If you haven't already?

Also, encourage your older teenagers to register for the first time.

Boris has proposed election for December!

It's shit that so many people suffered just so we would have the privilege of choosing the least shite person out of a pool of twats.

People’s Vote have a tactical voting website up and running for those who want a second ref, targeting 100 seats (including mine). You can sign up for email updates if you are interested www.tactical-vote.uk/

They are aiming for 60 pro ref MPs.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 25/10/2019 17:47

These muppets will be voted back in.
I guarantee it.

Figmentofmyimagination · 25/10/2019 17:52

spider I’m sure that’s true but like May, we can still give them a bloody nose by ensuring they have a minority gov again. Does anyone believe btw that the conservatives would never do a deal to share power with the Brexit party? I’m not sure they can be trusted not to do this.

CuriouslyCuriously · 25/10/2019 17:55

Going to vote winds me up a bit.

I'm registered blind so need assistance. What they SHOULD do to is overlay a template, read down the numbered list of parties, I'm a way I can feel where to make my mark, and then leave me to vote in private.

This never happens.

If I want to vote I have to tell someone who I want to vote for. So much for a private ballot!

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 25/10/2019 18:03

My vote for labour is pointless here (safe Tory seat Sad) but I'll do it anyway. Gutted that this shower of cunts will likely get back in to continue to fuck people over for another 5 years.

mencken · 25/10/2019 18:07

we could do with higher tech to help the disabled, such as the registered-blind poster on here.

but for most, it is simply a matter of arse off sofa and out of house at some point, or organise a postal vote. The sillycow blubbering from those who don't like living in a democracy is really annoying. Newsflash, dumbos - no system is perfect but some are a lot worse.

dadshere · 25/10/2019 18:13

We also live in a Tory safe seat and although I would never vote tory, our local MP is very good for local issues.

As long as the gold standard is pen+paper ballots that are counted, kept and available for recount if any funny business is alleged.

I really don't want anything high tech at all when it comes to voting. Because - quite bluntly - I really don't trust it. And I've worked for 35 years in tech industries, and still don't trust it.

Thehouseintheforest · 25/10/2019 18:30

I spent 15 years in an area of the world where people were LITERALLY DYING (and I mean that !) to have their right to vote.

I will NEVER take it for granted.

Don't vote = No right to have a say

BoneyBackJefferson · 25/10/2019 18:39

Don't vote = No right to have a say

Here is a steaming pile of shit.

And here is another steaming pile of shit.

You must you must eat one and if you don't you can't point out that they are both a steaming pile of shit.

It isn't and never should be how democracy works. Everybody has a voice.

LochJessMonster · 25/10/2019 19:37

People are way overestimating the attention that spoilt ballots get.
No one of any importance reads them, they get counted, stamped with ‘invalid’ and chucked in a box along with the unsigned postal votes etc

SilverySurfer · 25/10/2019 20:02

dadshere
I have been waiting for years for this. The chance to vote for a truy socialist government, with a truly great leader. Come election day this country will be red!

Hahaha in your dreams maybe, in the real world it will be blue Grin

Agree with Xenia.

nottodaysatanlucifer · 25/10/2019 20:03

I got a lovely leaflet from my council yesterday saying if I didn't register I'd be fined £1,000.

What if I don't want to fucking vote?

dadshere · 25/10/2019 20:31

SilverySurfer.

Don't think so and hope not for the many millions who are being impoverished under the tories. I think people are sick of the self-serving elite, sticking their snouts in the trough and then creating austerity for everyone else. Selling off the NHS to the yanks, as gideon and Johnson attempted is a sure fire vote loser. The NHS is ours, it is not theirs to sell, they have badly misplaced the nations' feelings over this.

BoneyBackJefferson · 25/10/2019 21:15

People are way overestimating the attention that spoilt ballots get.

People are not overestimating the attention that spoilt ballots get, but until we are allowed to vote in a negative way against all parties and the system as it stands it is all we have for those that voting for any party (even the least shit one) is still ratifying all of their policies.

Dapplegrey · 25/10/2019 21:37

Out of order @Xenia. It’s not on to electioneer like that.

AlsoHuman I bet you wouldn’t have said that if Xenia had electioneered on here on behalf of Labour.

InfiniteCurve · 25/10/2019 21:59

I always, always vote for all the reasons people have mentioned above.
I don't think I can bring myself to vote this time.
I'd rather be part of a " low turnout" statistic.

*For those who won't vote, will you feel the same apathy if the economy dives and you have

less pay
no job
or no proper public services
very poor spending power abroad

or if a party in power intends to

make you pay to use healthcare
reduce workers' rights eg holiday/maternity pay
perpetuate a system where people starve on 'welfare' or turn to prostitution to survive*

And I care a great deal about these things - someone explain to me how my protest vote in a Tory safe seat will stop any of them??

MulticolourMophead · 25/10/2019 22:01

DD and I are registered, DS is too young.

I did find out, when doing this year's registration, that the previous occupants still hadn't taken themselves off the register for this house. So I did it for them.

daisychain01 · 26/10/2019 04:55

No one of any importance reads them, they get counted, stamped with ‘invalid’ and chucked in a box along with the unsigned postal votes etc

That's if there are only a handful. If a significant number of voters who feels strongly that they don't have faith in any candidate, write NONE on their ballot paper, then they can't just kick those numbers into the long grass. They have to report them in the return.

RibenaMonsoon · 26/10/2019 05:29

People died to give you the vote. Sometimes that is to vote for the least worst. You owe it to them to vote and I am disgusted with people who don't.

Nope... People fought and died for me to have the right to vote. They fought for me to have the same rights as men.

Choice is the only true freedom anyone gets in this life. I will be voting but if I'd chosen not to, that's my right.

PhilCornwall1 · 26/10/2019 06:57

I have voted in every GE and pretty much every local election since being able to vote.

This time around I'm not so sure, none of them are worth voting for. In my opinion they are all a waste of space. Just imagine how long you would last in your job if you were as inept as them.

EntropyRising · 26/10/2019 07:41

Of course she wouldn't.

Vote Tory. Wink

Limensoda · 26/10/2019 07:41

How anyone could want to vote for a party who doesn't want to protect workers rights and is prepared to sell off the NHS to American companies is fucking baffling!
