How are you voting in December?

Apologies if there’s already a thread on this - I did look and couldn’t find one.

So now it’s been confirmed that we’re having a GE in December, how are you voting? And what are your predictions on the results?

I’ve seen quite a few posts on here over the past couple months from people saying they wouldn’t vote now as they are politically homeless - wondering if these people still feel that way?

I’m voting labour - albeit in a very safe Tory area (so feel very much as though my vote doesn’t count). Reasons being I would never vote Tory and I don’t like a lot of what the Lim Dems have said recently. I also couldn’t bring myself not to vote at all.

If anyone is not sure about voting at all or cannto make up their minds - try voting Conservative. It makes sense.

To a Conservative supporter maybe. Some people find the party / its leadership abhorrent.

If you're not sure about voting, maybe vote for any party, not what some internet random tells you 'makes sense' without any regard for your circumstances or personal moral compass.

FthisS · 30/10/2019 19:19

Labour, I'm going to be door knocking and posting leaflets non stop until election. Last election day we even knocked on doors until stations closed offering lifts to people we had identified as labour supporters.

Ibanez0815 · 30/10/2019 19:20

not sure but not conservative. I have a severely disabled child and we have been already hard by all the cuts. Another Tory government scares the life out of me.

Beyond me why anyone could even contemplate voting for such a vile party.

birdandroses · 30/10/2019 19:22

Ps it’s interesting that even the Financial Times have been having some articles saying the economic ideas of Labour could just be what we need. I like the idea of trying to stop the ever increasing gap between the wealthy and everyone else. The green new deal and an introduction of a sovereign fund to kick start new infrastructure sound promising.

ThebishopofBanterbury · 30/10/2019 19:23

I support Labour (preferably without Corbyn) but they have never won in my constituency. Therefore will be voting tactically for the lib dems in order to get rid of the Conservatives.

fotheringhay · 30/10/2019 19:24

I could vote conservative. But then I'd have to live with that knowledge for evermore. So maybe I won't do that.

AllTheGoodUNsTaken · 30/10/2019 19:24

I tihnk we Tories and the MN Labour voters are just going to have to agree to disagree. In my view Labour does not have some "fantasitc policies". It has some very damaging policies which will harm ordinary people and jeopardise the welfare of the nation. They are not to be trusted with the UK's economy.

We've had almost 10 years of Conservatives. Their dangerous policies have ruined lives and the welfare of the nation. And national debt has never been higher.
In truth, neither party is fantastic, but anyone who seriously thinks that "ordinary people" are better off under the conservatives needs to give their head a wobble.

Jimdandy · 30/10/2019 19:25

I’m a reluctant conservative.

I would never ever vote for labour. I lost all respect for LibDem in 2011 and I’m a leader anyway.

They’re all useless and just interested one themselves. All hypocrites and riding the gravy train.

Legomadx2 · 30/10/2019 19:26

Conservative

FadingStar · 30/10/2019 19:28

Can't believe people are defending voting Tory because of the racist Labour. So Priti Patel using the threat of food shortages to exert pressure on a country that suffered horribly in a famine is ok? Or are Irish people fair game? The Tories barely considered the GFA and came up with foolish suggestions such as using tech for the border so little did they care. It seems that people are prepared to overlook Tory abuses of other nations.....but somehow Labour are held to a different standard.

And that's not even mentioning Johnson's dad talking about Irish bog rats.🤬

Drag0nflye · 30/10/2019 19:31

I’d rather take a nail gun to the head than vote Tory. I despise the ‘tory lite’ Lib Dems as well but may have to hold my nose and vote for them to keep the tories out as I live in a Lib Dem/Tory marginal seat with only a couple of hundred votes in it.

Green Party is what I’d love to vote for though. Happy with Labour too but would prefer it if Starmer were leading the party. Corbyn just doesn’t attract the moderate/central/floating voters and they are the ones that ultimately decide elections.

SprinklesofStardust · 30/10/2019 19:31

Labour. I am not rich.

fotheringhay · 30/10/2019 19:33

So I have a theory. I love a good theory Grin It's based on canvassing hundreds of voters.

It's this: people vote the way they do MUCH more often through fear of a worse future than hope for a better one.

Tory friends of mine say they "wouldn't risk" voting Labour, as they (we) would screw the economy.

So it's my belief that the UK is naturally small-c conservative, and only go Labour-wards when things couldn't get worse (aka things can only get better Grin )

Young people might be more likely to vote based on optimism, poss why the Tories aren't keen to lower the voting age.

I'd hope things are at a dire enough stage that people will take that leap in December, but I'm not sure

LaurieMarlow · 30/10/2019 19:37

I have no fucking idea why one mistake the LDs made almost 10 years ago would be held against them while the absolute shitshow the Tories have inflicted upon us in the years they’ve been in power would be overlooked.

Are people thinking straight. I absolutely don’t get it.

MarshaBradyo · 30/10/2019 19:40

I agree with that re LDs - when the Tories keep making mistakes. Teflon-coated Boz.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 30/10/2019 19:41

Allthe, for me it’s not about being better off personally. Voting for me is who I believe is best for the country and future generations.

FadingStar · 30/10/2019 19:41

I think it is because no one can come up with good, enriching and positive reasons for voting Tory, s they have to trawl through the other parties to justify it. That should say everything and more to people thinking of voting for them.

FadingStar · 30/10/2019 19:41

Sorry, that was to Laurie.

fotheringhay · 30/10/2019 19:46

Are you referring to the LD mistake of going into coalition with the Tories? Less a mistake than showing their true colours imo. And look where that decision led us.

The Tories are the damaging party of course, but another party that supports them? Never getting my vote again

FadingStar · 30/10/2019 19:47

If only DUP voters would have the same standards.

SerafinaPekkalasbroomstick · 30/10/2019 19:48

Well here I may as well just write fuck the Tories on my paper to spoil it as no one else will ever get in! I'll prob vote green though. If it's even an option. Bloody brexit party tried to give me a newspaper the other day and I told them I wouldn't even line my rabbits litter tray with it.

TulipsTulipsTulips · 30/10/2019 19:53

Anyone who is NOT rich should vote tory- because a vote for labour will mean more financial hardship as labour overspend, destabilise the economy and saddle our children with even more debt. The best thing you can do for your finances is to vote tory. The best thing for your children’s future is a conservative government because labour will spend today and leave our children with the bill.

Lolwhat · 30/10/2019 19:54

Labour

fotheringhay · 30/10/2019 19:54

Are there any other "reasons" to vote Tory other than Labour will screw the economy? Or personal attacks on JC? Genuine question, honestly

NoWordForFluffy · 30/10/2019 19:57

Total and utter irresponsible bollocks. I hope nobody believes you and decides to vote Tory because of it!
