You are their entire world

After a busy week where I've had to leave DDog home alone a little more than usual (she usually goes most places with me) I am reminded how their whole little worlds really do centre around us, their owners. I get the impression she is feeling a little insecure this week - each evening without fail she has bumbled up the stairs and onto the main bed to join me, quietly snuggled up against my legs with her paws over her sweet, innocent face, snoozing. She's generally a very independent dog and usually at this time of the evening she'd be downstairs taking over the sofa, but this week she just wants to be close-by.

I'm not ashamed to say I adore every little hair on her precious body Grin and I'm sure I'm not the only one who treasures their DDog. AIBU to cherish every little moment with her and say never take for granted the fact that you are the entire world to your dog?

I may never be a perfect human but when she looks at me and chooses to spend her time curled up with me, that's about as close as I'll ever feel Grin

I saw a very poignant cartoon on fb the other day. A woman was sitting next to her dog looking glum, and she said to the dog “I wish I had your life.”
The dog put his head on her shoulder and thought “but you are my life”

It’s true we are everything to them.

Our darling girl is the Apple of my eye. She holds my heart in her paw. We got her as a rescue about 18 months ago aged about seven or eight.

When we first brought her home she was very anxious, wouldn't go upstairs (out dogs have always been access all areas), woudnt go out for a walk unless two out of the three of us were going too.

She'd only been in kennels for a couple of months but was cearly, in retrospect traumatised. I asked if she was motivated by food or toys (it can be useful to know when you're training with them). They said neither seemed to interest her.

Roll on 18 months. She has the run OF the house, and enjoys it. I'm so glad she's "not motivated by food" because she's an absolute ganet where food is concerned. She does regular sweeps of the kitchen floor on the off chance we've dropped something.

And her ball is her favourite thing in thebworld, after my DD, who dog adores with a passion.

It's a joy and a privilege to give a formerly traumatised and depressed animal a home where she is thriving and so very much loved

Thanks so much for sharing - we are so so lucky to be close to them.
Elderflower - what a extremely beautiful boy, can’t imagine how hard it is Flowers

Curlysurprise · 26/10/2019 20:49

Be the person your dog believes you to be.

My friend sent me that on a t-shirt and I so hope I can live up to that. They are beautiful souls.

Boristhecats · 26/10/2019 20:50

I can’t wait till I can get another dog. After the awfulness of my last one I didn’t think I would ever want one again. But. Here I am. Planning my new puppy for next year !!!! Puppies are the best ) I’m aware I’m alone in my thinking of that one Grin)

Elderflower14 · 26/10/2019 20:52

I lost my wonderful boy last month too Elderflower. It's horrible, isn't it. I still have two others thankfully, who I love, but he was my all time favourite.

What a lovely reminder. We are the world to our dogs and sometimes life does get busy and we can’t devote as much time to them as we wish but definitely cherish every moment you have with them, it’s awful they don’t live long enough 💕

YABVU if you don't post a picture of your doggie....

Furrydogmum · 26/10/2019 21:04

You are right, I've had my girls for 9 yrs all since puppyhood - two of them are everything to each other but to the other one I'm everything. I started work full-time 8 wks ago and she sleeps on my pillow from the minute I leave til the minute I get home. When I get home we are inseparable. Fortunately I get school holidays so we're making the best of it.

yougotanology · 26/10/2019 21:04

All of the dogs on this post are gorgeous, so sad for those who've lost their little doggies.

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 26/10/2019 21:05

This thread has made me cry! Love the dog photos.

We try our best for them, even when that means letting them go.

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 26/10/2019 21:08

I'm not religious but I love this cartoon!

I never forget. I’m with my dog 24/7.

mimiasovitch · 26/10/2019 21:16

@Namechangeforthiscancershit my daughter showed me that just a few days ago. It's just gorgeous. She also sent me the one I've attached. I may have sobbed a wee bit. Digs are life.

Loving the doggy pics 😍. Sadly our little fluff ball has been gone seven years. However for the last two weeks we have been dog sitting another adorable little fluff ball that is totally ruling the roost in this house and she's not the size of tuppence.

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 26/10/2019 21:18

Oh god that's a tear jerker @mimiasovitch

Span1elsRock · 26/10/2019 21:18

I left my two today to go to the hairdresser. Was gone 90 minutes and my two DDs were at home so the dogs weren't alone. They apparently both sulked in their bed the entire time, wouldn't engage with either DD and nearly knocked me off my feet when I got back! They haven't left my side all day..........

They are with me 24/7 usually.... even come to work with me. But I adore them with every fibre of my being. I'm so blessed to be their mummy Grin
