Brexit postponed

AIBU to worry that the (almost certain) delay in Brexit will give rise to civil unrest?

OP posts:
Oliversmumsarmy · 21/10/2019 13:02

Alsohuman

But it was the rest of parliament who refused to have one.

No good saying you don’t want the Tories in power. You are ready and want an election but when offered one say No thanks

Pumperthepumper · 21/10/2019 13:07

It’s totally the wrong time for a GE though - voting for a party means loads and loads of policies need to be taken into account, which are completely diluted by Brexit. A GE right now is not the best thing for the country.

Tellmetruth4 · 21/10/2019 13:07

We all know the reason why parliament wouldn’t agree to an election and it was because they couldn’t trust BJ to change the date of it to push a no deal Brexit through. The man lies to his loved ones and his employers. Nobody can trust him on his word.

pointythings · 21/10/2019 13:10

On the question in the OP - let them riot. Let them then get arrested and end up in jail. That's why we have laws. Their actions, their responsibilities, their consequences.

theunknownknown · 21/10/2019 13:10

Oh dear. Because to have agreed to a GE would have given Johnson the control over when it happened. And the grown ups wanted to make sure that crashing out without a deal was off the table. Otherwise, he would have suspended parliament and we would have crashed out by default. Do you really really not understand this???!!!

mummmy2017 · 21/10/2019 13:10

Yes , I found it rather amusing that you fail to grasp the fact we had the vote.
That we now need to land on either a deal or no deal.
Having a go at how we voted, or why we voted is the past.

Oliversmumsarmy · 21/10/2019 13:13

Then it was totally stupid of Jeremy Corbyn to call for one then

Pumperthepumper · 21/10/2019 13:15

I know you’re trying to goad here @mummmy2017 but I promise you that people understand your right to vote. What they can’t understand is how you know so little about what you voted for.

Pumperthepumper · 21/10/2019 13:18

@Oliversmumsarmy but that’s not really the point is it? Do you want a general election just now?

theunknownknown · 21/10/2019 13:18

Unfortunately Mummy it’s not in the past for me. I struggle with your fucking stupidity to be frank.

Roussette · 21/10/2019 13:21

I asked you mummy who told you that you shouldn't be voting. You failed to answer.

WTF0ver · 21/10/2019 13:27

@theunknownknown grandmother reads Daily Express and is a WW2 survivor who hates Germans. Mother is racist and nostalgic for the 50s. Dad doesn't want an "EU army" or for us to be "answerable to Brussels", brother doesn't want HS2 or his high taxes going to "scroungers". When I told him that the NHS would be sold and we'd move to US style private health care he replied "I don't mind paying privately". Nice, what about those of us who can't afford that? Hmm

bellinisurge · 21/10/2019 13:28

Mummy probably imagines herself atop the white cliffs of Dover in a tea dress and a stiff breeze. Don't feed the fantasy.

SesameOil · 21/10/2019 13:34

Johnson called for a GE in the full knowledge that Parliament would never have allowed him one before No Deal on 31/10/19 had been prevented. That isn't the same thing as him actually wanting one. It's tactics.

theunknownknown · 21/10/2019 13:35

It’s hard to believe you can be from the same stable sometimes isn’t WTF. I’m lucky, no one in my family or friendship group voted for this. So that’s something I guess.

mummmy2017 · 21/10/2019 13:36

I know we have no power.
That the Marches do nothing, change nothing, just give you a false sense of empowerment.
I know nothing we say or do here will alter a single thing.
Yet several of you imply that your capable of altering things, do you have a time machine then?

theunknownknown · 21/10/2019 13:40

I don’t think any of us have said we are capable of changing things. We are all just incredulous that you and people like you have brought us to this point. And yet you still can’t give us a concrete reason why or even consider that you got it wrong and that you were the posh boys’ patsy.
I don’t know about the others posting but I seriously don’t know whether to envy or pity your stupidity.

Pumperthepumper · 21/10/2019 13:40

@mummmy2017 are you really not getting this? It’s hard to work out how much of your posts are genuine - Brexit will alter things, just for the worse. Nothing will get better under Brexit, only worse. That’s why so many people don’t want it. Do you see that?

mummmy2017 · 21/10/2019 13:45

Yes I see things will alter.
But nothing you do is going to change anything, now.

theunknownknown · 21/10/2019 13:49

Oh. Well that’s alright then.
A fucking apology would be a start.
Instead of the belligerent we won, get it done bollocks.
I’m alright Mummy. I’ve got a house worth in excess of £1m. I have a pension. I have savings. I have another EU nationality.
You said you had nothing. Well good luck with that. I shan’t weep any tears for you.

mummmy2017 · 21/10/2019 13:53

Why should I apologise from exercising my right to vote.
Your really taking the .....

Twillow · 21/10/2019 13:57

Many many more remainers than leavers out protesting, so yes YABU.

theunknownknown · 21/10/2019 14:00

Because you can see things are going to get worse for a lot of people. You included and you still think it’s ok.
And no one said you should apologise for exercising your right to vote. But you should have informed yourself and known what you were voting for before you did.
Personally I think you should hang your head in shame.

mummmy2017 · 21/10/2019 14:01

Why do leavers need to protest.
Time will mean we get our deal, or no deal.

Roussette · 21/10/2019 14:04

Are you too embarrassed Mummy to admit that perhaps you were wrong? As I said upthread, there is no harm in doing that, I for one would be welcoming that with no recourse to abuse, because you were sold a lie.

I'll ask you again (3rd time) who told you that you shouldn't be voting?
