You are their entire world

After a busy week where I've had to leave DDog home alone a little more than usual (she usually goes most places with me) I am reminded how their whole little worlds really do centre around us, their owners. I get the impression she is feeling a little insecure this week - each evening without fail she has bumbled up the stairs and onto the main bed to join me, quietly snuggled up against my legs with her paws over her sweet, innocent face, snoozing. She's generally a very independent dog and usually at this time of the evening she'd be downstairs taking over the sofa, but this week she just wants to be close-by.

I'm not ashamed to say I adore every little hair on her precious body Grin and I'm sure I'm not the only one who treasures their DDog. AIBU to cherish every little moment with her and say never take for granted the fact that you are the entire world to your dog?

I may never be a perfect human but when she looks at me and chooses to spend her time curled up with me, that's about as close as I'll ever feel Grin

I’m going through this just now. I just haven’t had the time I usually have for my dogs this week and I’m wracked with guilt. The youngest also very recently had emergency eye surgery and the poor other three are being very tolerant that a lot of my time is currently spent nursing him. I adore my dogs and I’m always amazed how adaptable they are. All they want to do is please. They are four little angels.

Elderflower14 · 26/10/2019 21:21

I can't see the attachments?

JemimaPyjamas · 26/10/2019 21:24

Not read the whole thread but wanted to say, OP, I agree with you so much and thank you - dogs are fabulous! xxx

Branster · 26/10/2019 21:27

You’ve all made me cry and I just had to give my dog a big hug whilst he’s completely asleep.
We mustn’t forget we are responsible for their well-being and all they want is to be with a human.
Honeyroar I’m so sorry about your boy, what a beautiful picture.

Furrydogmum · 26/10/2019 21:28

My less clingy but no less lovely or loving furbies.

What a lovely message OP.

We may have a few pets over our lifetime, and they are all a very special part of our lives, to them we are there entire world, from puppy to old dog their whole life is devoted to us.

ClientListQueen · 26/10/2019 21:29

Not a dog but my cat was stray for 4 years and lived in a broken greenhouse for a lot of that time
This is him now, he thinks I am the best thing ever Grin

Lovely post OP. I love my dog.

cacklingmags · 26/10/2019 21:30

My dog has just stolen my take away dinner. Am I hungry? yes. Do I love her? Totally. We had a little growl together, and she knows why I am a bit cross, but our love prevails. My German Shepherd and me - together forever.

ControversialFerret · 26/10/2019 21:32

Young dog is currently snoring with his head on my lap. Senior dog is next to - but crucially not touching - him.

My dogs are my world. I prefer them over the majority of people I meet Grin

I'm not remotely embarrassed to admit that I spoil them rotten. They sleep in our room. When they are poorly I sleep on the sofa with them. They have the full run of the house. Social occasions are very much weighed up against whether it's worth leaving the dogs (rarely!).

StillNumb · 26/10/2019 21:36

OP - I wonder if anyone has been letting off fireworks whilst you are out. They have been going off now and then for a a couple of weeks where I live. I don't have a dog, but I do have an elderly cat who decided to move in with us 6 years ago. He previously lived with a neighbour, and she passed him on to us. He is terrified to go out at the moment, and has taken to hiding under the stairs because of the noise. I've put him a blanket in there. I hate bonfire time.

SeaWitchly · 26/10/2019 21:41

@mimiasovitch

I can't see your attachment? But I presume everyone else can as PP described it as a tearjerker Confused

Duck90 · 26/10/2019 21:43

Lovely post. Great to hear about such lovely dogs (and other furries).

I feel so happy watching the dogs sleep in front of me.

They are delighted with how well they have me trained. What a great job they did.

My doggo is currently very unwell Sad this time last week he was at the specialist vet centre having treatment for an autoimmune event which knocked out his platelets and we weren’t sure he would make it home. He is currently lying in front of the fire with me. We are not out of the woods yet and we are facing an uncertain future as sadly they have found a heart issue and they suspect endocarditis so currently on treatment for both conditions. We are praying for no further damage at the rescan if his heart in 2 weeks. This dog has been my constant companion through a terrible 18 months, he is only 4 and a bundle of life usually, I will be devastated if we lose him. Counting each day he is home with us as a bonus and a blessing. He is being very spoilt with extra treats Grin he comes on my bed until I am settled with my light off and then pops off and goes to his usual spot to sleep. Bloody love this dog!

LondonCrone · 26/10/2019 21:45

I have two rescue cats, and I love them so much that it sometimes feels like a sickness. When I go out after work or have to work late, they properly sulk and won't sleep with me -- my flatmate can always tell, because they'll be on the sofa when she gets up in the morning! I always make sure to apologise now, and we have extra cuddles to make up for the lost hours. I have so much love in my life, and it's all thanks to two ragamuffins who happened to be born in a hedge not too far from my flat. I'm so lucky.

MiniCooperLover · 26/10/2019 21:47

Our 10 month old pup is on her holidays while we are away/ we've been away a week so far, one more to go and I Miss her so much 😳 I know she's with a great lady and having lots of dog company but I can't wait to see her 👍

Mydogmylife · 26/10/2019 21:47

My life! I adore every fluffy hair on his head and so does DH

mimiasovitch · 26/10/2019 21:47

@SeaWitchly I can see it on the app. It is sad. My kids show me things and wait for me to tear up. Cows, the pair of them. Anything to do with dogs and I'm emotional instantly, and they know it. I'm going to bed now with my floofy faced love. She never bullies me!

SchadenfiendeUnmortified · 26/10/2019 21:52

Dogs are the BEST!

maxiflump1 · 26/10/2019 21:52

Aw lovely post op.

Out DDog is nearly 8 now and since the two DS' have arrived our snuggle time is a bit limited. He loves it when they are in bed though as can have uninterrupted time with us. He will repeatedly prod me with his leg until I hold his paw. Love my fur baby

Bobthefisherghoulswife · 26/10/2019 21:52

Thank you for the reminder. I think my pup is feeling a bit shafted atm, had ds 3 months ago and he's gone from having me all day every day (he came to work with me) to sharing me with a shouty demanding little human. He still sits next to me on the sofa, has a little snuggle in bed but then abandons me to his bed 😔

HowWhenWhy · 26/10/2019 21:53

This is our gorgeous little floof ❤️ love him so much it hurts, but would rather that, than not have him at all Smile
