How are you voting in December?

Apologies if there’s already a thread on this - I did look and couldn’t find one.

So now it’s been confirmed that we’re having a GE in December, how are you voting? And what are your predictions on the results?

I’ve seen quite a few posts on here over the past couple months from people saying they wouldn’t vote now as they are politically homeless - wondering if these people still feel that way?

I’m voting labour - albeit in a very safe Tory area (so feel very much as though my vote doesn’t count). Reasons being I would never vote Tory and I don’t like a lot of what the Lim Dems have said recently. I also couldn’t bring myself not to vote at all.

OP posts:

Having been a member of the Labour party my whole adult life I gave up my membership earlier this year because of Corbyn's failure to adequately tackle anti-Semitism within the party and his lack of conviction over Brexit. It's not my party anymore and I fear a Corbyn/Mcdonnell government would be a disaster. BUT I know that I could never bring myself to vote Tory so I will probably (grudgingly) vote Lib Dem. Sadly, I think the Conservatives will win. In fact I think we are doomed to another ten miserable years of Tory rule unless Labour seriously get their act together.

I find it all genuinely depressing.

WrongKindOfFace · 30/10/2019 18:37

Labour. Local MP is very good. I have been somewhat disappointed in Jermey Corbyn’s ability to lead BUT the current shitshow is entirely a Tory mess. They started brexit with no fucking idea how they’d actually carry it out.

coffeeforone · 30/10/2019 18:38

Lib Dem for their stance on Brexit - reluctantly though

Coldemort · 30/10/2019 18:39

I'm in an exceptionally marginal seat (I think the most marginal seat) which is fought between Labour and Conservative. I'm naturally Lib Dem (well PC actually but wrong side of the border) but feel blackmailed into voting against the Tories rather than for my personal preference (thanks FPTP).
I'm really uncomfortable with Corbyns leadership, but my local Labour MP is really good and a vocal remainer so that may swing it for me.

isadoradancing123 · 30/10/2019 18:41

Cannot even consider labour with Jeremy Corbyn as leader

Sunshine93 · 30/10/2019 18:44

But MN annoys me in the fact that you can’t POSSIBLY have made an informed poltical decision for a main political party without only getting your facts from the daily mail. Honestly, how fucking patronising and ignorant

Ok let's put it this way.if you want to vote for Tories then you are either 1) rich and selfish or 2) not very well informed about what they have done/will do 3) a leaver

If any Tory voters could give me a 4th reason that isn't "Corbyn is a clown" with no evidence then I would be interested to hear it.

TheDarkPassenger · 30/10/2019 18:50

My plan is to forget about boz and jez and listen to what the parties have to say and vote like that.

Sunshine93 · 30/10/2019 18:51

MinisterforCheekyFuckery Labour is still a socialist party with some absolutely fantastic policies. If you have specific complaints about anti- semitism please raise them with the party but going on a public forum and telling people who are trying to decide who to vote for that labour is broken is just going to turn people to the Tories. It's clearly not what you want. I can confirm as a labour member that we are not broken,we are stronger than ever.

As a member you would have a voice when Corbyn steps down so surely you are better in than out.

It's just my opinion of course but I just wish the left wing would stick together a bit more. There is far more criticism on here of Corbyn than Johnson which is ridiculous considering the two men. Corbyn is a man full of integrity and compassion, Johnson is a man full of lies and arrogance. We should all be standing together to do whatever we can to get him out.

KilljoysDutch · 30/10/2019 18:55

All these people voting Tory - you do know you're voting for the deaths of thousands of vunerable people? They've already killed so many with benefit reforms, cutting police and firemen, mental health support.

I have severe MH issues, I can't get help anymore there's nothing out there for me because of cuts I lost my only support. I'm about to go through another ESA review which is destroying me. My MIL is dying and has to appeal her PIP because despite her spine crumbling and her liver dying she's well enough for work according to the Tories.

Please reconsider your vote.

