't vote for Lib Dems because they want to remove the right of a spouse to be able to veto their partners transition. I find it absolutely unforgivable. If I marry a man and he wants a sex change and I cannot veto that until divorce then I end up in a same "sex" marraige against my wishes.

Won't vote for Labour with Corbyn in charge, he should do the right thing and fuck off to save the party because whilst he's there they're losing votes (imo).

Never voted Conservatives but they're looking like an option at the moment.

Might vote Green or Plaid Cymru but will have to have a closer look at their policies before making my final decision.

LoonyLunaLoo · 30/10/2019 22:10

Lib Dems

Cinammoncake · 30/10/2019 22:10

I am absolutely gobsmacked that this highly unlikely scenario outweighs any other issues for you in terms of our country going forwards and the the future for all our kids. I mean fair enough if that's your view, but it's hard to understand for me.

Eleanorbellanor · 30/10/2019 22:12

Conservative and I think Nigel Farage and Boris will end up going into business together to help the tories to a majority

Snowy111 · 30/10/2019 22:13

I really wish we had proportional representation then I’d feel I didn’t have a wasted vote. I’m in a safe Tory seat. Would like to vote Lib Dem to revoke A50 but will have to vote labour for best chance to get my current Tory MP out.

I think Tories plus Brexit party are a likely hung parliament and there will still be a Brexit impasse as the ERG and farage will want no deal. Even a Tory majority isn’t safe as ERG will push for no deal. They want rich richer and poor poorer.

Snowy111 · 30/10/2019 22:16

Jeez exhausted that’s the weirdest reason for not voting for a party I’ve ever heard Confused. Seems completely fair to me that you can’t choose what they do with their body - just divorce them!

ExhaustedGrinch · 30/10/2019 22:24

Cinammoncake - It might be highly unlikely for you but you only have to read the Transwidow threads on here to see it's a common enough occurance to matter.

Snowy111 Of course you can divorce them, but if they drag it out then in the meantime you end up in a same 'sex' marriage against your wishes. I have no desire to be married to another woman against my wishes and plenty of other people feel the same way. It might be 'weird' to you but it's something that I feel strongly about, as do many other people.

Daisychainsandglitter · 30/10/2019 22:28

Lib Dem here. How anyone can vote Conservative quite frankly astounds me!!
