How are you voting in December?

Apologies if there’s already a thread on this - I did look and couldn’t find one.

So now it’s been confirmed that we’re having a GE in December, how are you voting? And what are your predictions on the results?

I’ve seen quite a few posts on here over the past couple months from people saying they wouldn’t vote now as they are politically homeless - wondering if these people still feel that way?

I’m voting labour - albeit in a very safe Tory area (so feel very much as though my vote doesn’t count). Reasons being I would never vote Tory and I don’t like a lot of what the Lim Dems have said recently. I also couldn’t bring myself not to vote at all.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens you're still counted in the turnout instead of people assuming you just couldn't be arsed. And spoiled ballots are declared.
So all political parties will know that 90 votes were spoilt in seat 123, and not that 90 extra people don't care enough to come out and cast their vote.

AllTheGoodUNsTaken · 30/10/2019 11:15

Ginfizplease it's beyond me too, but everyone has different opinions, I guess. I do wonder what I am missing though!

LaurieMarlow · 30/10/2019 11:20

I've come around to Boris after voting for another leadership candidate

Was it the lying, childish tantrums or sulking that brought you round?

Flamingnorahs · 30/10/2019 11:22

I'm shocked at the amount of Tories! Especially the usual labour voting ones that are going to switch because they dont like Corbyn! WTF??
I will be voting SNP. Have swung between SNP and labour but never ever Tory. And I never will.

Justtheoneplease · 30/10/2019 11:31

Lib Dems for me, never ever Torys and as for BJ, what a disgrace, horrible man, a liar and a thief.
Please don't vote for him, think of our future, our children's future. We have to get rid. What a utter mess this country is in, very sad days.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 30/10/2019 11:32

Flamingnorahs

Surprising for MN

But I’m not surprised Boris Johnson wins voters over and the stance of getting Brexit done I think will appeal to many.

CendrillonSings · 30/10/2019 11:36

Conservative - Labour’s plan to waste even more time negotiating their own deal and then campaigning against it in a referendum is so insane it has even EU officials tearing their hair out...

Gin96 · 30/10/2019 11:47

When Labour can’t even decide the difference between a man and a woman then we have serious issues. How on earth will they negotiate with the EU and there is their immigration policy which scares the hell out of me

Redwinestillfine · 30/10/2019 11:47

Green. I don't think I could spoil my ballot so at least I can give the environment a bump up the policy agenda.

Wineislifex · 30/10/2019 11:51

I don’t think labour under Corbyn have the polices or the balls to sort this country out at the moment and that’s why people will vote Tory

FadingStar · 30/10/2019 11:53

Working class people voting for the Tories. So turkeys really do vote for Christmas. 😭😭😭

AliceLittle · 30/10/2019 11:53

My want to save the NHS is greater than my hatred for Corbyn so I will still vote Labour.

MrsAJCrowley · 30/10/2019 11:55

Plaid Cymru. Might not make a difference in my seat but I can’t support the anti semitism of labour and am I fucked voting for the Tories

leavesrfalling · 30/10/2019 11:57

@DBML

So you would rather vote for a party which is led by someone who has been proven on many occassions to be a liar? You are right, the Conservatives have let us down, and it is nothing to do with other parties playing politics - the tories are the ones that brought in the referendum, they are completely responsible for the shambles that this country is in.

You also talk about getting poorer if Labour were in power, what about the increasing number of people living in poverty now due to the tories austerity and failed Universal credit system? Surely more equality in the country is a better thing?

anotherwayout · 30/10/2019 11:58

Probably Lib Dem. I don't know who the Conservative candidate will be as our current MP was one of those who left the party recently and is now an independent. I actually like him and if he stood as an independent I'd possibly vote for him as I think he has done a pretty good job but he has stated he is definitely retiring.

There's no way I'll vote for Tory, and I don't think the Labour candidate even lives in my area. I personally know the Lib Dem candidate and his ideas very much align with mine and he would do a great job. But I know Lib Dem are very unlikely to ever win an election and I would much rather Labour win than Tory. I'm not the biggest Corbyn fan but really don't get how anyone can think Boris Johnson is a better option.

LaurieMarlow · 30/10/2019 11:58

have the polices or the balls to sort this country out at the moment and that’s why people will vote Tory

And you think the torys have? Confused

Have you been following politics the last 4 years?

headinhands · 30/10/2019 12:00

Lab or Lib Dem depending on what's tactically best.

KidLorneRoll · 30/10/2019 12:03

I've come around to Boris after voting for another leadership candidate

It honestly baffles me how anyone can look at that man and think he should hold any position of responsibility whatsoever.

MaMaMaMySharona · 30/10/2019 12:06

The majority voted leave, how many revotes do you want? Til the majority is remain?

I think you'll find I haven't said anything about having a revote on this thread. Also how many times do people need to answer that question before it stops being asked?

It's not about 're-voting until we get the right answer' it's about people having the opportunity to vote on something now they understand it better - or vote on an actual deal rather than just a hypothetical scenario.

OP posts:
DustyDiamond · 30/10/2019 12:08

I'll be voting Tory this time round because of Brexit, but in future elections I'm interested in the SDP

I agree with quite a bit of their stuff & they are (I think) the centrist type of party that people are craving.
They straddle both sides of left/right.

I've linked to their page below - it's def worth a look.

Unfortunately they're a tiny party at the mo, but if you're politically homeless, desperately don't want to vote for any of the mainstream parties, are looking for a decent protest option & if they're standing in your area, then it might be worth voting for them rather than spoiling your ballot.

Working class people voting for the Tories. So turkeys really do vote for Christmas. 😭😭😭

🙄

Large swathes of working class people have always voted Tory.

If they didn't have a large chunk of working class support they'd never get elected.

Labour do not 'own' the working classes, no matter how much they think they should.

BeerandBiscuits · 30/10/2019 12:16

Conservative definitely.
Our local Tory MP is brilliant.

ShatnersWig · 30/10/2019 12:17

What's the point in spoiling the ballot? confused Surely you may as well just not waste everyones time and just not bother going along to vote at all?

Read the thread and you'll see why many of us think it is better to go along and register a "none of the above" protest, than not voting at all because our vote is pointless, because people died so we COULD vote.

Doobydoo · 30/10/2019 12:19

Labour

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 30/10/2019 12:20

Seems many labour supporters seem to think the vast majority of working class, those who work for the NHS and ethnic minorities wouldn’t vote for any other party than Labour

Tends to be Corbyn supporters too that have these very narrow minded views

Thatcher won over a huge amount of working class voters for many their lives changed by being able to by their council property and for many under her reign being able to climb the social ladder was celebrated

I’m well aware of the down falls in her time