DrCoconut · 30/10/2019 18:56

I'm in a traditionally labour area but people on the local news groups are talking about voting for Brexit party if they can. They can't see how voting for someone with no manifesto is a terrible idea. Or they will vote for the tories and then spend their time complaining about benefit cuts, NHS cuts/sell off etc. All because they can't look beyond Brexit. Our MP voted to trigger article 50 but it's not enough for them, they all say he's a remainer and should have "just got Brexit done". I'm not looking forward to our new right wing MP at all Sad

MamaMary · 30/10/2019 18:56

Conservative.

Can't believe how many are voting for anti-democratic Swinson and racist Corbyn.

Trewser · 30/10/2019 18:57

I suggest anyone reading this who is considering voting Tory to keep it to yourself.

recrudescence · 30/10/2019 18:57

Corbyn is a man full of integrity and compassion

He supported the IRA.

Trewser · 30/10/2019 18:59

Yes, he's been full of integrity over Brexit Hmm

AllTheGoodUNsTaken · 30/10/2019 18:59

It's hardly anti-democratic to say "if we get a majority we will revoke A50". IF the LD's get a majority, it's because a majority of people across the UK want to revoke. What's undemocratic about that?

Tellmetruth4 · 30/10/2019 18:59

How can someone say they won’t vote Labour because JC is anti-Semitic and vote Tory? Hello - ‘watermelon smiles’, ‘letterboxes’ etc. It’s almost as if they’re being disingenuous or is it ok to be offensive towards some groups and not others...

Tellmetruth4 · 30/10/2019 19:03

The DUP are the political wing of loyalist paramilitaries and they were given billions in bribes by the Tory’s. I didn’t see Labour giving £1bn to Sinn Fein. Are the DUP cool because they are unionist and not republicans?

MrsKoala · 30/10/2019 19:05

For the first time ever i'm seriously considering not voting. Not because of any disillusionment politically particularly, but because I live in one of the safest tory seats in the uk. Based on the last election I worked out that even if every voter that didn't vote tory united behind one person they'd still be 8k votes shy of the tory man.

I feel so pissed of that my vote counts for nothing. Especially at such a crucial time politically.

VanGoghsDog · 30/10/2019 19:10

So Corbyn is a man of integrity who changes his mind, with integrity.

While Johnson, who also changed his mind, is a liar.

And the person who posted this accuses others of being swayed by the press. You really couldn't make it up.

It's the right wing media that's made you think that.

It's that kind of patronising shit that Labour come out with all the time and makes me not want to vote for them.

I don't see any right wing media myself so it's hard to know how it's supposed to 'make' me think anything.

PierreBezukov · 30/10/2019 19:11

Not sure. I live in NI. It won't be DUP, that's for sure. I will need to carefully read all the party literature. Maybe Alliance.

DustyDiamond · 30/10/2019 19:12

The DUP are the political wing of loyalist paramilitaries and they were given billions in bribes by the Tory’s. I didn’t see Labour giving £1bn to Sinn Fein. Are the DUP cool because they are unionist and not republicans?

The DUP weren't given billions, Northern Ireland was.

Xenia · 30/10/2019 19:14

I tihnk we Tories and the MN Labour voters are just going to have to agree to disagree. In my view Labour does not have some "fantasitc policies". It has some very damaging policies which will harm ordinary people and jeopardise the welfare of the nation. They are not to be trusted with the UK's economy.

If anyone is not sure about voting at all or cannto make up their minds - try voting Conservative. It makes sense.

Cinammoncake · 30/10/2019 19:16

Why are people acting like the choices are only Tory or Labour? I reckon theres a high chance of LibDems doing well and they represent the centre ground

birdandroses · 30/10/2019 19:18

It’s between Tory and Labour here so Labour. I don’t want a Johnson govt that will just do basic trade deal with EU and accelerate taking us down the highway to a deregulated and low tax American style economy. Would be grim.

TriciaH87 · 30/10/2019 19:18

For who ever in my area has the balls to get brexit done.
