Or any terrifying TV shows would also be good. Thanks in advance!

Where is the like button for sinister gave me nightmares

applesandacorns · 25/10/2019 18:05

Midsommar.

SmellMySmellbow · 25/10/2019 18:07

Brimstone. Messed with my head.

Pinkblueberry · 25/10/2019 18:07

Insidious - but when I watched it in the cinema. Not quite so frightening on a smaller tv without surround sound Grin

dingdang · 25/10/2019 18:07

I watched Hereditary in the cinema and by the end the entire audience were giggling - agree with PP the ending was terrible. Loved Funny Games

SmellMySmellbow · 25/10/2019 18:12
Billed as a mystery/thriller but I found it creepy and horrifying. I don't scare easily and have seen pretty much every film mentioned previously. This one stuck with me...
SmellMySmellbow · 25/10/2019 18:12

Bum. I meant Brimstone! Not hereditary

Ylfa · 25/10/2019 18:35

wouldn’t describe as Scary To Death but jumped out of my fucking skin when the sprinklers came on outside while having well deserved cigarette just now, and also it’s suddenly very dark 😟

I’m amazed at how many of the films mentioned so far I’ve already seen - don’t think of myself as long term horror fan - but loads new to check out! THANK YOU! Might try another 😀

The Autopsy of Jane Doe.

I had to switch it off in about a third of the way through. Very creepy.

CarolDanvers · 25/10/2019 18:43

Wolf Creek is based on a true story...he still hasn't been caught!

It was based on the multiple murders committed by two killers - Ivan Milat and Bradley Murdoch. Both of whom have been caught, convicted and are currently serving long prison sentences.

I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts.

OhHolyNightWaking · 25/10/2019 18:57

I don't think anyone has mentioned The Borderlands?

Fuck me. The ending made me cry and I was unsettled for weeks. I haven't watched a scary film since. Would definitely recommend! It's perhaps a slow burner to start with bit Jesus the ending. Argh
Got to stop thinking about it now!

I also agree with PP who have mentioned the first season of The Terror. That was awesome and incredibly scary/tense.

Ylfa · 25/10/2019 19:13

I need a nice insane telenovela to settle down with now, have decided horror is best enjoyed in the daytime - at least when you’re alone in someone else’s house, in a remote location in another country, without a car, next to a field with loads of unmarked graves waiting to be exhumed (etc etc) yeah 😟

The Dead Center.
The Room.
Brightburn.
Suspiria (the remake).
Annihilation.
Incident in a Ghostland.
Mandy.
Possum.
The Endless.
The Invitation.
Lights Out.
Split.
Glass.
The Void.
Hush.
Coherence.

I'm not terrified of those (really desensitised to horror) but they will fuck with you and might make you wanna hide behind the sofa for a long time.

Trewser · 25/10/2019 19:19

Ooh i really want to watch the terror. So expensive though

Trewser · 25/10/2019 19:20

Not scary but disturbing
The Invitation
The Guest
Creep
Melancholia

Span1elsRock · 25/10/2019 19:22

The Ring really got inside my head, I don't know why but it was a really disturbing film. I've not reacted like that to anything else.

The Strangers....... genuinely one of the most terrifying and watch from behind one hand sort of film.

Buggeredpelvicfloor2013 · 25/10/2019 19:22

Yes OhHolyNight, we watched the borderlands the other night..... Fuck me, I nearly shot through the ceiling! I don't think I've ever watched anything that got to me quite so much!!

IceniSky · 25/10/2019 19:22

Mum and Dad. Refuse to watch any scary movie after that. Vile vile movie.

IceniSky · 25/10/2019 19:24

Loved Melancolia.

Rubyupbeat · 25/10/2019 19:27

I found sinister 2 much more creepy than the 1st one.
For really scary films, look at asian horror. Particularly Korean horror, their films are really scary, the ring, grudge etc....were all originally Korean and much scarier than the u.s versions

BanginChoons · 25/10/2019 19:28

Has anyone said Shutter yet?

nononever · 25/10/2019 19:29

It was based on the multiple murders committed by two killers - Ivan Milat and Bradley Murdoch. Both of whom have been caught, convicted and are currently serving long prison sentences.

Ivan Milat is on his last legs in prison, not long for this earth.

PumpkinKing · 25/10/2019 19:32

Antichrist is probably one of the most fucked up films I've seen. Not jumpy scary, just really disturbing.

LadyMcLokington · 25/10/2019 19:36

Another vote for Event Horizon - not many things freak me out, but the nice man from Jurassic Park is a rather good actor! Pandorum is another In a similar vein, might be worth a watch 😊

OneTwoFreddysComingForYou · 25/10/2019 19:40

All of the Insidious films scared me witless, as did The Conjuring/Annabelle.

Also The Boy Halloween Smile
