If you haven't already?

Also, encourage your older teenagers to register for the first time.

Boris has proposed election for December!

tumbleisatwat · 26/10/2019 07:51

I don't get it either.

OP posts:
Xenia · 26/10/2019 09:45

I think it was my using the two words "vote conservative" that led to someone saying that was out of order rather than emphasising why Tory policies are best for Britain and the disaster socialist Corbyn will be never mind marxist McDonnell.

tumbleisatwat · 26/10/2019 09:51

Well if by 'Britain' you mean the City, than voting Tory makes sense.

Otherwise, I genuinely don't understand.

OP posts:
Dapplegrey · 26/10/2019 10:18

Who are you voting for, Tumble?

Limensoda · 26/10/2019 10:41

@51tumbleisatwat

Neither do I.

Alsohuman · 26/10/2019 12:04

AlsoHuman I bet you wouldn’t have said that if Xenia had electioneered on here on behalf of Labour.

Yes I would. There’s no way I’d advocate voting Labour.

Xenia · 26/10/2019 12:19

So we can say "do vote" but not "vote Conservative" or "Vote Labour" or "Vote Green" and we can however say why
Obviously as most people know (which is why Labour has not won a general election since 2005) the Tories spend what they have and conserve money rather than spending it all right away. That means the Tories are sustainable and can help maintain the welfare state with enough resources in hand. Labour spends what it does not have and thus damages the less well off.

Anyway let us see if Labour does win. Every vote is important and I hope everyone on here does vote.

EntropyRising · 26/10/2019 12:20

How anyone could want to vote for a party who doesn't want to protect workers rights and is prepared to sell off the NHS to American companies is fucking baffling!

Where do you get this stuff?

Xenia · 26/10/2019 12:28

The Tories do not want to do those things. that is left wing proganda. They are committed to the welfare state; there is no plan to sell off hte NHS to US companies and indeed they may well extend workers' rights, not remove them.

EntropyRising · 26/10/2019 12:31

I thought remainers were supposed to be critical thinkers?

Don't be ridiculous. Much of the nhs is in the hands of private companies already ffs! The Tories have never wanted a welfare state and if you took notice you would see it. Social care is in the hands of private companies and the service is disgusting! As for workers rights,....their plans to remove those are evident with erasing that part in the Brexit deal.
You don't have any idea of Tory intentions.

Hingeandbracket · 26/10/2019 13:07

I am going to write "PR now" on mine. No party for me to vote for at this point.

Hingeandbracket · 26/10/2019 13:08

"They are committed to the welfare state; there is no plan to sell off hte NHS to US companies and indeed they may well extend workers' rights, not remove them."
Lies.

tumbleisatwat · 26/10/2019 13:26

Come on Xenia, you're brighter than that.

OP posts:
Alsohuman · 26/10/2019 13:31

You really do live in an ivory tower @Xenia.

EntropyRising · 26/10/2019 13:34

Sure - thanks to Tony Blair.

Johnson has already said the NHS is not open to the US.

Drabarni · 26/10/2019 13:35

I rarely vote so YABU.
I think we're all capable of remembering if it's what we want to do.

Alsohuman · 26/10/2019 13:39

Johnson has already said the NHS is not open to the US.

And you believe that? Blair didn’t pass the legislation for tendering every NHS contract, with most going to the private sector. That was in Andrew Lansley’s ruinous reform.

EntropyRising · 26/10/2019 13:59

And you believe that?

The NHS being 'sold off' to the USA has been remainer propaganda from beginning to end.

Johnson has correctly read the tea leaves and said it's off the table. What's your superior source of information? In all likelihood he won't be PM when the trade deal is in negotiation, and I thought you all were sure that the GFA would lay waste to any trade agreement anyway?

QuestionableMouse · 26/10/2019 14:22

@Xenia

I'd rather shit in my hands and clap than vote for him.

Alsohuman · 26/10/2019 14:52

My superior source of information is that Johnson has never knowingly told the truth. He said a couple of days ago his deal would protect workers’ rights, yesterday papers were leaked proving that to be the latest in his life time of lies.

EntropyRising · 26/10/2019 14:59

I suppose you mean the explosive 'leaked' document that said that there's room for divergence between the EU and UK regulation.

Shock, horror, this is why people voted to leave the EU - so as to set our own regulation as we see fit, here in the UK. Feel free to look into the future with your own crystal ball, I'll look into the future with mine.

EntropyRising · 26/10/2019 15:03

You'd also do well to consider that this report was 'leaked' to the FT, distinguished by having the greatest remain bias amongst 'quality' papers (more so than the Guardian).

Alsohuman · 26/10/2019 16:10

Doesn’t matter where it was leaked to, it would still say the same thing. So people voted to leave the EU to erode workers’ rights? Are you really saying that? If so, you must really hate your fellow man.

SilverySurfer · 26/10/2019 16:18

Xenia

You know that and I know that but you may as well hit your head against a brick wall than try to reason with those who have swallowed Labour lies hook, line and sinker. I don't know what brainwashing technique they use but it seems to have worked on their loyal members.

What amuses me the most is that it was war criminal Blair who introduced private healthcare providers into the NHS. The Tories have been in Government for nearly ten years. If they really wanted to privatise it what has stopped them from doing so? Absolutely nothing because they don't want to privatise it!
