If you haven't already?

Also, encourage your older teenagers to register for the first time.

Boris has proposed election for December!

Press has included broadcast media since at least 1987

Debatable -

It’s not debatable. It’s fact, a concept you seem to have as little regard for as your illustrious leader.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 29/10/2019 12:47

Not disputing campaign tactics

But he won votes foolish to deny it but then many would deny that Farage is an excellent political player

Put Boris on a soap box and he is great

Debating not so much

His team know his strengths and weaknesses but this guy is like Teflon according to MN the Tory party were over he would never being PM, he would resign, he would be forced out

This is all in the last few months and since the Tory leadership campaign. The conservatives are very comfortably ahead in the polls that’s backed up that he is popular

You don’t have to like that or agree with him this isn’t about admiring him it’s just being able to be objective

Clavinova · 29/10/2019 12:50

That 'justification' is utterly hilarious

Almost as hilarious as you saying that Labour would be better for the economy - the very same experts who said Boris Johnson's deal was worse than Theresa May's deal also said that remaining in the EU with Labour's economic policy was equally as bad as leaving the EU with Johnson's deal - therefore even worse if we leave the EU under Labour!

Clavinova · 29/10/2019 12:53

The Press | Definition of The Press by Merriam-Webster

"Definition of the press: the people (such as reporters and photographers) who work for newspapers, magazines, etc."

Alsohuman · 29/10/2019 13:00

Oh do stop with the semantics @Clarinova. You’re not convincing anyone. Press is now the generic term for mainstream media and has been for decades, that’s why broadcasters are issued with press passes.

queenbodenica · 29/10/2019 13:06

I'm spoiling my ballot paper.

Clavinova · 29/10/2019 13:12

Oh do stop with the semantics

Clearly not from 1987 - this is from 1999;

Broadcasting Content Regulation

"Unlike the press", "broadcasting regulation in the UK is based on statute and is relatively complex."
"Private television and radio are regulated, respectively, by the Independent Television Commission (ITC) and the Radio Authority (RA), both provided for in the Broadcasting Act 1990"...
"The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)", a public service broadcaster, "is not subject to ITC licensing, and has instead established an internal system for processing complaints."

Alsohuman · 29/10/2019 13:18

Regulation is not the same as common usage. HTH.

theduchessstill · 29/10/2019 13:24

Clavinova You, I, BJ and the whole world know perfectly well that the father was complaining about the presence of the media in general and used 'press' to signify 'media'. It's not like he would have said 'I don't mind your electioneering by bringing tv crews here, but I'm livid to think you have brought along the the printed media too!'

Johnson was being disingenuous or gas-lighting or lying or whatever you want to call it. Whatever the semantics, it was a wholly unsatisfactory response to the father and if he carries on like that in an election campaign he is bound to lose votes. Maybe he'll still win, but shit like that won't help him, however much apologists like you leap to his defense.

Clavinova · 29/10/2019 13:35

The father was a Labour activist!

WeshMaGueule · 29/10/2019 13:45

VOting for smaller parties lets them save their deposit and ensures a diverse political landscape.

theduchessstill · 29/10/2019 14:25

The father was a Labour activist!

And?

Limensoda · 29/10/2019 14:50

Just listened to Johnson in Parliament. Lots of ranting. Not saying anything new and still doesn't understand why Labour refused to support an election until now, despite being consistently told that they wouldn't support one until no deal was off the table.
He is as thick as pig shit.

Dapplegrey · 29/10/2019 15:42

He is as thick as pig shit.

So which politicians do you think are intelligent, Limensoda? (Presumably only Labour ones).

Xenia · 29/10/2019 16:06

Most politicians are fairly intelligent. I don't think Labour will win in December (thank goodness) but let us wait and see. Every vote counts.

Alsohuman · 29/10/2019 16:30

Every vote only counts if you live in a marginal. This is the second safest Tory seat in the country so my vote is worthless. I’ll still go and cast it though.

Limensoda · 29/10/2019 16:32

So which politicians do you think are intelligent, Limensoda? (Presumably only Labour ones)

Quite a few, including Kenneth Clarke who is a conservative. Actually, most have intelligence but not so many have common sense or principles.
My point was Johnson is as thick as pig shit,....despite his privileged education.

Figmentofmyimagination · 29/10/2019 18:17

Apropos of nothing, the boundary changes that were planned last year placed Johnson’s Uxbridge seat at risk because there would be considerably fewer wealthy people in the redrawn constituency. What a shame it got put on the back burner.

This article (from earlier this year) suggests that there’s still a possibility he might lose his seat. That would be satisfying. We can but dream, but he is a bit marmite. The price of ‘charisma’ is that an equally determined number of people hate him with a passion and want to see him fall.

I can't believe anyone would write such a vile thing - I'm reporting you. @Hazelnut

there are people on here (including me) who have lost loved ones to heart attacks, there is no need to resort to hateful thoughtless posts, especially not in the name of politics. Give your head a wobble.

WeshMaGueule · 29/10/2019 19:46

Well no, your vote might be the difference between a Green candidate for instance keeping their deposit and living to fight another day or not.

Drabarni · 29/10/2019 20:34

I usually vote labour. I live in an area that has always been labour without fail.
They voted by a large majority to leave.
Would my vote make any difference?

Alsohuman · 29/10/2019 21:45

I think it would @Drabarni, there will be a lot of leave voters lending their vote to the Tories or even The Brexit Party. If you want to remain, vote Labour.

BMW6 · 29/10/2019 22:26

Why bother voting?? Parliament will completely disregard your vote if they don't like it, a complete waste of your time. Fuckers.
