How are you voting in December?

Apologies if there’s already a thread on this - I did look and couldn’t find one.

So now it’s been confirmed that we’re having a GE in December, how are you voting? And what are your predictions on the results?

I’ve seen quite a few posts on here over the past couple months from people saying they wouldn’t vote now as they are politically homeless - wondering if these people still feel that way?

I’m voting labour - albeit in a very safe Tory area (so feel very much as though my vote doesn’t count). Reasons being I would never vote Tory and I don’t like a lot of what the Lim Dems have said recently. I also couldn’t bring myself not to vote at all.

can someone tell me how to work out the 'swing' or whatever its called and the likelihood of my MP being voted out?

He won by 18000 and the runner up had 16000 in the 2017 election (I'm rounding up)

a decrease for him and an increase for the runner up since the 2015 election

I'm in Scotland. our MSP won very narrowly in the last scottish election. different party from the MP.

So I'm wondering whether I should vote tactically or not. Don't like either party though.

W0rriedMum I presume you therefore want to trade under WTO terms while negotiating the magic trade agreements? Even the WTO head said this will be very hard for the UK which exports 45% to EU.

On your figures we thus export 55% to the rest of the world, and could presumably increase that.

Under the terms of the WA, we have a transition period which is when we negotiate (or not) the FTA. Other throd countries (which is what the EU is keen to stress we would be) are not bound by the ECJ, or have to be in step with the EU on taxation or state aid for example. Why should we be?

CarriMarie · 30/10/2019 10:34

Lib Dem. Sadly, my prediction is a hung parliament.

Iggly · 30/10/2019 10:38

On your figures we thus export 55% to the rest of the world, and could presumably increase that

45% to one trading bloc vs 55% to a number of different trading blocs.

We don’t have to export with the EU but we do because it’s easier. Government does if dictate the levels of trade, they can only make it easier/harder. If a lot of our markets are in the EU, then we still need a decent trade deal.

Iggly · 30/10/2019 10:39

Government does not dictate.

QueSera · 30/10/2019 10:40

Probably spoil my ballot - none of the parties care about women or will state clearly that men cannot be women.

chipsandpeas · 30/10/2019 10:42

snp

I want to have the NHS I remember from my youth back and for me that means voting Labour. I am sickened by the cuts the Conservatives have made to our vital services during this term. I also want big tax avoiding Companies clamped down on and that is a priority for Labour too. I do genuinely believe a lot of people are so anti Corbyn because the Media (who are threatened by a Labour government for a number of reasons) have done quite an incredible job of discrediting. From all the independent research I have done myself, he comes across as a principled, compassionate leader who wants more fairness in this country. I just can not understand how anyone can even consider voting for Boris Johnson either given that he has been proven over and over to be dishonest and self serving.

Lockshunkugel · 30/10/2019 10:45

ABC (Anyone But Corbyn)

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/10/2019 10:45

Given that all of the main parties think that anyone can be a woman if they say they are, I will hold my nose and vote for whoever has the best chance to unseat my slug of an ERG Tory MP.

I've signed up this site to help me decide

Binting · 30/10/2019 10:47

I'm spoiling my voting paper. I just can't vote for Corbyn. I'm in an area which is 80% Jewish and labour will still keep their seat.

theunknownknown · 30/10/2019 10:47

If people think that it's only the rich that are voting Conservative then they are wrong. I live in a Leave Northern town. Boris has huge support from white, working class leavers here. They switched from being life long Labour voters to Tory voting a while back now. Ask them who they will vote for? "Anyone who will get us out!" Is the response. They see Europe as the cause of their problems rather than the party that they are consistently voting for
Then frankly they deserve everything that will come their way if de Pfeffle Johnson wins. Useful idiots that they are.
Labour here. But in a safe Labour seat with a v high remain vote.
It is outside my realm of understanding why anyone would vote Tory.

veryboredtoday · 30/10/2019 10:51

Don't know, really honestly don't know. I have never felt so much in actual despair at the possible choices. Doesn't help being in a strong conservative seat who voted strongly in support of brexit. May just spoil the ballot sheet.

WhiskersPete · 30/10/2019 10:51

The number of people on here who are saying they will vote Conservative makes me feel physically sick.

We are in this Brexit mess BECAUSE of the conservatives. Boris Johnson is a proven a liar. He will literally say anything to get in power. The country is a mess. Austerity is ruining lives and Brexit is diverting all focus away from this. Even if you despise Corbyn how anyone can give a vote to the Tories just beggars belief.

otterturk · 30/10/2019 10:52

Tory

WhiskersPete · 30/10/2019 10:52

I will vote Labour btw

Leflic · 30/10/2019 10:53

Why spoil your paper though. It makes no difference to the country and people have no idea the reason why you spoilt it.
If you want PR vote Lib Dem’s who are trying to bring it in.
If you are fed up with Leave being blocked vote Conservativre so they get a majority or the Brexit party.. If you want to Remain vote for a party that wants to Remain.
No party will do everything you want because we aren’t clones.

ForeverFaff · 30/10/2019 10:54

Conservatives. It's always been lib-dem here, but the popular MP has said he won't stand again, and he only won on account of being an incredible mp, not because he was lib-dem iyswim.
Our area was 60% leave, so highly doubt Lib Dem will get in again.

I think conservatives will get in, by a landslide tbh. We've had the wishy-washy hung parliament, and labour are a joke. Everyone wants this fucking never ending faff to stop. They will vote Tory.

otterturk · 30/10/2019 10:54

I've come around to Boris after voting for another leadership candidate.

RaspberryBubblegum · 30/10/2019 10:55

Inside sources say the government have already had 6 meetings with US counterparts regarding Big Pharma and the NHS. If you vote conservative, our NHS is gone. I will be voting labour. They have already said the NHS is off the table of discussions with the US.

theneverendinglaundry · 30/10/2019 10:59

Undecided whether to vote for lib dem or labour.

I have never voted Tory and I never will. Ever.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 30/10/2019 11:03

Sorry if this has been covered, I've not read the whole thread.

What's the point in spoiling the ballot? Confused Surely you may as well just not waste everyones time and just not bother going along to vote at all?

MyAuntyBadger · 30/10/2019 11:04

Conservative, because our local Conservative MP. He's safe anyway though.

Ginfizplease · 30/10/2019 11:09

How anyone can vote Tory after this whole Tory shitstorm is beyond me. Anyone but the Tories!

StylishMummy · 30/10/2019 11:13

Tory
