...to buy radar key online to use disabled loo?

Marigo · 21/10/2019 14:31

I’m not disabled and neither are any of my children, however I’m often out with my 3 under 2.5 and in our local shopping centre loos there’s no toilet in the baby change. The ladies is impossible with double buggy plus buddy board and the disabled requires a radar key. Same for the loos in the two big department stores so I just can’t go out into town unless it’s the weekend and my husband can come in case I need a wee! I’m struggling to leave the house for this stress but my mom is disabled and I know how shit it is when she can’t use the large cubicle she needs. I’m really conflicted about what to do.

@Sirzy there really isn’t an alternative though Is there

SophieGiroux · 24/10/2019 12:49

Just take a plastic jug, wee in it in the baby change, chuck it down the sink. Job done Smile

Sophie oh sweet Jesus why have I never thought of this? It won't make the sink smell though will it for the next person? 😳

MustardScreams · 24/10/2019 12:55

Fucking hell, I really question whether some people should be allowed to procreate with mindsets like this.

You’ll be passing on your disability views to your children, even unconsciously @ChangeAndThenChange. And then you’ve produced another generation that are unable to be compassionate and caring. Well done Confused

ChangeAndThenChange · 24/10/2019 12:57

@mustardscreams how am I achieving this?

RockinHippy · 24/10/2019 12:58

I personally would just do it @Marigo If they want to stop people doing this then the keys wouldn’t be available online. You’ve just as much right to use the loo as anyone else.

MustardScreams · 24/10/2019 13:02

@DoloresDingo being disabilist doesn’t mean wheeling someone out of the way ffs. It is abundantly clear on this thread that people with disabilities are STILL thought of as second class citizens by some.

cactusthief · 24/10/2019 13:03

Not this particular loo she doesn't, because it's a disabled toilet, what part of that is difficult for you?

Blackbear19 · 24/10/2019 13:04

Sophie wtf would you do that? The baby change is usually in the disabled loo. Grin

Blackbear19 · 24/10/2019 13:05

Sorry Accessible Loo. Not Disabled

Sirzy · 24/10/2019 13:05

cactustheief according to some on this thread having a baby is obviously a disability. It is the only way to explain the frankly ludicrous lengths they will go to to try and justify the need to abuse the facilities with. I regards of the impact that can have on the lives of disabled people

@DoloresDingo no but they way you, and others, speak does mean you don’t give a shit.

Don’t forget there are disabled people using MN that have to read the replies you are lol posting. How do you think that makes them feel?

MustardScreams · 24/10/2019 13:09

@Toastedstrudel MN is an INCLUSIVE site, you can be anyone or anything and come here for support or advice.

You on the other hand.

ChangeAndThenChange · 24/10/2019 13:10

MustardScreams I’m still trying to find out why using a toilet once in a blue moon is me producing a generation that lack compassion

SophieGiroux · 24/10/2019 13:11

Obviously if baby change is in the disabled then there is no need to wee in a jug. I know I've been so desperate before in Boots baby change (no toilet) that I was thinking of weeing in one of the nappies. I don't think it could've held it all though!!
Wee in a jug, pour down the sink and wash hands with soap giving sink a good rinse is the only solution sometimes! Not ideal obviously and shouldn't need to resort to this!

ffswhatnext · 24/10/2019 13:11

The whole I popped in and when I came out no one was waiting, so fuck it I will use it again thing.
There have been times that when occupied I’ve had to go away to buy new clothes or get home soiled.
I hope in those cases the toilet was used by someone who legitimately could have a radar key. To legitimately buy one you have a medical need that can be backed up by medical letter and off you pop to your local council, pay the money and there you go. Radar key. It’s one of the least intrusive thing when you have health issues that you deal with.

And those saying basically she shouldn’t have considered practicalities when buying a pram. Are you on glue? And if having common sense to think about how you use the pram when out and about is being perfect fuck it, that’s me. I thought about getting on and off buses (so none of the cannot be folded bollocks). I looked at the width and length knowing it needed to go through doors. I picked them up to see if they were too heavy. I purchased based on how it would be used not because it’s the latest craze, the cost or the look. Something more parents should be doing instead of buying an impracticable tank that has a serious impact on another group.

And of course when you leave the house those that have no medical should plan. Just like everyone else. You think that the people who genuinely need these spaces don’t plan? Of course they do and it also includes extras like is the disabled loo fit for purpose. Or will it be the laughable joke of no hoist and no facilities to change pads of those that actually need it.

MustardScreams · 24/10/2019 13:11

@ChangeAndThenChange it’s not about the toilet ffs. It’s your attitude and the way you speak and think.!

cactusthief · 24/10/2019 13:11

@Toastedstrudel

You should name change straight away, anyone with an ounce of sense would be embarrassed by that comment.
